...until the next one.

Sorry for the shock tactics but this is short notice - some of us are going to the pub tonight, we thought you might like to come. It's the HOLE IN THE WALL near Waterloo Station under the arches. I'll be there when I finish my work (about 6.30, fingers crossed), Tim and Carsmile possibly earlier.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:27 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.fancyapint.com/thepubs/pub1004.htm to be precise.

yes, possibly earlier, also in the front bar, not the back one.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)

yer avin a larf aintcha?

have fun, i'll be at another one soon

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:31 (twenty-two years ago)

this is apparently the first south east london FAP EVER!! i'm a little apprehensive myself

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, I've actually been to this pub before. RAD, d00d.

Mandee, Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:39 (twenty-two years ago)

i might go, but i really need a break from going out, and i feel pretty ropey, but on the other hand...

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I can come! I will come! Tim I see Tom went over your head with the SE love.

Sam (chirombo), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Ooooh, beer.

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Sam that sounds horrible. See you in a little while.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:42 (twenty-two years ago)

ooh this is quite tempting. i'm just back from holiday (like an hour ago) and beer... mmm.

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:59 (twenty-two years ago)

otoh common sense is kicking in and suggesting that getting the tube all the way down to waterloo from willesden might be an error. hmm.

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

But think of the lovely beer.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Waterloo in SE London Shockah!

Dave B (daveb), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:17 (twenty-two years ago)

well, i suppose, technically, it is SE1

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Ooooh. I'm in, if I can get what I'm doing finished in time. I've been pining for the pub of late: and the last FAP I was at rocked hardcore.

cis (cis), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

"Technically"?

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

the last time i looked it was across the wobbly blue/grey stuff with boats on therefore it = south

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:26 (twenty-two years ago)

It's not PROPER South East London if it's in Zone 1. South East London by its very nature is miles away from proper London.

I'm not sure if I can make this, but have fun nonetheless.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:30 (twenty-two years ago)

i want to go :(

geeta (geeta), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:30 (twenty-two years ago)

OK. It is S and therefore a Very Good Thing (ha - VG Thing - crap pop from northern grocery stores in the mid 1980s). I was quibbling about the SE aspect. Matt is OTM about Z1 but v v wrong to say that it is not proper London.

Dave B (daveb), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

It's only Proper London if it's in Zone 1 (I'm almost being ironic here but its deep engrained in me from when I was a nipper and only went Up London two or three times a year and THEN it felt like proper London).

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

someone tell martin skidmore otherwise he might miss this: he only checks ILX at lunchtime during work hours (don't know if he checks jus before he leaves the office). How could you be so cruel tom? ;)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:37 (twenty-two years ago)

In that classic (ie, uber Dud) SE English way, you're going to tell me that coming up to London was in some counter-intuitive way, from somewhere North of London?

Dave B (daveb), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Dave, watch it or you'll get the train buffs all aeriated.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Does that mean they hang around airports instead?

Dave B (daveb), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes can someone text Martin if they have his number!

There is now a chance I won't be able to make this! But if I can't at least I know my actions have brought ruin ahem joy to many others.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

"Dude, it's the last FAP, let's go!"

"It's not the last FAP, they're just calling it that."

"But what if it is?"

"It isn't, they wouldn't do that."

"No, this is exactly the sort of thing they'd do. They're crazy!"

(sigh)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:46 (twenty-two years ago)

we're drinking cocktails at home = i'm not coming along, i'm afraid.

(also possibly = i will be v v drunk before 6, oh well.)

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Be sure to have a game on their knackered old SW:EP1 pinball and report back if by any chance they've changed it. I can't make it due to prior pub engagement - have fun!

Simeon (Simeon), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

tom, just leave the phones, they'll still be there tomorrow ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:49 (twenty-two years ago)

It's not the phones, the rabbit is ill :(

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

oh no! rabbit! oh no!

also ANDREW THIS IS DEFINATELY NOT THE LAST FAP, i'm going to see about more FT club nites before i come to the pub, so save up your sanity for those :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

haha "save up your sanity"

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:58 (twenty-two years ago)

also I'm working on a treatment for my new film idea: "Tom E: Rabbit Doctor"

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

also FISHCOTHEQUE!

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 15:01 (twenty-two years ago)

oh, eek, shaln't make this one chaps.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Two hours notice? That's crazy talk! You'll be there on your own Tom.

gobemouche, Tuesday, 12 August 2003 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Rabbit crisis abated - she's off to the vet tomorrow morning and will probably lose an eye, making her a PIRATE RABBIT!

i.e. I will be out for a beer.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 15:53 (twenty-two years ago)

...but not until a bit later.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 15:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I am very touched that people thought of letting me know. I must add my work email address to my profile here so that maybe people will think of dropping me a line when there is a short notice one in future. (Julio, I only look in at 4.55 or something if I'm expecting to FAP, to check who's showing up when.)

But after the stress of the horrible eye troubles yesterday (I was already sleeping badly due to heat, and this worry didn't help) I don't know that I'd have felt up to it tonight anyway.
