Returned home during a crazy rainstorm to a scene of chaos and slight devastation in my apartment building. The roof apparently couldn't take it anymore and now many apartments (including my kitchen & bathroom) are full of dirty water. Oy.

the fire alarm keeps going off!

s1utsky (slutsky), Monday, 11 August 2003 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Aaack. Anything (i.e. that belongs to you, not the stuff the landlord will have to replace anyway) damaged?

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 11 August 2003 21:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Only some toilet paper. But it had sentimental value.

Slutsky, I feel your pain. I flooded my flat (entirely through my own fault) and literally whenever I see a jet of high pressure water these days I feel like I'm going to have a panic attack. It happened tonight on TB. [shudder]

Hope there's not too much damage and things get back to normal soon.

Yeah, I'm more concerned about the other people in the building, some of whom seem to have it way worse. And my buddy who's away on vacation; I better get the key off the super and look in to make sure everything's all right, yeepers.

No drips from upstairs this morning S1utsky, so SW0's place must be fine. That wierd skylight/shaft in my bathroom is still a murky aquarium tho. god I hope no molluscs decide to start growing in there.

Yeah, I went in and checked, it looks okay. Seems like he was the only one unaffected... and he's got a pretty good alibi...

s1utsky (slutsky), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 15:54 (twenty-two years ago)

(ew i just realized the skylight is dry now - what i took to be water trapped outside is actually THICK DARK MOLD which grew inside overnight) '

s1utsky (slutsky), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 21:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Fuck man. That's horrible. It was INSANE yesterday. Apparently it was pretty much isolated in the Mile End area...I had a lot of my apartment soaked too, but nothing so devestating. I feel for you. I've not seen a storm like that for ages.

Yeah, my CD player got fried, but luckily nothing else.

That plan to drown Jerry The Nipper backfired, did it?

Slutsky, this is indeed awful!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 12:28 (twenty-two years ago)

slutsky any chance you live under mark s?

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 12:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Our roof sucks. Since we've been renting this apartment, we've had a shower in the pantry, a waterfall behind the bed, and a delicate trickle in the living room.

Sarah MCLusky (coco), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha! My skylight is so fucked up that in the winter it often snows in my bathroom and kitchen. It's like a Christmas miracle.
