jel -- (jel), Sunday, 17 August 2003 07:56 (twenty-two years ago)

im somewhere south of shit.
i think i am ready to kill people from stress.
i think my blog is dead.
i think my writing is moribund.

anthony easton (anthony), Sunday, 17 August 2003 08:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Tired, and a bit gassy.

I'm [*fingers crossed*] moving soon too, hooray! Maybe then i won't have to wait for Sunday period-drama theatre to get online...

petra jane (petra jane), Sunday, 17 August 2003 08:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Just woken up, I'm drinking tea and listening to Hall and Oates. All is good.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 17 August 2003 08:17 (twenty-two years ago)

im great, well other than general loneliness (lookin' for a woman who ain't got no man, is just lookin' for a needle that's lost in the sand), sittin around in the morning light listenin to chuck berry's "brown eyed hansome man" over and over and over and over again.

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Sunday, 17 August 2003 08:46 (twenty-two years ago)

anthony, tangerines has been terrific recently — really great links and ideas (i only just read it for the first time in ages but i haven't read ANY blogs recently, i just didn't have time)

mark s (mark s), Sunday, 17 August 2003 08:54 (twenty-two years ago)

the cricket is not going very well :-(

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 17 August 2003 11:28 (twenty-two years ago)

This is the last day of my three-day weekend (a nice reward from my employers for working seven 12 or 10-hour days in a row) and I'm happy to say that I've done the proper thing to do with it--nothing. It's nice to do nothing once in a while.

Christine 'Green Leafy Dragon' Indigo (cindigo), Sunday, 17 August 2003 12:51 (twenty-two years ago)

7 10-12 hour days in a row, ugh, i know how that feels, i just done 19 in a row, and im glad to have today to rest

gareth (gareth), Sunday, 17 August 2003 13:01 (twenty-two years ago)

9am, and the eggs were terrible, and I'm out of milk for the coffee. Not a good sign.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Sunday, 17 August 2003 13:04 (twenty-two years ago)

fine, thanks.

BLACKOUT '03! (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 17 August 2003 13:09 (twenty-two years ago)

It's nice to do nothing once in a while.

Hear, hear!

Doing fine for now, off to work today to cover a coworker, who took my Friday shift in turn. I think I will treat myself with a good brunch beforehand, though.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 17 August 2003 13:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I'm ill. The cricket isn't helping matters.

Lynskey (Lynskey), Sunday, 17 August 2003 13:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Doing rather well. Having my morning tea. Going to look at kittens to adopt later in the day.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Sunday, 17 August 2003 13:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm awesome. I could use a bloody mary. I have to drive back home today but whatever.

Millar (Millar), Sunday, 17 August 2003 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Been absolutely great. Been watching pornos alll week. Going to do the same this weekend. May ask the neighbor's wife to either blow me or rub my willie with her big stronng hands.

april skies, Sunday, 17 August 2003 17:09 (twenty-two years ago)

i've been a little squirrelly in a not-good way and have to check myself. mark's comment on tangerines reminded me of the best thing that's going on in my life: the incredibly good peaches that are showing up in los angeles. i'm looking forward to attending the worst-promoted show of my lifetime: sonic youth at the el rey tonight (good sound, erase errata, oldster dance party supreme).

dan (dan), Sunday, 17 August 2003 17:20 (twenty-two years ago)

My BBQd salmon turned into BBQ pork ribs last night, and a midnight swim. Yum *splish splash*. Spirited discussion about Zoroastrianism followed.

Back in LA and doing fine, since I gave up on the (no a/c) apartment and commandeered a table with net access at Silverlake Coffee with its fabulous air conditioning.

I have one tiny problem--I'm trying to think where to go to dinner Tues nite (someplace interesting in LA) and what foodies I can invite, it being a Tues nite, which is a really inconvenient night for dinner for anyone who has kids/job/etc.

Other tiny problem--importing data into Filemaker. I'm going to sit here until:
a. the sun goes down and I can return to my apt without feeling like I'm being oven-roasted
b. I attain victory over FileMaker OSX.

