Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai

I ended up watching a few minutes of this film when it was on late on TV (channel 4?) a fortnight ago. The plot (so the interweb says) is guy meets girl, get killed by mobsters, girl meets guy's lookalike far away, he falls for her, mobsters spot him, wacky high-jinks ensue.

The only bits I actually saw were a frenetic dancefloor sequence (where girl meets guy2) which seemed to owe more than a little to MC Hammer, and a fantastic scene in lurid colours where he dances over the mountains with the image of her from his imagination.

So: has anyone heard of this? Is is this intense all the way through? Have I finally found my film?

dude, that's like almost every bollywood movie EVER. it can be sort of addictive.

But Kaho Naa is one of the more recent Bollywood epics which overdoes it on the international travel for no good reason and is possibly a bit to raunchy for granny and not raunchy anuff for the kids. It has a few good tunes (the mountain one you mention is fun) but the overall effect is a bit bleuah.

I'm no expert but I have the impression that they tend to cover a whole range of moods. Instead of having genre movies, most movieshave something for everyone. So I wouldn't expect it to all be the same.

this is a great film
yeah it's way over the top
that's bollywood, babe

but there's some real heart:
guy 1 gives up his whole life
just to save the girl

his little brother
bonds with (the selfish) guy 2...
enter the gangsters....

kaho naa is also the movie that introduced hritik roshan, thus breaking the khan oligopoly; i think they hide it in the movie, but
he has six fingers on one of his hands! (didn't kill anyone's father, though)
