Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 00:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Is that Michael Dukakis?

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 00:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Every kid needs one of those George Bush dolls.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Tuesday, 12 August 2003 00:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I was seriously considering one of the Bush dolls (to go with my Living Dead Doll collection), but they're $40!

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 00:35 (twenty-two years ago)

haha - 'must be Republican to afford this'

nnnh oh oh nnnh nnnh oh (James Blount), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 01:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd hope/suspect this was a hoax or satire, but after that right wing ice cream thing all bets are off

nnnh oh oh nnnh nnnh oh (James Blount), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 01:44 (twenty-two years ago)

That was confirmed real?

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 01:58 (twenty-two years ago)

yup

nnnh oh oh nnnh nnnh oh (James Blount), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 02:06 (twenty-two years ago)

well, you can never be completely sure of someone's sincerity, but it's "real"

nnnh oh oh nnnh nnnh oh (James Blount), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 02:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I guess it's vaguely reassuring to know right wingers have as few qualms ripping off each other as they do ripping off the rest of the world

nnnh oh oh nnnh nnnh oh (James Blount), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 02:07 (twenty-two years ago)

They got the utterly-confused-but-struggling-to-project-resolve countenance perfect!

amateurist (amateurist), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 02:47 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, the eyebrows look spot on!

nnnh oh oh nnnh nnnh oh (James Blount), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 02:49 (twenty-two years ago)

It would be fun to dress up in the purple leather bondage gear the gay Ken would wear. Then I would have him make the sex with My Little Pony.

Larcole (Nicole), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 02:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Isn't that the outfit that was accentuating Bush's crotch, as Richard Goldstein had to point out?

rosemary (rosemary), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 03:00 (twenty-two years ago)

what foreign policy does by other means...

amateurist (amateurist), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 03:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha ha ha, this is funny cuz Dubya never actually fought in any conflict evah!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 11:43 (twenty-two years ago)

But mainly cos as Larcole said he's going to be in a million unlikely sexual positions very soon

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 11:45 (twenty-two years ago)

America, you never cease to amaze me! Thanks for all the fun and entertainment, it's been great!

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 12:06 (twenty-two years ago)

that's NOTHING, Tuomas! here, we call lifts "elevators", and television is known as "TV"! also, the Gallagher Bros are known as established hitmakers and not fucking drunk wankers!

what a kuWAZAY world we live in! what a country!

Kingfish (Kingfish), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 12:44 (twenty-two years ago)

No we think they're drunk wankers here too.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 12:50 (twenty-two years ago)

We call television "TV" as well. And a toilet is known as "WC". It's the distance that makes the exoticness.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 12:51 (twenty-two years ago)

So is there an Osama Bin Laden action figure out there somewhere too?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 12:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Wouldn't it be awesome to own this GI Bush AND the Jesus figurine?!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:00 (twenty-two years ago)

There's an Osama Halloween mask. I wanted to stuff one and mount it on my grill hunter-style, but never found one actually for sale.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Also one of the Spice Girls dolls.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I have all 5 of those! I am so sad, but I just thought they were too funny to pass up.

Larcole (Nicole), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I had the Geri doll but my sister stole her!!

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:02 (twenty-two years ago)

i have multiple officemates who bought ALL FIVE N'sync bobbleheads, which they all proudly display without a trace of irony.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:03 (twenty-two years ago)

One of my coworkers has a talking Fat Bastard on his desk.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:04 (twenty-two years ago)

That's funny, one of my coworkers IS a talking Fat Bastard (with his belly) on his desk!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Seriously though, don't the people that make these things know anything about Dubya's actual personal history? This is more ridiculous than a Jimmy Carter Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, WTF?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:07 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.livingdeaddolls.com/

The only proper response to N'Sync bobbleheads.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:09 (twenty-two years ago)

That is so goth it's not even funny.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Or if you have a small desk:

Knowing is half the battle.

bnw (bnw), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 20:29 (twenty-two years ago)

A friend sends this. It's a recruitment poster for Japan's "Self-Defense Forces" (military).

Go Go Gadget!

nnnh oh oh nnnh nnnh oh (James Blount), Thursday, 14 August 2003 05:53 (twenty-two years ago)

two months pass...
Go! Go! Peace! is the best slogan ever?

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 14 October 2003 12:57 (twenty-two years ago)

but they're all not giving the "V!" hand signal, so i get the feeling that their hearts really are just not into it.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Tuesday, 14 October 2003 13:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't have my glasses on, but is the girl in the middle row, second from the left, making the "call me" hand signal?

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 14 October 2003 13:07 (twenty-two years ago)

i think so. as is the one on the bottom left.
you gonna call her or what¿

dyson (dyson), Tuesday, 14 October 2003 13:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll try 1-800-GO-GO-PAX

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 14 October 2003 13:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I wonder if the Dubya doll - excuse me, sorry, action figure - comes with an optional Test Flights Over Texas Were The Extent of My Military Career playset?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 14 October 2003 13:32 (twenty-two years ago)

one month passes...

Hunter (Hunter), Monday, 8 December 2003 01:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Holy shit, Mad's gotten VICIOUS.

nate detritus (natedetritus), Monday, 8 December 2003 02:07 (twenty-two years ago)

the F102 bit was a nice touch, if a bit harsh.

Kingfish Beestick (Kingfish), Monday, 8 December 2003 02:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I had the Geri doll but my sister stole her!!

Reading this, I thought Ally said "I had the Geir doll" and I was sore afeared.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 8 December 2003 02:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Is that really from Mad? That's far more political than I've ever seen them be. No ear-size jokes? No fart jokes?

Dan I. (Dan I.), Monday, 8 December 2003 02:41 (twenty-two years ago)

mad went thru a re-vamp in the mid-late 90's.

Kingfish Beestick (Kingfish), Monday, 8 December 2003 02:55 (twenty-two years ago)

it's a political magazine now.

dyson (dyson), Monday, 8 December 2003 05:06 (twenty-two years ago)

and those gijoe cartoons are the best things ever.

dyson (dyson), Monday, 8 December 2003 05:07 (twenty-two years ago)

nine years pass...

Zartan's twin sister Zarana seems like a mix of Wendy O Williams and Linnea Quigley's zombie stripper punk from Revenge of the Living Dead.

Also, I didn't know the show only had like two seasons originally.

Hockey Drunk (kingfish), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 02:34 (twelve years ago)

seasons for those afternoon animated shows were crazy long though, two seasons = 85 episodes. plus when you're younger time elapses much more slowly, i read the comics devoutly for what felt like along time when i was a kid and one night i looked up covers online to see where i roughly got on and got off the bus and total timespan was barely over two years.

balls, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 02:45 (twelve years ago)

I think I made it into the third year of the comic books but didn't finish it - I got off the train not long after Snake Eyes' amazing origin story.

EZ Snappin, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 04:27 (twelve years ago)

Also, the networks would start airing repeats of the first three weeks in the first quarter, stretching out the season into February or March.

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 15:10 (twelve years ago)

also: first G.I. Joe movie  – about the MASS Device – aired in '82 or '83, a full two years before the show became a fixture.
