If you have any idea.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 12:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha I was going to start this thread. But in fact no, I have no idea. I have a nice smile, maybe.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 12:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, being Dan Perry, the rest follows.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 12:22 (twenty-two years ago)

It's a mystery to me.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 12:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Because I'm fucking great.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 12:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Although Emma always said she fancied me at first because I was a geek.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 12:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I would say but it sounds too tacky.

Larcole (Nicole), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 12:24 (twenty-two years ago)

It must be great to fancy geeks! You've got them almost all to yourself.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 12:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Cheers, N.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 12:26 (twenty-two years ago)

i just don't know, but whatever it was seems to have gone.

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 12:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I have no idea! Best ask James this one!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 12:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Big boobs I suspect!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 12:29 (twenty-two years ago)

It must be great to fancy geeks! You've got them almost all to yourself.

Oh, I know several people who fancy geeks.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 12:29 (twenty-two years ago)

''i just don't know, but whatever it was seems to have gone.''

at least you had something going for you at one time.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 12:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I did too, but AWWWW it slowly started falling out

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 12:31 (twenty-two years ago)

i think it must have been my hair, or perhaps it was the fact that i wasn't once a bitter crank

(xp)

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 12:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Well that's WHY I'm a bitter crank, you?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 12:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Since I'm not blessed with good looks nor an particularly charismatic personality, it must be something else.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 12:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Perhaps it's the gay sort of connection I have with women; I understand them better than men, which is why most of my friends are female too.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 12:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I think perhaps a less awkward question would be to ask why we fancy OTHER people and then we could figure out why people could fancy each other, but this has possibly/probably been done before.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 13:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Because I'm a bitter crank. But also well meaning. I have it all sewn up in a lot of girls' "he's just like my dad" department.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 13:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Creepy!

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 13:24 (twenty-two years ago)

oh that too

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)

this is one of many threads i should not honestly answer, in fear of what would follow.

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 13:42 (twenty-two years ago)

People throwing themselves at you?

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

N. throwing himself at you?

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

pity.

but now I'm all decrepit.
man I miss those days

my body is a blunderland.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 14:01 (twenty-two years ago)

It was interesting to note women were no less "shallow" than men, anyway

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

People fancy me?

Jane Datsun (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 14:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I think some people are drawn to me just because they see I do band stuff and so do they or they wish they did or something.

But mostly I think people like it that I laugh a lot.

apparently. the fools, it's a pool of inky blackness behind those baby blues.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 14:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I've got nice lips, apparently.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 14:29 (twenty-two years ago)

my body is a blunderland.

My lap is a ruin.

Serious answers deleted, as they would be maudlin where they were not dangerous.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

praying mantis (praying mantis), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 14:42 (twenty-two years ago)

because I can blow smoke through my nose but don't.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

My cartoonishly large boobs. Except people don't seem to fancy those any more.

j.lu (j.lu), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 15:51 (twenty-two years ago)

No idea really, I guess I'm mostly shocked if anyone does.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:00 (twenty-two years ago)

gotta be my tits too.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I've never entirely known. I mean, I'm not entirely devoid of qualities that are positives in this area, but they seem so outweighed by the negatives. For instance, on physique, I'm pretty muscly, bur years of very heavy use of steroid-based drugs for my asthma* have given me a pretty big belly - and although it's not there for the usual reasons, and isn't made of fat, this is surely just as big a minus as if it were down to overeating or overdrinking.

This is one of two explanations I've had from the medical profession - the other was that the constant pushing down of the diaphragm in my continuing struggle to breathe has pushed the stomach out. Whatever.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

People want to know what's the secret to Chest Rockwell's ability to pick up all these beautiful women... Is it your good looks? Is it that big bulge in your pants? Could be that fancy car you drive? (That i lease and change every other year, but you don't need to know that.) I say look; I'm gonna let you in on a little secret. My man Nathaniel Merriweather, you know, a little running buddy from Handsome Boy Modelling School, he made this thing called "Music to Make Love to Your Old Lady By". Barry white used to work. Shoot, even Abba used to work, the way I was doin' my thing...but man, you put this on and the hos just go wild. I'm telling you: "Music to Make Love to Your Old Lady By". You know, you tried cognac...even tried givin' her some weed...shoot, you might've even tried ecstasy. But ain't no sheer ecstasy until you try "Music to Make Love to Your Old Lady By".

Chest Rockwell (nickalicious), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

these days, i've got the sex appeal of a rock.

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:45 (twenty-two years ago)

gaw-lee! < /stereotypical northern idiocy>

M Matos (M Matos), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 03:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, no. It's probably an annoying English teacher thing.

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 03:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I just caught my own huge typo up there.

I'm a crap English teacher. Who am I kidding?

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 04:27 (twenty-two years ago)

dunno. i know im not fugly, im not an idiot ( most of the time ), but i sense that any 'fanciers' out there happen because im small and they think 'ahhh, cute little woman etc'. then they get to know me more and they get over it pretty quickly.

donna (donna), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 05:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmm. I was gonna say "I have no idea whatsoever" but I think people fancy me for my arse. At least I keep getting told this a lot.

I dont see it myself... oh wait, how could I, hah.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 05:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Cause I'm not an asshole. No, really. I'm not. Why are you laughing?

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 07:18 (twenty-two years ago)

(these are also brackets) [these are square brackets]

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 08:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I've been told that the massive record collection really drives the ladies wild.

