Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 14 August 2003 18:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Mostly I just get flyers for local stores, and Victoria's Secret catalogs nearly every damn day just because I've ordered from them once or twice.

Larcole (Nicole), Thursday, 14 August 2003 18:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh my god I get like 5 Victoria's Secret catalogs per day.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 14 August 2003 18:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Isn't it sick? Even somebody who only wore Victoria's Secret stuff and ordered from them every day doesn't need that many catalogs.

Larcole (Nicole), Thursday, 14 August 2003 18:37 (twenty-two years ago)

bills, bar association shit, generic mass-mailers

Tad (llamasfur), Thursday, 14 August 2003 18:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Time Out, Unemployment Insurance checks, credit card solicitations.

hstencil, Thursday, 14 August 2003 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

The catalog thing is frightening, I'm like I really don't order that much from them since I cancelled my Victoria's Secret card, I don't think I've ordered from the catalog in at least a year--why?

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 14 August 2003 18:43 (twenty-two years ago)

i get j crew, ll bean, and jos. a bank catalogs all the time.

How To Draw The Nipples Back On Victoria's Secret Catalogue Models Using Adobe Photoshop

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 14 August 2003 18:50 (twenty-two years ago)

So that's how you spend your time at work.

Larcole (Nicole), Thursday, 14 August 2003 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Between the girl and I, a whole lot of magazines. Esquire, Details, Texas Monthly, Atlantic Monthly, Bitch, Lucky, The New Yorker, Pages, The Believer, Readerville, Gourmet, Bon Appetit, Ready Made... there are more, I think. It's ridiculous.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 14 August 2003 18:55 (twenty-two years ago)

The only magazines I currently subscribe to are Gourmet and Toyfare. I don't need to subscribe to the Economist because I can read it at work.

Larcole (Nicole), Thursday, 14 August 2003 18:57 (twenty-two years ago)

a cd, chapbook, postcard, bills, the tablet, a couple of bills, some flyers.

How To Draw The Nipples Back On Pictures of Finance Ministers in The Economist Using Adobe Photoshop

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 14 August 2003 19:01 (twenty-two years ago)

See? This tells us everything. Kenan reads a lot, and Ally and Nicolars wear underwear.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 14 August 2003 19:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I get it all; coupon booklets, credit card solicitations, Victoria Secret catalogs, Journeys catalogs, bills long unpaid, bank statements, insurance crap, "you may have already won five hundred gazillion trillion dollars!" shit, and a whole assload of extremely shit magazines (Rolling Stone, Spin, Downbeat, Parenting, etc.) some decent ones (Atlantic Monthly, Time, etc.) and one hella awesome one (Too Much Coffee Man, although it's kinda more of a comic though innit?). I also get Fair Trade coffee beans delivered to my home every month.

AND NO I DON'T GET HIGH TIMES IN THE MAIL HOWZABOUT DEM APPULZ!?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 14 August 2003 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Hippies are so sensitive.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 14 August 2003 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Magnet magazine sends me come-ons incessantly even though I only had a subscription for a year and that was ages ago. They appear to desperately want me back.

Otherwise, it's Tv Guide, bills, bills, bills, and netflix dvds when I bother to watch the ones I have and return them.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Thursday, 14 August 2003 19:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Bills. Other peoples mail (outnumbers my mail). Mouser Electronics Catalogs. Analog Sci/Fi Mag.

Dale the Titled (cprek), Thursday, 14 August 2003 19:25 (twenty-two years ago)

See? This tells us everything. Kenan reads a lot

No, I get a lot of magazines. Huge difference.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 14 August 2003 19:26 (twenty-two years ago)

No, I get a lot of magazines. Huge difference.

Well, okay. But feasibly, the girls aren't wearing their underwear, either, I was just gonna assume the positive in both cases.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 14 August 2003 19:28 (twenty-two years ago)

mail = letter from my grandma, card from my cousin caroline who is obssessed with lifetime channel and danielle steele, national geographic, parking ticket non payment threat letters, bills, hopefully package from my friend carey in the uk containing a certain pink dress and a good book, letter from hermit great aunt evelynn (sometimes a box). envelopes with suspicous white powder addressed to dale the titled.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Thursday, 14 August 2003 19:28 (twenty-two years ago)

What fell in the mail today: sympathy card from an old neighbor who just recently found out, two junk mailings, statement from clinic, and mailing from blood center informing of the next blood drive. We get Taste of Home and Good Housekeeping delivered to us; if I weren't such a packrat and we had more money we'd certainly get more magazines. (Personally, I highly approve of the Atlantic Monthly selection and would love to subscribe to it.) We mainly get boring things in the mail, though.

Just Deanna (Dee the Lurker), Thursday, 14 August 2003 20:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I get bank statements, credit card statements, cell phone bill, The New Yorker, and the Musician's Friend catalog. About seven or eight times a month I get packages from AB-CD.com, yesasia.com, Amazon.com, or one of its affiliates. That's it!

Millar (Millar), Thursday, 14 August 2003 20:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh I forgot about Musician's FIEND, I delve deeper into that shit than any actual magazine I get (even though it's the almost the exact same every month)! I also get Carvin catalogs like every other month.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 14 August 2003 20:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh and I was getting the LL Bean catalog for a while but I think they quit.

Millar (Millar), Thursday, 14 August 2003 20:31 (twenty-two years ago)

bills bills bills

amateurist (amateurist), Thursday, 14 August 2003 20:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Bizarrely enough, I get Victoria's Secret catalogs all the time as well. I have never ordered from them or set foot inside one of their stores. I can only conclude they really like my stunning cleavage.

Normally in mailbox: eight million free coupons and things, various magazines, CD packages, notes from my mom (everyone else just sends me e-mail!), checks and so forth.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 15 August 2003 13:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I got my AFC Wimbledon season ticket in the post today! My first season ticket ever!

