Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 21:44 (twenty-two years ago)

How am I supposed to have the appetite to go out for pizza now??? Thanks a million, Rage Againt the Raggett...

Larcole (Nicole), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 21:47 (twenty-two years ago)

You plan on going out and having pizza and not sharing with any of us = I punish. Though it is your birthday, I suppose I should have waited a day.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 21:50 (twenty-two years ago)

When news first broke that Sizemore and Fleiss were together, I was all excited, cuz it was like an old movie, Sarge finally settling down with the cathouse madam. But then bad shit happened to temper my enthusiasm for this particular pairing.

s1utsky (slutsky), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 21:51 (twenty-two years ago)

"All the time we shared, all the experiences, it came down to 'I'm going to kill your brother'," she said.

Doesn't it always?

amateurist (amateurist), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 21:53 (twenty-two years ago)

She said that in an alleged incident in May 2002, Mr Sizemore had [...] left her with a "black eye and fat lip".

OMG look at her, she still has them. Or is that an old photo?

Sommermute (Wintermute), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 22:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Seriously though, isn't there something not nice about calling people horrifying and making fun of how they look when they're crying?

s1utsky (slutsky), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 22:04 (twenty-two years ago)

B-b-b-but...

Sommermute (Wintermute), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 22:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I actually had the hotts for her once.

Leeeigh (Leee), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 22:11 (twenty-two years ago)

fucked that up something proper, then, eh? argh.

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 22:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Seriously though, isn't there something not nice about calling people horrifying and making fun of how they look when they're crying?

I might feel more charitable if Fleiss didn't look like a plastic surgery disaster in literal meltdown mode.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 22:46 (twenty-two years ago)

So because she has bad plastic surgery, she's an appropriate object of your contempt?

amateurist (amateurist), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 01:03 (twenty-two years ago)

ned caught in being mean shocker?!?!
no!!!!!!!

lolita corpus (lolitacorpus), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 01:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I was going to say something about plastic surgery being a choice, but then I thought hmmm in Fleiss' Hollywood etc circles, maybe it effectively isn't anymore?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 01:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Even if it is a choice, does that means it designates a lower moral status then?

s1utsky (slutsky), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 01:54 (twenty-two years ago)

What better gauge is there? (assuming any status is going to be assigned at all)

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 01:59 (twenty-two years ago)

"righteous works"

s1utsky (slutsky), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 01:59 (twenty-two years ago)

actions then - isn't that effectively the same as a choice?

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 02:01 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, but why is getting plastic surgery an immoral action?

s1utsky (slutsky), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 02:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Why is not actively feeling sorry for someone who wasted a load of money on elective surgery immoral? I mean, I'd rather it hadn't happened to her, I have nothing against her, but I don't really give a shit either way

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 02:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Though yeah, maybe we really should judge people for their desires instead - even if they resist 'em.

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 02:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Hoo boy. As plastic surgery can run the gamut on everything from purely elective 'let me puff up my lips' work to in-depth efforts to help someone recover after a horrific, tragic accident or circumstance -- something which may well never result in a 'good' job no matter what time or effort spent on it -- I refuse to fully get drawn by the questions here, as I admit I wasn't expecting to cause such discussion, so slap me down on that point of posting-before-thinking if you like. At the same time, pace Sommermute, I somehow find it hard to believe that nobody here has ever not had a similarly visceral and perhaps not-rational-at-all reaction towards a spectacularly unflattering celeb shot, regardless of circumstance.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 02:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I absolutely have, and I admit I was playin' a little devil's advocate there.

s1utsky (slutsky), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 02:07 (twenty-two years ago)

But I stick to my point--the woman's in court describing how she was beaten, she's in tears... etc etc

s1utsky (slutsky), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 02:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, "designating moral status" isn't really what we're getting at here - that's just a nicer way to say that some people think others totally deserve what they get... and possibly get a little teensy tiny bit smug about it. (guilty as charged)

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 02:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Kurt Vonnegut on the funniest thing he ever saw (I paraphrase): he was near a bus stop, bus pulls up, door opens and a man falls face down on the curb. Clearly it wasn't funny to the guy in question, etc.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 02:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I never see why people use those as examples of how nasty humour basically is, or whatever grand point they're trying to make about humanity, the examples always sound horrible.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 02:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Horrible = horrifying = thread comes full circle good night folks. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 02:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I honestly don't know if I've ever felt the urge to mock a celebrity for their appearance, unless it was something fleeting like a poor choice of award-show wardrobe.

amateurist (amateurist), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 02:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Not even Michael Jackson? Ever?

s1utsky (slutsky), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 02:34 (twenty-two years ago)

most horrifying couple alive?
*Heh* I'm not talking!

Orbit (Orbit), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 03:25 (twenty-two years ago)

She paid a lot of money to look good=vanity
now it doesn't matter how much money you spend she looks like shit=irony.

Nellie (nellskies), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 04:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, how ironic that she looks like shit while she's weeping and recounting being physically abused!

s1utsky (slutsky), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 04:46 (twenty-two years ago)

(sorry)

s1utsky (slutsky), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 04:46 (twenty-two years ago)

cherie blair to thread

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 04:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Fleiss is no fan of courtrooms, so these must be pretty serious charges.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 13:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Tom Sizemore's role in _Strange Days_ is probably not helping his cause right about now...

Kingfish (Kingfish), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 15:14 (twenty-two years ago)

other contenders:

funny how much easier it was to find a picture of the kilshaws than the hamiltons

j0e (j0e), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 15:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I guess since they broke up they're no longer in the running, but MAN were they a scary couple:

yank, Thursday, 14 August 2003 02:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Ms Fleiss, 37, had also told the couty the actor had destroyed a collection of figurines with a baseball bat, and that she had also become upset when she learned he was allegedly using prostitutes on a film shoot.

Do you see? Do you see?! Tom Sizemore fucking hates ornaments too!

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Thursday, 14 August 2003 08:07 (twenty-two years ago)

"Using", what a delightful turn of phrase. Yeah, fuck ornaments, unless they're action figures

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 14 August 2003 08:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Thursday, 14 August 2003 12:32 (twenty-two years ago)
