Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 18 August 2003 20:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Isn't Britney Spears playing Daisy Duke? Lucky. Fucking. Bitch.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 18 August 2003 20:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Bo = David Soul
Luke = Paul Michael Glaser

oh, wait, that can't be right ...

brian nemtusak (sanlazaro), Monday, 18 August 2003 20:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Bo: Ray Winstone
Luke: Rhys Ifans

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 18 August 2003 20:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Bo: Depp.
Luke: Bloom.
General Lee: Black Pearl.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 18 August 2003 20:45 (twenty-two years ago)

please tell me they aren't doing this. Why does every tv show have to be movie-fied?

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Monday, 18 August 2003 20:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Isn't Britney Spears playing Daisy Duke? Lucky. Fucking. Bitch.

Typical choice, but she's already got the clothes and tissue bra....

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 18 August 2003 21:10 (twenty-two years ago)

You can rest easy, Sam. I think Maude is safe from the prying hands of Hollywood.

oops (Oops), Monday, 18 August 2003 21:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Let's make fun of NSync next! That'll be difficult!

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 18 August 2003 21:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Dear God, I think Oops has made me burst a lung.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 18 August 2003 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Bo: Ned Raggett
Luke: Dan Perry
Boss Hog: Me
the General: a Segway

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Monday, 18 August 2003 21:16 (twenty-two years ago)

they'd have to put doors with no windows on the Segway just so they could jump through them

oops (Oops), Monday, 18 August 2003 21:18 (twenty-two years ago)

You can rest easy, Sam. I think Maude is safe from the prying hands of Hollywood.

Now there's an idea ...

TV shows unlikely to receive a big-screen update

brian nemtusak (sanlazaro), Monday, 18 August 2003 21:18 (twenty-two years ago)

But oops, that would make the Segway pointless!

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 18 August 2003 21:18 (twenty-two years ago)

But oops, that would make the Segway pointless

"Make"???

brian nemtusak (sanlazaro), Monday, 18 August 2003 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

John, I've just got a stitch in my side from laughing so hard.

ILX Hillbillies, coming to a multiplex near you.....

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 18 August 2003 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

no way dude, watching Ned and Dan bail off the Segway pantomiming like they were going through windows = classic before it even happens

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Monday, 18 August 2003 21:21 (twenty-two years ago)

(xpost, obv. "no way" for Brian, with love)

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Monday, 18 August 2003 21:21 (twenty-two years ago)

See ILX Bike Stunts thread for evidence of the hilarity of anything involving Ned and Dan bailing off a moving vehicle.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 18 August 2003 21:21 (twenty-two years ago)

(xpost, obv. "no way" for Brian, with love)

[tips headfirst into pavement, mutters something about "on" switch)

brian nemtusak (sanlazaro), Monday, 18 August 2003 21:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Brian Cox or Michael Gambon as Boss Hog obviously.

PS: which of the above two do you think would win in a fight?

s1utsky (slutsky), Monday, 18 August 2003 21:33 (twenty-two years ago)

"Well, it seems them Duke boys are always gettin' into trouble! Why, just this week, it seems that Kevin Shields stopped by to see if they'd finished workin' on the engine of his Plymouth, and before you could say ';),' him an' Luke dang near came to blows over the subject of Benjamin Britten's A Ceremony of Carols. Naturally, this made Bo more'n a little jittery, and, well..."

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Monday, 18 August 2003 21:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Huzzah! *hurtles into blacktop*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 18 August 2003 21:49 (twenty-two years ago)

just some good ol' boys
say, that Segway's nifty
beats all you ever saw, been in trouble with the law
since Brett Anderson turned fifty

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Monday, 18 August 2003 21:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Dadblast it, Tarquin, we've got to get these sequins across the county line!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 18 August 2003 21:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Zambonis/Philistines Jr to thread!

Kingfish (Kingfish), Monday, 18 August 2003 21:57 (twenty-two years ago)

They tried to give Enos his own series, remember?

PS Who's Sheriff Roscoe Pekoe Trane [sic] then?

brian nemtusak (sanlazaro), Monday, 18 August 2003 22:08 (twenty-two years ago)

elias koteas obviously

s1utsky (slutsky), Monday, 18 August 2003 22:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Pizza Christ.

Millar (Millar), Monday, 18 August 2003 22:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Ding ding ding! Winnah!

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 18 August 2003 22:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Roscoe. P. COLTRANE.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 18 August 2003 22:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I mean we've already GOT a Luke

Millar (Millar), Monday, 18 August 2003 22:38 (twenty-two years ago)

They should do a black version of the Dukes of Hazzard with like Chris Rock and Cedric or something.

teeny (teeny), Monday, 18 August 2003 22:44 (twenty-two years ago)

OK that was kind of a joke but now that I think about it, that would be kind of brilliant given the whole white dixiecentrism of the original, eh?

teeny (teeny), Monday, 18 August 2003 22:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Michael Gambon would own any fight he was involved in.

