Emilymv (Emilymv), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 19:29 (twenty-two years ago)

That isn't very fair to lucifer or the scarecrow.

Ann's country cousin Tammy Dugger is on Friendster. Look her up sometime.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

These ladies are much more badical.

Dale the Titled (cprek), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 19:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Man, the things she says, they're like WOAH. < /keanu>

"The swing voters---I like to refer to them as the idiot voters because they don't have set philosophical principles. You're either a liberal or you're a conservative if you have an IQ above a toaster." -- Ann Coulter

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 19:41 (twenty-two years ago)

It must be nice to have the whole world entirely figured out.

My xenophobia is like WO
Are you feelin' it?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 19:45 (twenty-two years ago)

"It's always so comforting when Muslims cite the precise verse from the Quran that tells them killing is wrong. Don't all empathetic human beings understand that instinctively? What if they lost their Quran that day and couldn't remember?" - Awesomest Anne Ever

"When contemplating college liberals, you really regret once again that John Walker is not getting the death penalty. We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed, too. Otherwise, they will turn out to be outright traitors." - Ann Again

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

But the problem with that argument Ann is that liberals can't be killed muahahahaha!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Shhh! You don't want conservatives to google onto our secrets!

Leee (Leee), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 19:56 (twenty-two years ago)

You know what scares me? I mean, really, REALLY, scares me in a rubber pants-wearing sort of way? That there are, in America today, millions and millions of people, both intelligent and moronic, that eagerly buy into everything she says.

Charles McCain (Charles McCain), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 19:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Anyone who buys into Ann Coulter is not intelligent by definition, no matter how eloquent/well-read they may be.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 20:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Point taken.

Charles McCain (Charles McCain), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 20:00 (twenty-two years ago)

so, she's like a slicker Doc Loora?
(hahaha, Cdns are largely shielded from her because we have Babs Amiel)

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 20:03 (twenty-two years ago)

eeeeeeeeewwwwwww! ann on dick cheney:"he is a handsome man. and you cannot imagine him losing his temper, which i find incredibly sexy."

ann on terrorism/muslims:"we should invade their countries, overthrow their leaders, and convert them to christianity." SCARY!

Emilymv (Emilymv), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 20:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm tellin' ya she just needs a good bonin'! Call up Big Jim Slade, give her good couple hours, she'll come out wearing Kucinich 2004 buttons.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 20:13 (twenty-two years ago)

that bit about the Quran above is very funny.

ryan (ryan), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 20:14 (twenty-two years ago)

the only reason she's even remotely popular is because she's a white trash male's wet dream. skinny, blonde, mouthy, and fond of firearms.

curtie slade (curtie), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 21:06 (twenty-two years ago)

People, people: Anne Coulter is a troll. The only way to make a troll go away is to ignore them.

fletrejet, Wednesday, 27 August 2003 21:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought getting rid of trolls involved goats and bridges.

Leee (Leee), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 21:28 (twenty-two years ago)

And Ann Coulter? Man, that's one hell of an illegal porn right there.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 21:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Cripes, I was talking about the Three Billy Goats Gruff and Ned has to pull out that... that... image...

Leee (Leee), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 21:40 (twenty-two years ago)

heh heh, 'pull out.'

teeny (teeny), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 21:43 (twenty-two years ago)

This thread is offensive to golden showers, too.

I think if people like her it's because she's funny and unflappable. Anyone who can tell outrageous lies like that without backing down one iota, sometimes even pushing farther with her argument, and take the punches to the gut she does and still come away smiling, can do just as well. It's just form, people. The content doesn't matter. (Except it does.) These formal assets—the things that make her likeable, or popular, or whatever name there is for the figures that television execs use to determine who should come on their show, because clearly the CONTENT is so often venal and cynical and representative of some of the very worst aspects of human nature—are roughly the things we admire in our heroes: she sticks to her guns; she toughs out unpopularity; she's untedious in a tedious environment.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 21:58 (twenty-two years ago)

It would be very nice if, every time Ms. Coulter's name was introduced in the media, she was referred to as Ann "Corky" Coulter.

Aimless, Wednesday, 27 August 2003 22:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I am starting to think she's Ed Anger in drag.

Larcole (Nicole), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 22:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Except Ed is intentionally funny.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 22:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I was summoned to respond to this hilarious excuse of a thread by one of my min-- I mean, one of my lovely readers, who thought it'd be neat for me to answer back in one of my stereo-- I mean, great examples of rational human thinking. Yes, I do fire a mean rifle, and I'm drooled over by aging fif-- I mean, tons of great guys, but I still think all of you who lack mor-- I mean, liberals would still find me to be a great ti-- I mean, friend, and a compassionate example of neo-conservatism that trash-- I mean, improves upon traditional conservatism. Oh yes, and you people from the People's Republic of California, DON'T VOTE FOR ARNOLD! He actually makes sen-- I mean, he's not a REAL conservative and is merely one of those RINOs (Republican in Name Only, for those of you too stup-- I mean, for those of you curious about the acronym). Don't hate me because I'm a laughable stereo-- I mean, really upstanding member of the community.

p.s.: Stay away from Kathleen Parker. She makes more se-- I mean, she's more of a weak-willed girl than I am, and she's more even-han-- I mean, she doesn't make nearly as much pure sense as I do.

