What is the general feeling about spanking?

OK I'll out myself completely anonymously (is that possible?) and say I enjoy being spanked (as long as it's not too hard).

Missy Anon, Wednesday, 13 August 2003 13:10 (twenty-two years ago)

oh christ - "as long as it's not too hard"... that didn't come out quite as I meant it...

Missy Anon, Wednesday, 13 August 2003 13:14 (twenty-two years ago)

You have to put a real name or no one will respond.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 13:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Classic obviously, if you like it!

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)

**You have to put a real name or no one will respond.**

b-but I'm too shy! *sob*

*scurries away to leave her thread to die the death of a thousand something or others*

Missy Anon, Wednesday, 13 August 2003 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

oh no, it's not gunna die now. not 'til we figure out who you are, and how naughty you've been.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:01 (twenty-two years ago)

It's not about being naughty, it's about the fantasy of being submissive.

Missy Anon, Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Isn't it among the corniest ways to be kinky?

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, I thought this was gong to be about spanking kids.

rosemary (rosemary), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm all for it. Bring it on!

Damn, and here I honestly thought we were gonna have a discussion on parenting! Maybe I'm not such a perv after all!

(x-post!)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm surprised by the amount of women who enjoy it. Or maybe I've just been sleeping with the wrong women. Or the right women, or something.

Matt (Matt), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Uh, I didn't mean to bring the spanking on to kids or uh whatever.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

ILX has at least TWO non-pervs shocker!

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

there was that ad for (what, selfridges ?) some clothing
store anyway that was a close up of a cute bare b*ttock with
red hand print on. it was definitely at the coffee table end
of the s+m spectrum but they must have assumed that a massiv
-o amount of people *like* that sorta thing. it wouldnt have
been all o'er the pages of time out otherwise right ?

**Isn't it among the corniest ways to be kinky?**

You know, I never stop to consider in those situations whether I'm being corny or not.

Missy Anon, Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I get it. Just a little pain to offset and enhance pleasure. Just a little, mind you.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

i think i'd like to give but not receive - oo-er

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:17 (twenty-two years ago)

This reminds me of a Law & Order episode we watched last night. It was a REALLY old one. Anyway, it was an S&M murder case and the dominatrix was played by the widow on six feet under!

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I kinda thought most people did this a little bit.

Mary Gaitskill to thread.

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I always feel corny when I try to get, uh, freaky.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:25 (twenty-two years ago)

It's not about being naughty, it's about the fantasy of being submissive.

well, you can butter your tea however you like, but the end result tends to be the shame.

I feel very proud that the thread hasn't involved in people trying to guess the identity of Missy Anon. Bravo ILE!

Is it Dee?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:29 (twenty-two years ago)

It's Ally's sister.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:29 (twenty-two years ago)

it wasn't me!

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Now let's change the subject to CORN. Corn is sexy.

Sarah MCLuskyu (coco), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm currently eating popcorn. mmm...

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Corn itself, or just the cob?

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Call me Sprout

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:32 (twenty-two years ago)

cornflakes = not sexy at all! plus also probably the most uncomfortable thing to involve in any bedroom situation...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:36 (twenty-two years ago)

cream corn

Haikunym (Haikunym), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Get Dan Perry out of my head!

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Sex is corny. We're at our most ridiculous in bed and there's no getting around that. You've just got to try not to be too self-conscious about it.

Missy Anon, Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:39 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.osric.com/~jeremy/corn.jpg

i think there's a reason why somebody wanted us to change the thread topic.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Everyone was saying "corny." It was the obvious route.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Korn-and-the-story-of-where-their-name-came-from to thread!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I think it's safe to say I have no small degree of self-consciousness when I'm naked.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought this was going to be about smacking children, too.

If anyone tried spanking me, I'd probably wallop him. There again, he might like that. Oh dear.

C J (C J), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

So I search for 'cornholio,' I get this:

C J (C J), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:52 (twenty-two years ago)

how do you know it's not freshly purchased right from the store? perhaps that lad has odd ways of breaking in his clothing.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:56 (twenty-two years ago)

and yet he is so red and sweaty, im fairly sure a corn cob may be in the process of insertion somewhere

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 14:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 14 August 2003 05:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Elliot (Elliot), Thursday, 14 August 2003 05:52 (twenty-two years ago)

prude, where the fuck did you find that one?

GIS is eeevil.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Thursday, 14 August 2003 15:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Let's stop talking about erotic spanking and go back to spanking as child discipline. I would like for someone to explain to me why spanking a child is evil and wrong.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 14 August 2003 15:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Let's stop talking about erotic

Okay, who broke Dan?