Matt (Matt), Monday, 18 August 2003 22:47 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, me. I was always Luke when we played it in kindergarten because I have fucking brown curly hair. Somebody else got to be Bo all the damn time. I wanted to say "yeeee haaaaaaw!!" because everybody knew Bo said that. They always consoled me by telling me that Luke was the one who drove but who cares about that, I wanted to say "yeeeeee heeeeeawwwww!!!!" Jesus I can bear a grudge, huh? Anyway Boss Hogg totally has to be Jon Don Baker. Or Meatloaf. Britney Spears doesn't really work for Daisy. Daisy was always pretty obviously a Woman, with a cool head and unspoken reserves of sexual experience. I think a porn star would be perfect. Not a PLayboy model, but a real honest-to-god porn star, like Chasey Lain.

I never saw Enos in the City, that's what it was called, right? It sounds like it would be awesome actually. Or maybe not. I mean the Beverly Hillbillies had already been done and that was pretty fucking bad.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 18 August 2003 22:56 (twenty-two years ago)

"Yeah me" was answering Millar. Wait a minute Millar WE should be the duke boys! You're blond so I won't complain if you want to say "yeeeee haaaaaw!"

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 18 August 2003 22:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I actually saw more episodes of Enos than Dukes at the time. Remember the whole thumbs up/gimme five combination?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 18 August 2003 22:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't believe it actually took the entire fucking day for someone to suggest Tracer and Millar as the Duke boys. You people sicken me.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 18 August 2003 23:02 (twenty-two years ago)

haha I say 'yeeee hawww' anyway

Millar (Millar), Monday, 18 August 2003 23:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Daddino is Boss Hog. Come on. You know it's true.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 18 August 2003 23:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 18 August 2003 23:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Luna is Daisy, obv.

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 01:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd say that's where you are wrong, except there's no way in hell you can make me wear shorts outside my house.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 01:29 (twenty-two years ago)

boss daddino

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 01:34 (twenty-two years ago)

The Duke's of Ally's House

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 02:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Remember the whole thumbs up/gimme five combination?

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!! Make it stop! Make it stop!!

Roscoe. P. COLTRANE

Gi-gi-gi ... don't let 'em rattle ya, Flash ...

brian nemtusak (sanlazaro), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 02:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Jack Black

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 02:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Jack Black = Cooter?

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 02:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Ding ding ding ding ding!!!

brian nemtusak (sanlazaro), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 02:54 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.posterplanet.net/pictures/images/Dh1c1.jpg

Bo looks like the Highway to Heaven dude in this shot.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 15:01 (twenty-two years ago)

That one dude: the ghost of Michael Landon
That other dude: my friend Charlie from college who posts on ILM sometimes
Daisy Duke: David Duke's mom (just to piss him off)
Boss Hogg: a punching dummy filled up with Crisco.

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 15:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Whoa, I never realized Daisy's thighs were so meaty. Maybe I could fit into those shorts yet.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 15:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Teeny is TOTALLY OTM about the black cast btw

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 15:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Also I just saw what it is that Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson actually are dragging back from the grave: Starsky & Hutch. Jaysus.

With Snoop Dogg as Huggy Bear!

j.lu (j.lu), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 15:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I think that it should be Luke and Owen Wilson- that'd be neato.
( you know, if they can't afford Dan and ned)

Nellie (nellskies), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 11:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I had this conversation last weekend. We decided it should be Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott (or whatever his name is -- the Stifler dude). Britney as Daisy is CHOICE!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 13:27 (twenty-two years ago)

you know, if they can't afford Dan and ned

Well, we're an easy enough hire, it all depends on the fringe benefits.

"As per your contract, the complete Prince studio tapes."
"Mine."
"No, MINE."

Thy Lethal Zen Ned (Ned), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

yanc3y you don't get daisy at all

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

That's the greatest thing anyone's ever said.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 16:53 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
Okay, I don't know if this means much to anyone but me, but apparently the screenplay or whatever for this was written by the BROKEN LIZARD DUDES.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 7 July 2005 17:49 (twenty years ago)

FWIW, I think this is a VERY GOOD THING.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 7 July 2005 17:49 (twenty years ago)

I notice they kept the Confederate Battle Flag on the roof.

Not sure which would be worse: the protest over including the flag or the protest that they would have gotten had they not included it.

The Mad Puffin (The Mad Puffin), Thursday, 7 July 2005 17:54 (twenty years ago)

Directed by a Broken Lizard guy, as well.

larry bundgee (bundgee), Thursday, 7 July 2005 17:57 (twenty years ago)

i thought this was shitcanned?