Ann Coulter (Dee the Lurker), Thursday, 28 August 2003 00:46 (twenty-two years ago)

that joke about losing the koran was pretty funny (see racist-jokes thread), while at the same time being rather myopic, seeing as ministers and rabbis are likewise constantly citing the portions of the bible and torah that pertain to not-killing (see 10 commandments thread).

i don't know what to say about coulter that tracer hasn't already said. except to ask: how do people like this go away? i would normally suspect that, like harvey pekar (see harvey pekar thread) they would simply say something beyond the pale and be banished from the mainstream, but coulter's already said horrific things and she remains a talk-show guest.

sodo incendiary psychopathic talking heads burn out or do they fade away?

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Thursday, 28 August 2003 03:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Though once the sheer horror of that wears off the picture is actually pretty funny

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Thursday, 28 August 2003 03:28 (twenty-two years ago)

That pic scares me every time. Seriously, I just jumped a little. No more of that picture.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 28 August 2003 03:49 (twenty-two years ago)

what's funny though is that while tracer's note about her being seemingly impervious to criticism is true, there's also this strange desperation that comes through in her public appearances, where she really seems to want to be Liked and understood but being outlandish and maniacally unmoveable seems to be her faulty method for doing so. she seems really unconfident, something that's betrayed i think by her nervous horse laugh. i'm not just saying this because i hate her.

amateurist (amateurist), Thursday, 28 August 2003 03:55 (twenty-two years ago)

"Welllllllcome to the Crrrrypt! I hope you find the accomodations TREASONABLE! Eeee-heeheeheehee!"

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Thursday, 28 August 2003 03:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I get that from her too, am.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 28 August 2003 05:42 (twenty-two years ago)

A guy on the subway standing next to me was reading her book. I read over his shoulder for a minute or two. I had just gotten to the part about how Joe McCarthy saved America when we reached my stop. Damn. Now I'll never know how Joe McCarthy saved America.

every time i scroll down the page, the crazy eyes of Ann "corky" Coulter's picture seem to follow me. yikes!

Emilymv (Emilymv), Friday, 29 August 2003 14:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Kennedy has been famously Republican for years, where have you been??

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 29 August 2003 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Ashely Judd was photographed in a homemade "this is what a feminist looks like" shirt, I bet that's why she got crossed out.

rosemary (rosemary), Friday, 29 August 2003 15:05 (twenty-two years ago)

but, like, why not just delete her name? why cross it out to make it look like some kind of sicko hit list or something.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 29 August 2003 15:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Kennedy has been famously Republican for years, where have you been??

In a jar of nutella!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 29 August 2003 15:09 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
what happens when you try to have a serious debate w/ ann coulter.

priceless.;

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 11 March 2005 23:19 (twenty-one years ago)

What happens when you try to have a serious debate w/ the mentally ill.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 11 March 2005 23:29 (twenty-one years ago)

People should just ignore her. Giving her money to debate on campuses is a joke.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 11 March 2005 23:35 (twenty-one years ago)

otm. and it says something about Beinart.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 11 March 2005 23:38 (twenty-one years ago)

i agree with gabbneb. it's sick and a little sad that her publicists keep putting her out into these things, she's really off the rails.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 11 March 2005 23:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I think its sadder that universities pay her to exhibit her instability.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 11 March 2005 23:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I mean her publicists just want the money. I'm NOT shocked or saddened that they would take it if Tufts is stupid or venal enough to throw it at them.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 11 March 2005 23:45 (twenty-one years ago)

[Ann Coulter] countered Beinart's figures on poverty in red states by calling it a "coincidence" and saying there was no causal effect. "It's like saying Ann Coulter lives in New York City, thus [New York City] produces right-wing lunatics. (emphasis mine)

at least SHE'S self-aware that she's a right-wing lunatic!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 11 March 2005 23:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I disagree with her on almost every point, but I don't think she comes off in the article as unstable (although she usually does).

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Saturday, 12 March 2005 00:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't insist on a perfectly accurate characterization of anyone who calls liberals treasonous.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Saturday, 12 March 2005 00:10 (twenty-one years ago)

""I keep hearing Democrats say they couldn't get their message out [during the last Presidential election] - I don't believe that was the problem," Coulter said. "Was it a good idea to say it's our constitutional right to stick a fork in a baby's head?""

Um this strikes me as pretty crazy way to respond to your opponent's points, frankly.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Saturday, 12 March 2005 00:12 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, but it wins points with her own posse (which is really all that matters to people like her)!

latebloomer: damn cheapskate satanists (latebloomer), Saturday, 12 March 2005 00:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, but her own posse is filled with unstable people.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Saturday, 12 March 2005 00:18 (twenty-one years ago)

no dispute from me!

latebloomer: damn cheapskate satanists (latebloomer), Saturday, 12 March 2005 00:20 (twenty-one years ago)

If Ann Coulter and Ron Silver have a child, it will look like that lizard baby from the V miniseries.