Orbit (Orbit), Sunday, 17 August 2003 21:46 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm fine. i was a little sick this morning though - a hangover. i puked in work for the first time ever, in the staff room sink. my stupid, annoying co-workers looked on in disgust.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Sunday, 17 August 2003 21:53 (twenty-two years ago)

as per usual, i feel up and down and all over the place. i'm trying to stay on top of my horrendous workload at school which isn't easy, but i'm doing a lot better at it this week than last. (ha, its only monday so perhaps i shouldn't talk too soon). the band is going good, we get better all the time and we'll probably record our second album before we tour this summer. i'm having a party in two weeks, the theme is electro and there will be live music. and chips n dip, cos its the rules. i don't know who i will go as yet. the international telepaths will be playing at the Take Back The Night march in september, our very first open-air gig, tis i shame i will require a stand-in drummer as duane will be in the UK, bless his lucky soul.

how is R? still enjoying your new place, donna?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 18 August 2003 00:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm fantastic.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 18 August 2003 00:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I've got jury duty tomorrow and need to be outside for a ride into the city at about 6:30am. Then I have to sit in some "atruim" for an hour and a half where they made a point on the computer phone message that "there are no chairs or benches in the atrium." Then I'll probably sit around for most of a day, and then after maybe getting $5 for parking (which only covers about half of what I would had to have paid if I did drive in) I'll have to spend about $6 on a bus home. But other then that and the sickness I feel in my stomach from eating Mcdonalds for lunch and Wendy's for dinner, I'm doing fine (after all it's summertime)

A Nairn (moretap), Monday, 18 August 2003 01:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm good, actually, thanks for asking. I insulted a Roy Chubby Brown fan tonight which was most unprofessional but v v v v v satisfying

Matt (Matt), Monday, 18 August 2003 02:00 (twenty-two years ago)

been sick. lyin in my rm smokin marijuana & pettin my kitty cat & listening to zz top & ac/dc a lot.

duane, Monday, 18 August 2003 03:42 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm fairly happy but nervous, leaving for college in nine days so it's all a mad rush. reading a lot about pirates and ships. seeing a lot of people before leaving.

Maria (Maria), Monday, 18 August 2003 03:46 (twenty-two years ago)

thanks di yes we are really loving the new place, so close to the national park and 3 amazingly beautiful beaches within a few minutes drive, im feeling pretty lucky :-)
hope your open-air gig goes well!

donna (donna), Monday, 18 August 2003 05:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey Donna! Your new place sounds lovely! I am good thanks. Everything seems to be sorting itself out in my life, which is cool (prolly just jinxed it now tho!) am waiting for exam results on wednesday tho! :-(

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 18 August 2003 07:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I am angry and disgusted at the moderators in this motherfucking board ;)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 18 August 2003 08:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Julio - whatsup dude?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 18 August 2003 08:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm alright, I spose. Had a good weekend seeing all my old friends in Derby and now I'm missing the place a bit. Which is par for the course really.

j0e (j0e), Monday, 18 August 2003 08:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I am very Mondaymorningish. I am worried about general writing stuff. I am unusually bothered about my state of penury, and feel cross and envious.

But I am looking forward to moving, and I had a nice weekend.

Archel (Archel), Monday, 18 August 2003 08:40 (twenty-two years ago)

pinkpanther- its just that they are not going to deal with my request.

i was only joking tho'. that was what that emoticon was for.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 18 August 2003 08:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm in a stinking mood. Trying to fill vacancies we've had from mid-december and mid-march, which we've had to fight to have advertised externally, we only got 4 applicants, and one turned us down - she'd already accepted another offer, another is waiting till she hears back from another place, and the other possibility is trying her luck negotiating salary, and I don't know how much is an act or whether she is likely to take less - actually, just got a phonecall and thank the lord she's just accepted what we offered.

But still! For the other vacancy we have we only got 1 overseas applicant, and it's good money and a permanent job! Anyone who's thinking about careers, go and start doing a masters in archives and records management, there aren't enough candidates to go round for all the jobs!

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 18 August 2003 08:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Julio, i figured it wasn't a hige thing (hence the emoticon) but i thought i'd check! Gotta look after all the kids in here you know! ;-)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 18 August 2003 09:01 (twenty-two years ago)

had an absolutely lovely weekend lording in Brighton but didn't sleep too well last night and am already feeling like the week is dragging. Still, in actual fact I have lots of good things going on right now to think about so can’t really complain, it just comes so naturally to me.

Alex K (Alex K), Monday, 18 August 2003 09:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Aww Vicky, sounds like a tough time! hang in there lady!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 18 August 2003 09:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Donna, It is nice to see you back on here from time to time. :)

I'm happy because I've decided to go back to school in Interior Design. Also, I'm going to concentrate harder on saving money so NA and I can buy a house. I started this morning by having pop-tarts for breakfast!

