This isn't "comics", per se, but on _The Simpsons_ episode about Lisa's first word, there's a bit where Selma (or Patty) leans in to kiss Baby Lisa, and Selma's / Patty's face distends into some Ralph Steadman-esque lip blob.

Incidentally, besides being the co-author of the Krazy Kat collection to get if you're getting only one (Chris Ware's swell art design on the new Fantagraphics volumes notwithstanding) McDonnell was apparently in a NY punk band in his 20s. Anyone know anything about this? Did they record anything?