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 7 July 2005 17:57 (twenty years ago)

Jay Chandresekhar (Broken Lizard director dude) also directs Arrested Development. This knowledge is giving me unfairly high hopes for this production!

Dude, Mark, there are TRAILERS on TV.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 7 July 2005 17:58 (twenty years ago)

http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/thedukesofhazzard.html

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:00 (twenty years ago)

I hope it does well so we can get another Broken Lizard movie.

larry bundgee (bundgee), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:00 (twenty years ago)

as of last week it was not coming out! i didn't realized things changed.

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117925363?cs=1&s=h&p=0

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:01 (twenty years ago)

Woah holy shit.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:06 (twenty years ago)

i saw trailers for it not two weeks ago. it looked horrible.

kyle (akmonday), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:30 (twenty years ago)

wha tthe hell, the Dukes of Hazzard was based on a movie and no-one who did the remake bothered to notice this???

kyle (akmonday), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:31 (twenty years ago)

it was an honest mistake that only cost them 17.5 million dollars.

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:33 (twenty years ago)

That is fucked up.
Some kinda karma for the Sufjan Stevens bizz for WB.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:34 (twenty years ago)

well what's weird is that Moonrunners appears to be quite obviously the movie that series was based on since the show was written and directed by the same guy who wrote and directed Moonrunners. So I guess they probably knew about it but didn't figure the producer of Moonrunners would have any further claim.

kyle (akmonday), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:40 (twenty years ago)

That guy just won the fucking lottery. Outstanding. Copyright law is so fucked.

giboyeux (skowly), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:41 (twenty years ago)

Maybe they were under the impression that his rights were bought from him previously, in full, and they did not owe him royalties? I mean I have no other explanation for it.

Whatever happened it still makes more sense than casting Jessica Simpson.

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:43 (twenty years ago)

that makes perfect sense!

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:44 (twenty years ago)

Dude the trailer looks fucking amazing except for any split second where you have to look at her awful fucking face.

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:45 (twenty years ago)

The movie would be fantastic if she got her face eaten off by a coonhound.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:46 (twenty years ago)

RACIST

matlewis, Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:47 (twenty years ago)

ally i did not look at her face once.

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:49 (twenty years ago)

This is what I love: he knew this was coming the whole time. You just know he's been biding his time until the release was imminent and then decided to go after the studio because they'd HAVE to pay him the money instead of letting the film languish in a warehouse under the protection of federal marshals(!). If he'd pulled this when the movie was in pre-production, they'd have just pulled the plug and he'd have made no money.

Fucking great. It's like Soros making a billion off the English gov't.

giboyeux (skowly), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:50 (twenty years ago)

you're best to avoid looking at her face. it's ghastly.

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:53 (twenty years ago)

giboyeux otm. you really do have to admire the guy.

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:54 (twenty years ago)

you're best to avoid looking at her face. it's ghastly.

Johnny Knoxville knows this.

Leon C. (Ex Leon), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:54 (twenty years ago)

somethin' bounced up in mah under-curridge! ugh ugh ugh

Knoxville looks perfect for the role, but I hate that other dork.

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:55 (twenty years ago)

that one j-simpson pic on defamer where she still had coke in her nose was pretty rad

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:56 (twenty years ago)

where can I read about Knoxville and co-star double-teaming Simpson? I see references on ILX, but that's it?

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:56 (twenty years ago)

There was some quote by him in this magazine that was like "hey, it's an excuse to blow stuff up and stare at Jessica Simpson's legs".

Johnny Knoxville OTM.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:57 (twenty years ago)

sorry, it was gawker. i always confuse the two.

http://www.gawker.com/news/jsimpsnose.jpg

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:58 (twenty years ago)

damn, that's frightening.

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:59 (twenty years ago)

ACK CHRIST

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:59 (twenty years ago)

if that camera lens was three inches lower -> nasal drip

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 7 July 2005 19:00 (twenty years ago)

She's like the celebrity Brian Peppers.

Leon C. (Ex Leon), Thursday, 7 July 2005 19:01 (twenty years ago)

How long do you have to sit in a tanning booth to become burnt sienna?

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Thursday, 7 July 2005 19:01 (twenty years ago)

That photo gives me the impression that that's some good shit.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 7 July 2005 19:02 (twenty years ago)

That pic is awesome! I love that she does coke. LOVE IT.

giboyeux (skowly), Thursday, 7 July 2005 19:03 (twenty years ago)

You must love a lot of people in Hollywood then, dude!

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Thursday, 7 July 2005 19:04 (twenty years ago)

four weeks pass...
So has anyone seen this yet? It's not getting good reviews, but...
