Fiat Panda 4x4...C/D

Just bought one of these things,£250 on eBay,it's just like having your own Spanish hire car to thrash about town in!Cheap as chips to run,and you can take it off-road and go destroy some of the scenery.Has anyone else had one of these contraptions, and if so how hard are they to kill?Without killing anything else, that is.

And on a seperate subject, loosely connected by the fact it involves a car,I just heard a car go by my window playing very loud yodelling music. Is this a normal,or indeed, safe practice in South-East England?

Pictures Please!!

Lately I have been eyeing both the Hummer H2 and the Honda Element. I think it is because my androgen levels peak in late summer because my beard is growing in faster too. I can't come up with any better reason because frankly both of these vehicles are completely ridiculous.

Erm....don't know how to post pictures.I still have the web page from eBay with a picture of my car on it,so if anyone can tell me how to make that picture appear here, gentle and idiot-proof instructions would be the cat's pyjamas.....

Failing that,it looks just like a normal Fiat Panda, but it sits up higher and has slightly bigger wheels, and bullbars on the front. It's very odd, don't know what possessed them at the time when they came up with it!

And it comes nowhere near the size of any other 4x4 I've ever seen. It's tiny,a hummer would probably get the whole thing stuck in the tread of it's tyre!

if it's on Ebay it's probably not going to show up properly on ILX anyway. Can you just paste the link to the page?

you can still buy new Seat Marbellas can't you? they are just Pandas under a different name. I saw a Spanish-registered Marbella a few streets away that was a special edition called the Marbella Together. it kind of brought it home how words that are considered exotic can be used in branding things and how silly they can seem to native speakers.

when the Panda came out, if you bought one you got a year's free membership of the WWF!

I took the wheeltrims off, they looked ridiculous, which is hard to do compared to how stupid the rest of the car looks!

There are loads of Fiat Pandas about, but I never recall seeing a 4x4 version. Not much info on the web about them either.Bit of an oddball motor,I think!

It looks like fun! Now you just need to put a good winch on the front and install about 400 watts of audio equipment in the back.

I have a big sound system I took out of my Transit,I thought about installing it but the Panda is about as insecure as a 2CV and the pikey toerags round here would have a field day.Considered making a drop-in sub box with all the amps attached, got to find the time to put it all together. And you wouldn't need a winch, you could probably pick it up and carry it if it got stuck.Or just drive the wheels off it so it doesn't get the chance to get bogged down.It encourages silly driving, too. It actually induces a Spanish hire car state of mind in the driver.I normally consider myself to be a good driver, and I try and stay out of trouble on the roads. But this car just begs to be thrown about the streets.Or even a field/ditch/hedge,etc.Most fun I've had in a small car since my first Mini.
