There's currently a rebate scheme for Australian students whereby if you buy an iPod and an iBook/Powerbook you get $300 off. (and also you get the educational discount) The offer expires at the end of September. If you're not a student, you could just get a student friend of yours to buy it for you.
I'm going to split this deal with a friend who has an iPod, but wants an iBook. Under this scheme, a 30gb iPod will only cost me $770, which is a fucking huge saving.
So, like, take advantage of this while it lasts.
