I'll be driving in on Thursday. I haven't been able to look in here very much recently -- busy packing and proving I don't have meningitis and that sort of thing -- but experience tells me there'll be some sort of New Yorky events going on during the next few weeks, right? If not, then hey, how about some drinking action sometime?

nabisco (nabisco), Sunday, 17 August 2003 20:34 (twenty-two years ago)

seems like there's a bunch of good shows coming up, including Magas at Rare on the 29th. I went into Weekend last week when I was in Chicago, and it was great to see Jim after almost a year.

A couple of noteworthy shows here next month:

September is John Zorn month at Tonic to celebrate his 50th birthday--different bands, pieces, improv assemblages every night. Sep. 3 is "Cobra," his best game piece, & if you've never seen it, you owe it to yourself.

Sep. 9-10: The Ex at the Knitting Factory.

Douglas (Douglas), Sunday, 17 August 2003 21:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I ran into Magas at Kinkos yesterday and made arrangements for that show. I guess I'll be seeing you there, Stencil!

nabisco (nabisco), Sunday, 17 August 2003 21:07 (twenty-two years ago)

cool, I'll more than likely make it as Jim promised to put me on the list, although I may have to duck out early to see my ladyfriend's band over at Luxx too...

hstencil, Sunday, 17 August 2003 21:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Magas was really fun when i saw him play with ADULT. and Broadcast a few months ago. Seems like a swell guy.

FAPPage must be organized. Note passive construction of sentence.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 18 August 2003 12:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be in town the 25th-31st.... Lemme know if anything gets planned, or I might wind up at the Magas show.

Oh and congrats Nabisco!

Aaron W (Aaron W), Monday, 18 August 2003 13:13 (twenty-two years ago)

nabisco, you should come see Q the Winged Serpent with me on the 25th.

rosemary (rosemary), Monday, 18 August 2003 14:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Aaron, you're gonna be in town???

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 18 August 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Remember we had a double date planned to ride the bull outside Wall Street??

Aaron W (Aaron W), Monday, 18 August 2003 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh right!!! I should email you my #--can you hang out the evening of the 31st or are you leaving that night?

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 18 August 2003 16:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm actually heading back to Detroit on the morning of the 31st.... Maybe I should start some sort of FAP-type thread? Yes, I think I will.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Monday, 18 August 2003 16:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha I just realized that I was looking at the wrong month on the calendar when I panicked and asked if you'd be around on the 31st. I thought it was still July!

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 18 August 2003 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

yo: i'm here and have no real net access, but maura and felicity both have my cell number ...

nycabisco, Saturday, 23 August 2003 20:08 (twenty-two years ago)

welcome to new york!

rosemary (rosemary), Saturday, 23 August 2003 20:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Welcome! you came on a fine day too.

Carey (Carey), Saturday, 23 August 2003 22:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I came on a hot-as-hell day, is what I came on. And an awfully weird one, at that.

nycabisco, Sunday, 24 August 2003 17:16 (twenty-two years ago)

yesterday wasn't hot!

hstencil, Sunday, 24 August 2003 18:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Thursday and Friday sure were though. And I think nabisco arrived on one of those days?

Today is nice and lovely.

rosemary (rosemary), Sunday, 24 August 2003 19:18 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah Saturday and Sunday sure beat Thursday and Friday. Those days were brutal. Yesterday I was in a park by the East River, getting stoned and listening to bad music. Fun times!

hstencil, Sunday, 24 August 2003 19:22 (twenty-two years ago)

oh its so cold in my room, and i don't have any blankets.

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 25 August 2003 06:39 (twenty-two years ago)

is that a come on?

amateurist (amateurist), Monday, 25 August 2003 06:57 (twenty-two years ago)

nine years pass...

Shopping for rooms to move into has got me feeling like Professor Zoidberg on Futurama when he realizes his $300 bill doesn't actually make him a rich guy. Is there anything better than Craiglist and Listings Project? Looking for rooms in the under-a-thousand range. Blarrrrgh. I know the right place will manifest itself but it's frustrating in the meantime....

Doctor Casino, Wednesday, 1 May 2013 13:56 (twelve years ago)

three weeks pass...

arrrrrrrrrrgh

Doctor Casino, Thursday, 23 May 2013 06:10 (twelve years ago)

one year passes...

I have a shot at a job in New York (Manhattan) and basically I'd like to know what kind of property I could rent on the salary I would be getting. It's a little hard to tell because of allowances and deductions and whatnot but I think my take-home pay would be something in the region of $9000 per month. I'd like to rent a house with a garden b/c I have kids. Obviously I know Manhattan is out but do such properties exist in Brooklyn or the other boroughs and if so how much do they cost? Or am I realistically looking at commuting in from somewhere suburban? If so which are the best suburbs to look at. Thanks.