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 14 August 2003 15:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I would like for someone to explain to me why spanking a child is evil and wrong

the idea is that while it may discipline a child into no longer committing the spankable offence, introducing violence to them directly in this way sets them on a path on which they may end up a destructive/aggressive/violent person when they are older, possibly to extreme levels.

i'm not sure i agree with this theory but it does make you question whether spanking should be the absolute last resort or just discouraged completely

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 14 August 2003 15:41 (twenty-two years ago)

i was hardly ever 'spanked' or 'smacked' and never too nastily - but i played with toy guns and watched violent tv shows all the time as a youth. but for many years now i have considered myself quite the pacifist. i don't like to see violence being used unless as a last-resort form of defence (obv. true pacifists refuse even this) and i never hit out at anything unless sorely provoked. i think this reluctance actually came more from general lethargy in my youth, combined with a few humilating experiences in the playground ;)

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 14 August 2003 15:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Let's stop talking about erotic spanking and go back to spanking as child discipline. I would like for someone to explain to me why spanking a child is evil and wrong.

Also, bosses should be able to spank employees. It's an effective way of instilling discipline, and much quicker than explaining stuff. (Children can't move to different parents, of course, but employees can look for another job. To combat this, ALL bosses must be legally obliged to fulfil spanking quotas.)

I certainly don't as I think it's complete and utter bullshit.

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 14 August 2003 16:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I've been slapped in the face at work, it's totally great!

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 14 August 2003 16:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Was it like the scene in Airplane?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 14 August 2003 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think Secretary was particularly erotic or "bleh", I think it was actually a very very sweet twee cutesy (albeit in a very disturbing way) romantic love story!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 14 August 2003 16:24 (twenty-two years ago)

What woman doesn't appreciate a firm open-palmed smack on the behind as a compliment for a job well done?

ModJ, Thursday, 14 August 2003 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

There was a good bit of ass-slapping at one of my former workplaces, but the men got groped as much as the women. Equal opportunity perviness.

JuliaA (j_bdules), Thursday, 14 August 2003 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I have coworkers grabbing my ass and my breasts at like every party we have and sometimes at not parties as well!

Seriously I am not making this up! My office is exactly what you people are talking about. Let me tell you, it doesn't work out at all!

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 14 August 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

For you, maybe

ModJ, Thursday, 14 August 2003 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Dude maybe if they spent less time talking about my ass and more time talking about the mold in DC, the company wouldn't be going under.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 14 August 2003 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, yeah, don't stay in the DC Ritz on M Street, people. Just trust me on that, it's way worse than the Washington Times made out. You just didn't hear that from me.

It is, as long as you let the children know what exactly they're being spanked for. Preferably beforehand. No pun intended.

Sommermute (Wintermute), Thursday, 14 August 2003 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Does this also work with adults?

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 14 August 2003 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

An old girlfriend of mine eventually got around to admitting that she wanted to be spanked, just to see what it was like. I think she dug it, but we were both a bit freaked out by it. We were kind of winding down anyway, which probably didn't help. In retrospect, maybe I should have spanked her a lot harder.

Parentally, spanking is widely considered a no-no because a) it introduces violence to the child as a solution to interpersonal problems, and b) it is hitting a child, albeit kinda far down on the violence-against-children continuum.

As a child I was spanked and my mom even even hit in the head with a hairbrush once when she was really mad (I was already taller than her, so maybe she felt justified in escalating). Also, I was paddled in school--as late as junior high. We used to scare each other with folk tales about the formidable paddles the various teachers used--the ultimate was to claim a paddle had a lot of holes, cause that was supposed to mean it swung faster and hurt worse.

Lee G (Lee G), Thursday, 14 August 2003 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)

It is, as long as you let the children know what exactly they're being spanked for. Preferably beforehand. No pun intended.

EXACTLY. If you spank children for no discernable reason, OF COURSE the discipline won't work. If you spank your children too often, they get used to it and you have to escalate the force to put across the same message.

Reasoning with children does not always work and I don't think it's helping parents to make one of their discipline tools grounds for having their kids taken away.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 14 August 2003 17:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I am not in favour of hitting adults to teach them a lesson, and it somehow seems even wronger to hit children when they can't even hit back very well.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 14 August 2003 17:07 (twenty-two years ago)

can we go back to talking about spanking a naughty girl with a corn cob?

also, decking people inna face = fun, even if your hand hurts a lot afterward. Like Macguyver's would.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Thursday, 14 August 2003 17:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm all for that, Kingfish, even though earlier I wanted to renounce my corn affiliation.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 14 August 2003 17:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I may never have spanked before.

David. (Cozen), Thursday, 14 August 2003 17:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Right. Corn cobs, naughtiness, etc.

Lee G (Lee G), Thursday, 14 August 2003 17:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Am I the last person on Earth who thinks there is a difference between SPANKING someone and HITTING someone?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 14 August 2003 17:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't even think I could get away with spanking people at work who annoy me.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 14 August 2003 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh dear, I think spanking is start to go the way of "Eat a bag of dicks".

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 14 August 2003 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, that was outlawed in the latest memo from personnel too.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 14 August 2003 17:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Am I the last person on Earth who thinks there is a difference between SPANKING someone and HITTING someone?

Not at all -- I just don't like to get into this particular argument. I was occasionally spanked as a kid. I had kids. I spanked occasionally. The older they got, the more feasible it was to say "if you do X, you can't have dessert/go to your friends'/whatever," but there are ages and stages at which that won't work, and "when you do that, it makes mommy feel bad" is emotional blackmail of the darkest sort.
