This morning's Graniaud revealed a disturbing factoid: that Salem bin Laden, one of ObL's little brothers, was A DIRECTOR in the failed oil company run by Dubya in the '80s.

WTF? Anyone care to shed any more light on this?

Yeah, I heard that on the radio. The journalist was probably looking for some tenuous 6-degree link between Bush and Bin Laden and never dreamed they'd come up with something as good as that.

Well, yes, I know the bin Ladens have more money than Allah but how did Salem and Dubya get to the same table when Bush 1 was prez and paying for ObL to have terrorist lessons? Hmmm?

A certain eyepatched gent suggested a few days ago that he had evidence that the Bushes were/are tight with Unocal, the fine folks who've been eyeing a pipeline across Afg for years and who are the main launderers of Afg's opium money.

I am starting to get the feeling that there is a real story to this, many real stories, that we will never know.

Actually Carter was the president when the company, Arbusto Energy was founded by Dubya. Salem appointed a guy called James Bath as his representative in Houston, who invested $50000 in Arbusto (suspected to be on behalf of Salem) in 1978. Bush said three years ago this was the only financial dealing he had with Bath. Salem died in a plane crash in 1983.

unocal is evil, not because of bin laden but because they effectively patented the definition of reformulated gasoline in the us. they did not invent a new product or process, and for this we pay 5.75 cents more per gallon of gas.
