About the best I can come up with is that he's not as bad as Saddam Hussein.

Freedom Dupont, Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:06 (twenty-two years ago)

he'll be on permanent vacation starting January 2005.

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

hmmm, well, I guess he has fantastic eyebrows.

hstencil, Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Say something nice about George W. Bush (Unanswered, posted at 6:06 pm, unread)

Mark C (Mark C), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

You cross-posters spoilt my hilarious joke.

Mark C (Mark C), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

his hair usually looks combed

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

he's done the impossible ... he's organized the Democrats and anyone even vaguely left-of-center in their shared hatred of him like no-one else has done in my lifetime (see will rodgers, "i don't belong to an organized political party, i am a Democrat!")

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't you think Will Rogers meant "organizized"?

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:11 (twenty-two years ago)

He has a scotty dog!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:11 (twenty-two years ago)

he's forever discredited the notion that anyone who's attended an Ivy League college = by definition smart.

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:11 (twenty-two years ago)

he wears matching shoes

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:12 (twenty-two years ago)

His daughters seem like they'd be cool to hang out with.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:14 (twenty-two years ago)

ditto what Ally said. Jenna Bush is kinda cute. though she has Bush Family cooties.

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

He's kind of better than having a rabbit as president. But not as good as if Air Bud was president.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Air Bud would totally have caught Osama by now, I agree.

hstencil, Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

strategery

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)

misunderestimated

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

(ie his hilarious contributions to the lexicon)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

he says really stupid things that are (unintentionally) very funny. (XPOST with nickalicious)

also, one's opinion of him = best gauge on whether or not someone is cool, intelligent, and worth knowing. (i.e., anyone who really likes him and his record = someone NOT worth a second of my time.)

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

he often looks like a monkey, i like monkeys.

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

and for the record, i think that having a rabbit for president would be pretty darned cool. i'd vote for a rabbit, even over Clinton or FDR!

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

He's more Texan than his daddy.

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Also, he seems pretty much less silly than Dan Quayle in many respects. Though I'm not 100% sure about that, after that whole running around in a military costume thing. Theoretically I'm all for that but seriously, that was not hot at all.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

is that a good thing, Sam?

(I think he's just as faux Texan as his dad, if not more so.)

hstencil, Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

nah, he's real Texan.

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

so was LBJ. and LBJ was infinitely more cool than GW!

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

i quite like his accent, the drunken goon

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

He's not a real Texan, he was born in Connecticut! Hell I'm more real Texan than him and I haven't lived there since 1979.

hstencil, Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

He shares his initials with the George Washington Bridge.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:31 (twenty-two years ago)

it's not a matter of birth. I'm Texan through and through and I say he's real, so there you go.

Of course LBJ's cooler! But this thread was 'say something nice about. ." not "compare to . ." and that's the best I could think of.

geez.

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

No, and you can't make me.

(Though he does share a birthday with some pretty incredible people... i.e., teeny and me).

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, what is up with everyone being assholes on the "Say something nice..." threads all of a sudden? It's not "Discuss yr opinion of such-and-such" it's "SAY SOMETHING NICE". Now stop being assholes and play nice.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm still trying to wrap my head around the idea of a rabbit becoming president.

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

since when is disagreeing the same as being an asshole?

Oh okay, lemme think of another thing: at least his daughters aren't Xanax abusers!

hstencil, Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

That's the spirit.

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Taft...Eisenhower...Roosevelt...Nixon...Flopsy...

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

When the thread is about SAY SOMETHING NICE ABOUT... and you come on simply to diss on the subject, you're being an asshole. Sorry to inform you! Kisses in advance!

I don't think a rabbit could become president, I mean who heard of a 35 year old rabbit? But I think that instead we should probably maybe make a turtle president, they get pretty old.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Jeb would probably be even worse.

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Bugs Bunny is pretty old, at least in his 70s by this point!

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh good point!!!!

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't dis, I just said I don't think he's a real Texan. Sam and I are free to disagree, no big deal.

Also, I did pay his eyebrows a compliment.

hstencil, Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Raphael for President!

(he's the leader of the group, transformed from the norm by the nuclear goop)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:38 (twenty-two years ago)

one day, he will die.

amateurist (amateurist), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I think being more Texan than you Stence my verdict on the subject stands. ;)

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:45 (twenty-two years ago)

He's from Texas, he's a rabbit, AND he never ceases to amaze me.

Ann Sterzinger (Ann Sterzinger), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:46 (twenty-two years ago)

the jackalope?!?

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:47 (twenty-two years ago)

He has not been convicted of rape.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Jeb would probably be even worse.

Jeb WILL probably be even worse.

I mean, we'll get a one-(or poss two-)term Democrat and then another Bush. That's just the way the world works NOW. (And by WE I mean the world, cuz, that's what it says on GWB's jammies "President of the World")

something nice: He doesn't seem to be a drunken cokehead anymore.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:48 (twenty-two years ago)

he's worse: a moralizing teetotaler.

amateurist (amateurist), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

i guess Dubya is better than Jeb, because TX is great while FL has no redeeming value that i've ever been able to determine.

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

He never peed on anyone as far as I know.

literally, or figuratively?

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 21:05 (twenty-two years ago)

He never peed on anyone who didn't want him to do it, as far as I know.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 21:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Wait, Dan, are you trying to tell me GWB peed on you? There goes my theory.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 21:07 (twenty-two years ago)

GWB DID NOT PEE ON ME.