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Monday, 18 August 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

donna, your place sounds incredible, this talk of beaches makes me yearn for summer and outings in georgina (Das Auto).

maria, i was just thinking yesterday i haven't seen you post in a while. best of luck for your studies and settling in at college. what will you be studying?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 18 August 2003 22:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Terrified.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 18 August 2003 22:35 (twenty-two years ago)

PURE MDMA POWDER. WOW.

Lynskey (Lynskey), Monday, 18 August 2003 22:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm doing very, very, very, very, very well. 90% of me is, anyway. The remaining 10% is a perpetual worrywart and is always fretting about something. Oh yes, and I'll a bit droopy-eyed. But I wouldn't change that fact for the world, considering the amazing things that can happen in the early morning hours.

Just Deanna (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 18 August 2003 22:41 (twenty-two years ago)

hi donna! my flat doesn't like the 'before' from queer eye for the straight guy anymore, so that's nice. yay cleaning!

rosemary (rosemary), Monday, 18 August 2003 23:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I am doing hongry.

Leee (Leee), Monday, 18 August 2003 23:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm waiting for my son to turn up, impatiently.

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 06:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Sarah, good luck with both school and a house!

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 06:53 (twenty-two years ago)

i am very nervous today as I get my exam results tomorrow.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 08:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Bad. I mentioned just over a week ago that my eyesight underwent a sudden deterioration. Since then it was gradually recovering. Today it's been back to that worst level. I gave up on work and came home, and even with this display changed to 640x480 I can only read with some effort, and sometimes not at all. My GP sent off to the hospital for an urgent appointment with a specialist a week ago, but no date yet. It's worrying me and getting me very depressed.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh man, Martin. My best. :-( *plenty of good thoughts*

Thy Lethal Zen Ned (Ned), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

urrrghh, sorry to hear that Martin! Keep pressuring your doctor to get that appointment!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Hang in there, Martin!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Here's a silly bit from my everyday life.

This morning, a coworker introduced me to the new accountant like this:

"This is Sarah. She's a vegetarian, but she brings us donuts sometimes. So, even though she's a vegetarian, she still brings in good stuff."

Wow. There's me in a nutshell.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 17:23 (twenty-two years ago)

7 10-12 hour days in a row, ugh, i know how that feels, i just done 19 in a row, and im glad to have today to rest

TRY 60.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Pissed off with prospective employers that don't phone me back, broke, want to buy comics.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm nerve wracked and in a terrible mood.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Better than most, not as good as some.

Chris Barrus (Chris Barrus), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 18:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Hungry. I'm gonna go warm up some pop tarts and hit the road. I'm skipping work this morning to register for my classes in person. Screw this computer registration!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 11:29 (twenty-two years ago)

broke

eriiiiiik, Wednesday, 20 August 2003 11:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Dude, you don't even want to know...

Larcole (Nicole), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 11:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Jumpy, grumpy. Have just been given one of those pissy nebulous tasks that involves phoning lots of people (bad anyway for me) for info but exactly what the info I'm supposed to be getting is, nobody has explained.

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 11:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Nicole, you're not having a great August, are you :(

Mark C (Mark C), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 11:44 (twenty-two years ago)

It's not so bad, I'm just grouchy because I have a terrible cold.

Larcole (Nicole), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 11:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Martin - what jel said: Hang in there!
It's tough, I know.
My right eye has given me problems for a while, too. (Though not that bad, I think. And the first appointment with the doctor didn't exactly solve anything...))

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 11:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a tummy ache because there was lettuce in my tasty falafel sarnie. I went out looking for love lunch, knowing I had to be healthy, and by the time I got back I'd eaten two free wraps and a free ice-cream/whipped cream cupette.

Mark C (Mark C), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 11:53 (twenty-two years ago)

hope everything turns out ok martin.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 11:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Sarah - that could be me, a vegetarian accountant!

I am happy today because I found out I passed my exam. I have hurt my back tho, so I am in a bit of pain!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 11:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Er, I'm awake. That's always good.

Thy Lethal Zen Ned (Ned), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 12:21 (twenty-two years ago)

*slurp!*
*slurrphh!*

'm havin' my soup, in front of the 'puter!

*SLURRRRP!*

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 12:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Okay though slightly irritated. Our (new) counselors keep trying to do stuff like stick obviously english-only students in my ESL classes and schedule kids for my planning period. So just now when they sent a passel of my ESL students around to withdraw from my class and head into a regular English section I became kind of upset. I really don't think they know what they're doing and plan to spend my next (off) period stomping around the school making sure they aren't dicking over any of my students.

