jess, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

only fules dont put their questions in new answers.

jess, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

No, just behind the times. ;-)

Ned Raggett, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

if *YOU* knew what it was, you'd say it was worth every penny, raggett my boy. ;)

(even though you'd probably mock me for not owning the originals.)

jess, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

talk about the girl some more, the one who may or may not be hippy.

rainy, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

hmmm...i think i shall. but should i start a new thread or just do it here?

jess, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

here! do it here!

Tracer Hand, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

here.

rainy, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

okay well the hippie girl (it's confirmed. self-confirmed in fact.) is falling for me. and i feel kinda bad. because my heart and head are somewhere else. and even though i could see myself wanting to be with her. if headheart wasnt occupied. (with the girl who lives on the opposite coast. who ned apparently wants to wife swap with me. who is totally CLASSIC and who likes cartoons and Fela and old skool hiphop and THE FRIGGIN FALL and who i swoon like a cocteau twins song for, every time i think of her.) because i do like this girl. and i like spending time with her. oh, conundrum of the almost grown man!

jess, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

OK, here's what Dr Tom says. Does other-coast girl like you? Enough to move? Do you like her enough to move? If yes then you still need to think a million more times, but broadly speaking falling for someone who lives far away from you is the mother of all duds.

Which isn't to say you should go out with hippychick. Things that start half-heartedly tend to continue half-heartedly (though not always!)

Tom, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

yes, thats good advice.

rainy, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

well, dr. tom, lemme tell ya. i think its safe to say were both in lurve. or as close as you can get at this point. but...of course, you are correct, much thinking still to do. jess is at a point where he has roots but no real ties, if that makes sense. jess has also made numerous mistakes in the last 5-6 year period of similar stripes. therefore jess is...wary to say the least. but jess also lost someone (and i mean that in its most literal, mind-numbing sense) that he could have spent a little more time with (even if she had still been taken from him in the same way) if he HAD gone with his gut and followed her. so he's also wary that way.

jess, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

what wise old Tom said.

Tracer Hand, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

also olympia girl (to differentiate her from hippie girl) is the first human being jess has met since the loss of the other girl to make him feel like life was somewhat again filled with color and shape and joy rather than just a numb, gray feeling which had persisted since her funeral. so he's...a yi yi. he dont know what.

jess, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hey, Jess... I live near Olympia... (in Seattle, hour north). Olympia is the kind of town where you always run into someone you've met there before... even if you only visit Olympia a few times a year. Does she hang out at the Voyeur? Is she in a band? What gives?

Need to hire me to do some detective work?

np: Ungle Wiggly. They absolutely rule.

Brian MacDonald, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

she has just begun attending evergreen state. (yes, jess is robbing the cradle.) i believe her parents (mother?) live in bellingham, if i'm not mistaken. otherwise i think it's the first time she's been in olympia.

jess, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Well, if it's any slight comfort, I don't know of too many Olympians that stay Olympians. They either a) eventually move to Portland or Seattle, or b) move further away -- maybe to an opposite coast.

Brian MacDonald, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i have spent the evening intermittenly perusing priceline for airline tickets. a small part of me thinks this is going too far, in and of itself.

jess, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

make your life as much like a movie as you can, I say.

rainy, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Dude, use Audio Galaxy. I just got a ton of the Blind Boys of Alabama

Pennysong Hanle y, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

mike makes everything better. ;)

jess, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

what about me, did I help?

rainy, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

This is what happens when I go to get dinner -- romantic angst breaks out and then is suddenly solved. What the hell?

Ned Raggett, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm sorry, but was the nature of said bootleg revealed? Love is grand and all, but music is forevah!

David Raposa, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

rainy: of course you did. you asked me to talk about it all, silly. :)

daver: flip ahead one thread. you didn't hear that from me though.

jess, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Jess is thinking he's all cool and stuff for an MBV bootleg when he could have GONE TO THE MBV FANSITE AND DOWNLOADED THEM ALL FOR FREE OR SOMETHING. ;-)

Ned Raggett, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

gah! bite me! ;)

no cd burner here, chumpstyle!

jess, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

and wait a damn minnit...wasnt the whole pretext of this thread to *agree* with me that i WAS a fule for spending 22 bucks on one cd? yer fallin off. ;)

jess, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

yay i helped!

rainy, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'll deal with your hash later, you hippychick lover. HA!

Ned Raggett, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Okay, being kinder -- dealt with long-distance relationships, dealt with close ones. My own THORT -- you can't predict. So who can say? Ultimately, though, follow yer heart...

Ned Raggett, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

ned in cheap shot shocker!

jess, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

gah. and then ya gotta go and be all sensetive. ;)

jess, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I know what I'm doing. You can still send Miss Olympia along, though. But Brian is closer to her anyway. ;-)

Ned Raggett, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

ned, do you own a crushed velvet smoking jacket by any chance? ;)

jess, Monday, 24 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

God no. Too gauche. ;-)

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sigh. Jess, if you're actually going to fly out, let me assure you that if things don't go well at all, you can hang out with me. (As long as it's nothing more than hanging out! wudge wudge nink nink)

Brian MacDonald, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Jess, I thought you were lesbian.

Nick, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hoped you mean

Ronan, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Lots more great MBV mp3s available at this site:

scott, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

ned: so it's just ass-less chaps then?

brian: thenk you.

nick: i AM a lesbian. what are you talking about?

jess, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i can't believe no ones commented on ass-less chaps or my faux lesbianism yet.

jess, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm speechless and confused. I figure I'll sound smarter if I don't say anything, though.

Of course, I can't help but open my big yap.

David Raposa, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

david. it's so simple.

ned wants to be known as "diamond ned." and i'm trying to be the first lesbian with a weenie.

there, all better.

jess, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You know nothing of my nomenclature desires, young feller-me-Jess.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Several years ago, I wanted to buy a "No one knows I'm a lesbian" T- shirt, but Joei was adamantly against the idea.
