I've never had a nosebleed. Is this despite, or because of, the fact that I suffer from really bad blocked-up nose and general sinus problems?

Tilt head back and press your finger HARD on the side of the nostril until you seal it shut. Count slowly to 60.
Eventually the blood will clot. The gross part is hacking up snot/blood clot about 5 minutes after the bleeding stops.

I'd combine the tissue-stuffing and the pinching with a slight forward lean. After three or four minutes of pinching, it would mostly go away, and I could get by with just tissues for another five or six minutes. But that's really only applicable if you're a heavy bleeder.

yes, just pinch your nostrils, lean forward and wait. then do a little clean up. no one wants to see you with a bloody face unless you're Andrew WK

I get nosebleeds all the time, usually when I'm sleeping (stuffy airquality/too many blankets -> dried nasal passages & higher body temp. = higher chance of nosebleed). Putting a wet cloth on your neck/forehead (and also b/w your upper gum and lip!) is to cool yourself down. I leave my head close to upright, just with a slight backwards tilt. I have no compunction w/ swallowing blood. In time it'll pass. Pinching is U&K.
If it has anything to do w/ chronically dry nasal passages, don't press hard on your nose obv., which can be remarkably hard to do sometimes inyour daily routines (e.g. washing your face, blowing your nose). Also, don't blow your nose hard. Don't overheat.

Am I the only chronic sufferer of these things on ILX? I'm surprised I never turned into a goff, the amount of blood I swallowed during my teenage years. The summertime bring them on something chronic as well... maybe to do with blowing my nose from hay fever?
I've been cauterised three fucking times, you know?

I feel like I have half a fucking blood bank congealed in my nose, and I'm afraid to blow it in case they start again. yay the summer

I have chronic rhinitis but I've only had maybe 2 or 3 nosebleeds in my whole life. I don't think it's connected to hayfever.

i used to get these all the time as a kid
my various cures:
1. getting it stopped: only one way here: apply constant pressure with your finger about halfway up the side of your nose that's bleeding, pinning some tissue there too, to catch the blood. you'll feel the right spot. do this for like 10 minutes
2. after it's stopped, wait a bit then fill a glass all the way to the top with warm water and dissolve some salt in it. inhale it through your nose. this is disgusting but works
3. smear vaseline up there. this is a magnitude more disgusting and i never really did it but apparently it's foolproof
