Have you ever had your teeth whitened?

So last week I bought the Crest White Strips.. little flexible thingies you put over your teeth for thirty minutes twice a day. So far they are fucking annoying and they are making my bottom teeth uber sensitive, but my teeth are SO much whiter already (only after a week!). They were around $30. Does anyone really notice white/yellow teeth anyhow?

So, have you used any whitening methods with any success?

Nope and I don't go to the dentist very often either. That's why my teeth look like pirate teeth. At least pirates are kind of in right now.

I can't really justify going in for any kind of teeth whitening, what with the smoking and the coffee. It just seems like I might as well set fire to my money. That being said, I have a friend who gets her teeth whitened quite often (which kind of results in blindingly white scary teeth but don't tell her I said that), and she says that the strips only work if you are already fairly white to begin with. It's best to go to a dentist and get them just done in if it really bothers you.

Does your friend get those tray whitening methods or the laser? Because I know the laser method costs like $1,000 or so. TOO MUCH DOUGH :(

Mandee, you are coming to England => you should be getting them yellowed to fit in.

Don't bother with your bottom teeth, it's yr top teeth that are most visible when you smile.

also paint-on stuff = less of a hassle than strips

Mandee, she uses the tray one. The laser one is way too much for her too. I think it's a couple hundred for a professinal tray? The one that's molded exactly to your teeth.

The problem with the paint-on brands is that you have to sit and grin for a couple minutes while it dries cos if your lips touch you'll lose it.

How do those teeth whitening things work? Just paint your teeth and a week or two later it's gone again? Or does it actually work?

The whole laser idea sounds absolutely awful to my ears. But it might just be because I don't like the idea of Turrican attacking my mouth.

At least some of them work by stripping off the stained layer of enamel, which is horribly bad for your teeth since ... well, you need that enamel, and if you keep doing that you will have shiny, whitened slivers which will be easy to remove to make room for the dentures. I don't know if that's how the laser treatment works or not, but it's the way many of the drugstore kits do it.

I like the method that looks like Twink or Tippex or whatever

I like the idea of coloring my teeth blue
