Poor Cow

It's a book by Nell Dunn and a film by Kenneth Loach. I've read the book, but it was a long time ago. All I can remember is that I didn't like it as much as Up the Junction and it contains possibly the first description of a female orgasm to grace Swadlincote public library - something to do with a chandelier falling down, I think. (I cannot vouch for the accuracy of this.) What I really want to know is whether it's worth 5.99 on DVD or should I wait for Cathy Come Home to be included in an HMV BOGOFF promotion?

Also, do you consider yourself a POOR COW?

I have read the book (in a dusty and very seedy looking paperback edition found on my mum's bookshelf years ago when I was looking for cheap thrills) but I can't remember much about it. I don't imagine the film is a life-affirming experience though.

I thought this was another Ann Coulter thread.

Up the Junction was the fruit of her having slummed it in Battersea for a bit, and I think there was some oral history/non fiction later on, but Poor Cow is a novel, I think. I could be wrong though. Archel's experience similar to mine - it is/was forgettable. Possibly due to stream of consciousness style? I think perhaps it is a Morrissey source text.