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

If I had known, when I was at school, that teachers could lead the kind of lives Sam leads I think I'd have exploded.

Mark C (Mark C), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 14:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Sam, what grade do you teach?

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 15:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm doing okay. My back hurts a bit from shelving books...ahhh the pain of honest toil.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 15:36 (twenty-two years ago)

my hangover isn't one twelfth as bad as i thought it'd be. i want pizza.

BLACKOUT '03! (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 16:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Slow-moving and dinosaur like. I want biscuits and gravy

Chris Barrus (Chris Barrus), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 19:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I teach 7th and 8th graders, Mary. Although ages are across the board. This year I have three 7th graders who drive.

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Just curious, how did you decide on junior high? I'm thinking of teaching high school English. My mom's experiences with teaching junior high sort of warned me against it.

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 19:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Mary you'd be a great HS teacher!! OMG

Millar (Millar), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 21:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd rather teach HS but there are less openings there. My certification is 8-12. Hopefully my next job will be HS.

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 21:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks Sam (and Millar).

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 21:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Hi Folks :)
I'm in excellent spirits !

Gale, Thursday, 21 August 2003 01:46 (twenty-two years ago)

better. run out of pot tho.

duane, Thursday, 21 August 2003 01:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm ok. I own a robot vacuum now, so I spent the evening sitting on the bed watching it motor around & vacuum (it even fits under the bed so it vacuumed up masses of doggie hair & dust). It feels very Jetsons-ish. Another friend who just got one is planning how to have Roomba robot wars between our vacuums, but I just don't see how a flame thrower is going to mount onto it, also I'd be sad to have to vacuum myself again.

And doggie's shoulder is sore again, it's breaking my heart watching him limping around with his goofy doggie smile. I gave him his puppy advil, but I don't think it's that effective. :-(

lyra (lyra), Thursday, 21 August 2003 02:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Seriously re-evaluating a bunch of things, including why I'm here. "Here" as in online community-wise, not "real-life life or death" wise. Slightly buzzed from drinking a glass of wine. (Yes, feel free to laugh at me.) Maybe those two are interconnected. Full of regret at admitting things that absolutely should not have been admitted. Trying to find happiness in listening to some of the poppier Human League songs. In other words, a hodgepodge of emotions, as usual.

How are you?

Jane Datsun (Dee the Lurker), Thursday, 21 August 2003 03:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Pissed off. Really, really blindingly pissed off.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 21 August 2003 12:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Woah, Ally, what's up darl? I'll cheer you up if you like, though this will probably only work if you call my bluff and watch me cringing and floundering in embarrassment.

Mark C (Mark C), Thursday, 21 August 2003 12:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha A) I'm at work which is like horror to begin with. B) there's a thread on the new answers list that pretty much explains it. C) I dunnae think I should keep up posting here. Is that your real email address?

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 21 August 2003 12:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Yup.

Mark C (Mark C), Thursday, 21 August 2003 13:36 (twenty-two years ago)

here's a thread on the new answers list that pretty much explains it.

Ally's secretly a member of the Baader Meinhoff?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 21 August 2003 13:44 (twenty-two years ago)

No, the Dave Matthews Band :(

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 21 August 2003 13:45 (twenty-two years ago)

As for me, I'm less terrified now and more in a dumbfounded state of perpetual shellshock....but the live version of "Papa Won't Leave You Henry" by Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds off of Live Seeds is helping me learn to grin maniacally again.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 21 August 2003 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Um, I'm feeling much better and have lost that regret, thanks ever so.

*hops off computer to do stuff*

Jane Datsun (Dee the Lurker), Thursday, 21 August 2003 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Feeling alright, a little headache, kinda wobbly, hoping everyone's badnesses fall away and leave them afloat smiling in mellow positive vibrations.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 21 August 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Alex check yr email!!

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 21 August 2003 14:07 (twenty-two years ago)

my knee hurts from whacking it against an airline seat yesterday.

boston is filled with cute girlies. one of them served me a Mike Tyson burger. her red hair seemed so disappointed to be kept back in a bun like that. it wanted to fly free--FREE, i tells ya!

Kingfish (Kingfish), Thursday, 21 August 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Not too bad - the eyes are still bad and I'm still a bit worried and scared, but I had the loveliest email from someone I adore, and that has helped a lot.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 22 August 2003 16:38 (twenty-two years ago)