He might've peed on Ned, though, I don't know.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 21:08 (twenty-two years ago)

HAHA GWB TOTALLY PEED ON YOU!!! *points, laughs*

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 21:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Right. It seems like the whole intent of the thread is sarcastic. "Haha, defend THIS!"

Prude (Prude), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Dude, I think I'd know if the leader of the Free World peed on me.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

"Leader" of the "Free" World? Dan, you're playing semantics.

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

ditto to Tad's uniting the Dems and add Bush's initiatives to fight aids in Africa, which despite being flawed as hell and not quite living up to the hype (albeit still more than Clinton ever did), has at least depoliticised that issue in terms of changing the debate from whether the us should do anything to fight the aids crisis in africa to what the us should do to fight the aids crisis in africa (baby steps). also, in consolidating his hold on the republican party (and by proxy the federal govt - gotv people) he cleared out alot of the assholes that made the nineties such a pissfest, albeit Tom Delay's still around. he's been pretty good at being a Republican Clinton in terms of provoking the same sort of stupidity and rancor in his haters (exhibit a: much of this thread).

nnnh oh oh nnnh nnnh oh (James Blount), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

...That was in response to Amateurist's last post. But my reaction to him is perhaps just as visceral and subjective as yours, Dee. I feel nothing but pure hatred for him whenever I see his face, whenever I hear his name. The very fact of his presidency spits on any lingering ideas of fairness in the world I might have had. I hate him, hate him, hate him. And I realize this is not an intellectual response by any means and it undoubtedly keeps me from any balanced consideration of what his administration has done. But I'm sorry, this is how I feel.

Prude (Prude), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 21:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't tend to equate hating someone for having a feminist wife and getting blowjobs in the Oval Office with hating someone for making the US a laughingstock internationally, running the economy into the ground with handouts to the wealthy, blowing up a lot of nice, innocent people...

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 21:22 (twenty-two years ago)

"Leader" of the "Free" World? Dan, you're playing semantics.

Look, all I know is I live in a "no watersports" zone.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 21:23 (twenty-two years ago)

...That was in response to Amateurist's last post. But my reaction to him is perhaps just as visceral and subjective as yours, Dee. I feel nothing but pure hatred for him whenever I see his face, whenever I hear his name.

Haha I thought for a moment you were talking about ME.

amateurist (amateurist), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 21:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Goodness, no! I love ya, Ammy.

Prude (Prude), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 21:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Jane, you might feel a different sort of pain and anger were you the daughter of one of the soldiers who've died or might die in Iraq. Not that Bush personally shot any of them in the head, but...

Hey! I got it! He hasn't personally shot any of his own soldiers in the head so far as I know!

And the guy who does the voice of Sideshow Bob likes him, so maybe he's funny in private.

Ann Sterzinger (Ann Sterzinger), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 21:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha GWB is friends with GARY THE RAT!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 21:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I've heard he's actually a very warm, kind person IRL. The Clinton family get on very well with him.

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 21:49 (twenty-two years ago)

"Haha GWB is friends with GARY THE RAT!
-- Dan Perry (djperr...), August 19th, 2003."

Our president is open to dialogue with small furry mammals. Well, so long as they can afford tailored suits. Another plus!

Ann Sterzinger (Ann Sterzinger), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 21:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm curious what the Bush Twins' political views are, or if they even have any.

Maybe the one in Austin (Jenna?) will be on the Showtime freshman-year show they taped at UT.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 21:58 (twenty-two years ago)

jenna's at ut, the other one's at yale

nnnh oh oh nnnh nnnh oh (James Blount), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 22:12 (twenty-two years ago)

"interesting dreams" = um, being "tamed like a wild mustang"

Something nice: he has cute dogs.

rosemary (rosemary), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 23:48 (twenty-two years ago)

He might've peed on Ned, though, I don't know.

I can state for the record this has not occurred.

Thy Lethal Zen Ned (Ned), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 23:49 (twenty-two years ago)

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 02:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Waaait, I thought he was PRO peeing on people. Mr. President, WHAT IS YOUR POSITION ON THE LEG-PISSING ISSUE?!??!?!?

Ann Sterzinger (Ann Sterzinger), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 02:36 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't wish him dead until several hours after having his asshole torn out with a rusty hook.
nice thing to say about him : ummm, he sure knows lots of rich folks.

forbidden or obsolete (24 hour troubleshooter), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 04:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I think it would be great if he left Washington and became the general manager for the Dallas Cowboys.

daria g (daria g), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 05:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe i'll be the only one to give a sincere answer :
didn't he recently bring up the possiblity to impose sanctions on Israel (about this wall) ?

Bruno- (Bruno-), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 08:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I'l believe that when I fucking well see it.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 08:59 (twenty-two years ago)

didn't he recently bring up the possiblity to impose sanctions on Israel (about this wall) ?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 4 December 2003 07:47 (twenty-two years ago)

His defenders and supporters (neo-cons, fundamentalists, dumbasses, etc.) have all said enough nice things about him already.

Something nice about George W. Bush.

Dancing Queen, Thursday, 4 December 2003 09:09 (twenty-two years ago)

He hasn't (as far as I know) called Saddam a 'cocksucker' in front of Mrs B, called anybody a spazz, or posted any other 'Hey-look-at-me-everyone-I'm-so-un-PC-when-can-I-pick-up-my-medal' stuff on ILX.

Not recently anyway.

At least not when I've been watching.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Thursday, 4 December 2003 09:19 (twenty-two years ago)
