David Palmer: Compared to his opponent, a political neophyte. However, he has proven to be a tough fighter (surviving at least three assassination attempts, two within 24 hours!), and his relative naivete and inexperience in elected office can be a boon to him on occasion, e.g. resisting conventional wisdom and at times common sense. Rumors persist, however, that the recently divorced Palmer was seen in the '50s working as a gardener and making eyes at a white woman.

Bartlett: Far more media-savvy than his opponent, certainly more gregarious, in fact his speaking pace belongs in a less profane Mamet piece. Belying his Ivy League background, he is no less tough than Palmer (witness his ongoing battle with MS). Minuses: smokes, problem with full disclosure, his sons can't act.

However, I'd still vote for Palmer. He's indestructible.

However, Palmer also worked for the government in the field of genetic manipulation and brain transplants and kept a man under lock and key for an entire seriesyear. he was also a petty felon who graduated big stylee and was involved in a big job in LA in 1995 which saw callous disregard for citizens as the gang attempted to shoot their way out of the city. Ironic really, given his later attempts to save the said city from nuclear armageddon. Maybe he felt guilty?
