Tomoko Sawada

Does anyone know anything about this artist/self-photographer? I am looking forward to seeing her exhibit--but it's at a stuffy midtown gallery. I suppose that's no worse than a stuffy downtown gallery--except I'll have to get on a train to go there. Anyway, people compare her to Nikki Lee, but this seems more interesting to me, perhaps because she is playing with Japanese culture rather than American culture. The more I think about it, it's really too bad this wasn't at a public musuem like the New Museum in Soho or the Brooklyn Museum, but maybe that will come later.
