AFRO KEN

anthony, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The mullet dog is genius.

Paul Strange, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

for some reason, i thought this was going to be about ken livingstone

gareth, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

WOW I nearly bought an Afro Ken bag the other day, OH SAN-X is such genius! I can be found most work days scouring eBay for Kogepan and Tare Panda and Afro Ken but not that RUBBIDGE hampster. When I said I would buy Momus a wig I was thinking of Afro Ken.

Sarah, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sheesh they have an online store! I hope they sell good stuff and not just "erasers" and "notepads" which are nice but not worth spending that many pennies on...

Sarah, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh my GOD they sell Buru Buru dog stuff too. Oh, well, they sell a Buru Buru dog item. How about this becomes my I LOVE SAN-X THREAD and I talk to myself ha ha yes I am great I agree har HA!

Sarah, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Afro Ken is a dog and must therefore be destroyed. Even if his hair rocketh.

Richard Tunnicliffe, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ha! How many of you own a San-X spice rack? Hmm? I use Buru Buru Dog for my rosemary...

Actually, it would probably be embarassing and sad to get into the extent of my collection.

Nicole, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

m jemmeson, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Where did you find the Buru Buru stuff??? Please! It's so hard to find his stuff here - it's a wee bit easier online but still rather sparse. OH!

Sarah, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

DreamKitty is a damn RIP OFF when it comes to UK shipping. My goods came to $56.97. They said shipping = $45?!?!?!?!

PLEASE!

Sarah, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

dreamkitty.com won't work at all for me. i get 'No permission to access / on this server'. Someone needs to re-read their Apache guide methinks

m jemmeson, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have a hello kitty toaster. Every morning my toast is in the shape of hello kitty,

anthony, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

not shape it has hello kitty burnt onto it , the fillament is in the shpe of hello kitty

anthony, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sarah: usually all of the cool San-x stuff I get comes from ebay. You can find some really neat things from Hong Kong or Singapore, but usually the shipping prices are quite high so I try to stick with North American sellers. I think their shipping prices to Europe are usually pretty reasonable, iirc.

Nicole, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh, I like Hong Kong sellers as I've found a lot of them have UK bank accounts which can save on payment hassle. I can find a few things cheaper on there than I'd find them in Chinatown, it's just then it's shipping that becomes a hassle. Rats.

Sarah, Tuesday, 25 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Of coure KOGEPAN is a God too

tax rules, dude. corp tax at least. (personal income tax = zzz). especially when your professor looks like Christopher Walken and is the 10th justice.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Thursday, 31 July 2003 06:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not even in the John Stuart Mill class anymore, now I'm in a class about what would happen if Bruce Willis and Danny DeVito got caught by a beast known as liontigre.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:15 (twenty-two years ago)

With diagrams?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:17 (twenty-two years ago)

i prefer 'burnt toast boy'

kephm, Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:18 (twenty-two years ago)

For Andrew:

Lx: x is a lion
Tx: x is a tiger
Fx: x is ferocious
Cxy: x is chasing y
d: Danny DeVito
b: Bruce Willis

If a liontigre is chasing Bruce Willis, then Danny DeVito becomes ferocious.

[(Ex)[(Tx&Lx) & Cxb]] > (Fd)

(please note that that 'E' should be backwards but I don't know how to do that in this context of the intersupernet)

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:32 (twenty-two years ago)

That Hawking guy has nothing on this.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually I'm not entirely sure that's right. I think the existential quantifier is appropriate there because it is something having the quality of being a lion and a tiger which is chasing Bruce Willis, however maybe it is ANYTHING having the quality and therefore it should be the universal qualifier? Sigh.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:37 (twenty-two years ago)

No, if there exists a Willis-chasing liontigre, then DeVito is ferocious, so I think you're right.

I'm not sure the parenthesis around the liontigre bit are strictly necessary, though.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:41 (twenty-two years ago)

What it says is that if there exists x, such that x is both a lion and a tiger and x is chasing Bruce Willis then Danny Devito is ferocious.

RickyT (RickyT), Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:44 (twenty-two years ago)

That is basically what I meant to say so I think we're ok.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:45 (twenty-two years ago)

That would really spell doom for all of us though if that beast did such exist, wouldn't it?

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

It would? We could shear them like sheep and sell their manes.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Vivisector!!!

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I think the universal qualifier works like Ax (something to do with x) (something else to do with x), but the liontigre doesn't actual have a role in the "Danny DeVito is ferocious" scenario, so that's not it.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, we'd be fine, but I wouldn't give odds on AfroKen vs either a liontigre (even one sated on Bruce Willis) or a ferocious Danny De Vito

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Vivisector!!!