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 15 August 2003 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I ordered a gift for my ex (before she was my ex obv.) from Victoria Secret back in '01 and I still get the catalogs!

I found my most recent Campmor catalog under a pile of shit coupons yesterday yay! I'm'a order me a new tent!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 15 August 2003 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

OK seriously what I got in the mail yesterday: a Burberry's catalog, an Ikea catalog, an preapproved Capital One card offer, two Victoria's Secret catalogs and a Fredericks catalog, my cell phone bill, a postcard.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 15 August 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

How much underwear do these people think I need! I already can't fit it all in my dresser!!!

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 15 August 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Please talk about underwear less; some of us are British and have girlfriends.

In my mailbox? Bank statement, credit card statement, CDs in jiffy bags. Very little else.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 15 August 2003 14:05 (twenty-two years ago)

In my regular mailbox, bank statements, the usual crap. But according to my emailbox, my penis is too small.

Susan (Susan), Friday, 15 August 2003 14:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Do British men with girlfriends have no underwear? Is this a law over there? Weird, I like it.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 15 August 2003 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Now I'm feeling even worse.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 15 August 2003 14:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Please, it's hot and I'm wearing baggy shorts.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 15 August 2003 14:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Does every ILX thread turn into this these days? Is it the summer heat?

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 15 August 2003 14:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Yep.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 15 August 2003 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

You never answered the question about the underwear though.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 15 August 2003 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

You have an imagination.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 15 August 2003 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Who says?

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 15 August 2003 15:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I haven't had any mail in two weeks. Oh, except the new Frank Black & the Catholics record. I'm sorta worried.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 15 August 2003 15:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Gordon the Gopher.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 15 August 2003 15:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't even know any gophers.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 15 August 2003 15:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Yet.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 15 August 2003 15:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Victoria's Secret catalogs, Frederick's catalogs, bills I mostly ignore, bank statements, credit card offers, Time, Newsweek, Los Angeles mangazine, the New Yorker and In Style, Sesame Street magazine, lots of stuff about 'hey your kid needs this. really. don't ignore us or we'll come to your house in the middle of the night and hide in your closet with a bag of rats (I think they got the idea from Tep)', and the occasional birthday card from my ex-mother in law signed with her first and last name - just in case we forget her I assume. You know, like you could forget if your entire town had the plague and died and you very nearly almost died, but were only very near death for.. say... ten years and recovered only through some very long, expensive and painful process and you're still a mere shadow of who you once were. You know. Like that.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 15 August 2003 15:11 (twenty-two years ago)

We get Sesame Street. Lukas used the last issue to make an armada of very ineffectual glossy paper airplanes/gigantic friggin mess.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 15 August 2003 15:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Nick! What is that! It's amazing, where can I get one?

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 15 August 2003 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I am proud to say that bags of rats are not my intellectual property. But I'll accept any royalty checks to the contrary.

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 15 August 2003 15:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Credit card statements, truck payment, insurance payment, Dwell Magazine, ReadyMade, RES, Photo District News, LensWork, Juxtapoz, almost-weekly stuff from, DeVry, Texas Tech, the NRA and the local Republican Party

I'll trade NRA/GOP propaganda for Victoria's Secret catalogues.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Friday, 15 August 2003 15:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Los Angeles mangazine?????

I'm shocked this didn't set of the 'page Dan Perry' alarm.

It sounds like I get magazines for transvestites and/or post ops.

However - I assure you, it was a typo - Los Angeles MAGAZINE.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 15 August 2003 15:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I kinda thought it might be a weekly dedicated to the guy on the right:

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 15 August 2003 15:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Sadly, there is a magazine called Mangazine which I will never look at the same way again.

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 15 August 2003 15:27 (twenty-two years ago)

For some reason twenty-something guys are considered to be a bad target group for direct mail advertising, whereas twenty-something girls get a lot ads. All of my female flatmates have gotten ads from women's mags, cosmetics companies, insurance companies etc, whereas the last time I had a direct mail ad was when I turned 18 and a got a couple of them from local driving schools. I understand that Cosmopolitan doesn't include me in it's target group, but why would I be less liable of buying an insurance than my flatmate, who's the same age as me, studies at the same university as me, earns about the same as me, but has a vagina?

The free menstrual towels keep coming at a regular pace too. One of my former flatmates once told me that she didn't need to buy them for some months, because free samples were always coming through our mailbox. The last we got those, there were two towels in the envelope (one of them was huge, I've never met anyone who'd use towels so big) alongside a small bottle of blue liquid, with which you could test the absorption power of the towels, just like in the TV ad. We had fun doing that.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Friday, 15 August 2003 15:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I just got an image of a beach towel used in this capacity and I'm more than a little bit scared.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 15 August 2003 15:33 (twenty-two years ago)

It wasn't that big! Still, it was the largest example of it's kind I've ever seen.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Friday, 15 August 2003 15:35 (twenty-two years ago)

That's Gordon The Gopher, Ally! I'm surprised his fame hasn't spread to the US. I suggest using Google; he's bound to have fansites.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 15 August 2003 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Today's mail:
Big envelope from Cal State Fullerton with crap from my campus mailbox

A bill for $5 from UCLA Med Center

Cell phone bill

California Teacher's Association Union mailing about a Death and Dismemberment Plan that I was evidently automatically enrolled in. (So if Ally gets to me before I get to her, at least *I'm* covered.)

Usual junk mail

Orbit (Orbit), Friday, 15 August 2003 23:00 (twenty-two years ago)

The newest mail I got: "Your personal/travel insurance has been terminated, due to unpaid bills." I guess this tells something about me, mainly that I'm piss poor right now.