Douglas (Douglas), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 11:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, and a massive collection of comics or trading cards does the trick as well. Also, don't forget to talk compulsively about your collection. Ladies, they love it!

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

The reoccuring things I've heard from folks who fancy me: my smile, my sense of humor, and my "energy". And yes apparently I've dated some hippies.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 14:27 (twenty-two years ago)

NICHOLAS LICIOUS! Have you been cavorting with those filthy, drug-addled reprobates again? Why, I'll take away the keys to your condo in the Hamptons if I find it's so!

Baroness Licious of the Boston Liciouses (Mark C), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 14:40 (twenty-two years ago)

No one has ever fancied me.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm fast + danger.

And I make a mean dish of vinegar chicken.

Tep (ktepi), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)

i've been told i have nice lips and beautiful eyes. but we all know its the bag.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 17:05 (twenty-two years ago)

According to the few actually brave enough to hit on me by now, it was my:

1) smile,
2) wit,
3) intelligence,
4) freakish sense of humour

Course, it could simply be my random assortment of body parts, beneath it all....*

*once I actually took them seriously

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 17:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Is fancying "that which leads to hitting on" or "liking once they get to know you" or both? I guess fast + danger applies either way. People don't randomly sample my vinegar chicken as they pass me on the street or anything, so I wouldn't want to give that impression. The guy who's like chasing you down going "EAT MY CHICKEN, IT'S TERRIFIC!" -- that guy isn't me.

Tep (ktepi), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

that just sounds like a bad euphemism. as often happens on this board.

JuliaA (j_bdules), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 18:32 (twenty-two years ago)

EAT MY CHICKEN, IT'S TERRIFIC! EATTTT ITTT!

Yep, it sure does.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 18:47 (twenty-two years ago)

because i hate ska.

Tad (llamasfur), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 18:48 (twenty-two years ago)

EAT MY CHICKEN, IT'S TERRIFIC! EATTTT ITTT!

Well sure, it sounds different when you repeat the "EAT IT"!

Besides, I'm not that guy, I'm the other one.

Tep (ktepi), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 18:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I have no idea. It's not as if anyone has ever told me WHY they fancied me.

My record and comic collections scare boys, and I like it that way.

rosemary (rosemary), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 20:36 (twenty-two years ago)

i got a woman, crazy bout me. she's funny that way.

Al Jolson (amateurist), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 20:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I really don't have much of a clue, but I suspect it's something to do with eyes + cheekbones + impression of being utterly unthreatening to the opposite sex.

The last one is a curse as well, I'm sure.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 20:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Good god Rosemary, if that is scaring boys away you aren't meeting the right boys!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 20:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I've got the surprise factor going for me. I'm this breathless people-pleasing phony and I come across as dingy and not-too-bright and fragile, so I attract people who like to feel superior and/or protective whilst repelling people who think just think I'm a total bimbo. Then I surprise everyone occasionally by revealing a flash of intelligence or a flair for competence. None of which is by design, and frankly I wish I could ease up on the breathless dingy phoniness, but hey, we've all got our problems.

jewelly (jewelly), Thursday, 21 August 2003 03:08 (twenty-two years ago)

It used to be more my sellotape, but now people generally want to borrow my thesaurus. Has anyone else noticed how popular synonyms have become?

Clare A. (Clare I.), Thursday, 21 August 2003 03:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I have if "thesaurus" is a synonym for something dirty.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 21 August 2003 03:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I only find gloss, lexicon, onomasticon, nomenclator, Roget's, synonymy, gradus, and gazetteer, not counting 'dictionary' or phrases rather than single words. See you out the back in ten minutes.

Clare A. (Clare I.), Thursday, 21 August 2003 03:34 (twenty-two years ago)

usually 'cause of mental problems

duane, Thursday, 21 August 2003 04:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Millar (Millar), Thursday, 21 August 2003 06:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Because I can do magic.

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 21 August 2003 10:09 (twenty-two years ago)

My record and comic collections scare boys, and I like it that way.

!

(!)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 21 August 2003 10:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Martin, rosemary only said that her collection was scaring boys, not scaring them away!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 21 August 2003 11:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Despite appearances here to the contrary, I'm incredibly patient. I can put up with a lot. Unless you knock over the Christmas tree, then it's the fists of fury for you.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 21 August 2003 12:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Wrong thread. Patience isn't much of a turn-on for anyone.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 21 August 2003 12:28 (twenty-two years ago)

It is if you're Axl Rose.

Larcole (Nicole), Thursday, 21 August 2003 12:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Hahaha!

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 21 August 2003 12:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Thank you, Nicole :)

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 21 August 2003 12:30 (twenty-two years ago)

My pleasure. If I ever do karaoke, that is the one song I must sing.

Larcole (Nicole), Thursday, 21 August 2003 12:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Coz I am hot.

I dunno, I wish they wouldn't. It is really annoying.

toraneko (toraneko), Thursday, 21 August 2003 13:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Larcole ist rad. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 21 August 2003 13:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Rosemary, is your collection all EC horror comics?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 22 August 2003 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Because they cannot have me.

Ally C (Ally C), Friday, 22 August 2003 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

because you cannot have them.

RJG (RJG), Friday, 22 August 2003 17:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, I can have them.

Ally C (Ally C), Friday, 22 August 2003 18:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Cheap hotel rooms and 151.

Ally-zay (mlescaut), Friday, 22 August 2003 20:20 (twenty-two years ago)