Well YOU can't have all the fun, jeez!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Well it does in that if it exists, then it will cause ferocity in Mr. DeVito; however Danny himself is not part of the existential qualification. Because he exists regardless of whether or not the liontigre does anything of the sort of chasing Bruce Willis, but the causal relationship provided by the existance of this horror beast is really the key part there.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:49 (twenty-two years ago)

[[(Ex)[(Tx&Lx) & Cxb]] > (Fd)] = Fa

a: AfroKen

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:50 (twenty-two years ago)

This is the worst thread mutation ever.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm intrigued but hardly disgusted or anything.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Anyone for a game of Wff'n'proof?

RickyT (RickyT), Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:58 (twenty-two years ago)

No, it's that the "Danny turning ferocious scene" doesn't actually feature a liontigre.

So if you've got two things where one implies the other and they have no elements in common, it's {thing1}->{thing2} but if they have an element a that has to be the same in both, Aa {thing1(a)} {thing2(a)}

So "if there's a liontigre chasing Bruce Willis, Danny Devito is chasing the same liontigre" is "Ax [Tx & Lx & Cxb] [Cdx]"

But "if there's a liontigre chasing Bruce Willis, Danny Devito is chasing _a_ liontigre" is "[(Ex)[(Tx&Lx) & Cxb]] -> [(Ey) [(Ty & Ly) & Cdy]]"

(I don't know how you separate the clauses in the universal qualifier)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 31 July 2003 14:02 (twenty-two years ago)

How sad am I: even this tiny opportunity to use my maths degree has cheered me up immensely.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 31 July 2003 14:03 (twenty-two years ago)

(there's about five trillions different ways to separate the clauses. it depends which notational system you are using)

RickyT (RickyT), Thursday, 31 July 2003 14:04 (twenty-two years ago)

But Danny being ferocious isn't really part of the whole qualifier if something exists being in the form of a liontigre, it's really more of a IF this happens, then Danny will do this BUT Danny himself has nothing to do with the qualifier besides the causal relationship so there is no clause issue going on. Obviously, if Danny was chasing the liontigre, that'd be a different story, but let's be honest here, who of us would fuck with a liontigre?

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 31 July 2003 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

For this we shall use predicate logic and the notation system I have set up otherwise confusion will run rampant all over ILX. The aqueducts of our internet society will collapse.

Now please notate that in sentential logic.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 31 July 2003 14:07 (twenty-two years ago)

That's what I'm saying, there are no common elements.

haha we are arguing about how we agree -> you will go far.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 31 July 2003 14:09 (twenty-two years ago)

This is because we are totally lame, do you see? Let's play Dungeons & Dragons and then maybe Myst next. And then we should go to the comic book convention, I'll dress like Sailor Mars.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 31 July 2003 14:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Px: x is a logical proposition
Nx: x is a well formed proposition according to Ally's rules
Cx: x is being run rampant
i: ILX

!(Ay : Py : Ny) > Ci

God, we're halfway to godel already.

RickyT (RickyT), Thursday, 31 July 2003 14:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Self-hate is so unbecoming, Ally. Join us.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 31 July 2003 14:17 (twenty-two years ago)

or alternatively:

![Ay [Py > Ny ]] > Ci

RickyT (RickyT), Thursday, 31 July 2003 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Ooer you saucy bitch, stealing my phrasology!

Ricky what is the !? I am not so far into my theory to know what that stands for at this juncture.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 31 July 2003 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

! = not. I can't find the usual not symbol on this mac.

RickyT (RickyT), Thursday, 31 July 2003 14:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Ohhhh ok. See I always do not like ~ or the one that is the down check thing. I was so confused for a second, like OH NO he has a new logic and it is mastering my logic, and my god what have I done, I will fail but now I feel better.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 31 July 2003 14:20 (twenty-two years ago)

¬ ?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 31 July 2003 14:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, that's it.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 31 July 2003 14:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Aha I have it now: ¬, option-L

RickyT (RickyT), Thursday, 31 July 2003 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh blimey Bruce is so big, clearly he'd take the liontigre.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 31 July 2003 14:32 (twenty-two years ago)

That's one ferocious Danny DeVito.

RickyT (RickyT), Thursday, 31 July 2003 14:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, he doesn't like shit going down with his boy Bruce.

(seriously, was there a movie I missed where all this occurred? Because sadly I didn't pull that logic problem I solved out of my ass, that's actually in the book)

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 31 July 2003 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Here are the titles which credit the individuals

Danny DeVito (Actor) ,
Bruce Willis (Actor)

44th Annual Golden Globe Awards, The (1987) (TV)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 31 July 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Wow, I'm sorry I missed that year, then!

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 31 July 2003 14:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, the climactic fight for Best actor between Bruce (Salvador), Danny (Mona Lisa) and LionTigre (The Colour of Money) is the stuff of hollywood legend.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 31 July 2003 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)
