Whoops! [or... Quitting Your Crap Job Because You'd Rather be Sleeping: C/D]

OK I'm a moron. I just called my crap job and told them not to expect me in this morning... and to find someone to cover the rest of my shifts. Everyone's looking for work, without much luck, I'm probably making a big boo-boo, but whatthefuck, I've been at this shithole restaurant for a month now, a new GM comes, and schedules me for 4 lunches and Sunday dinner for the next month. 4 lunches + sunday dinner = no money. Really, I mean like no money for real. That's like $200/week for working full-time? My male hooker friend makes that in an HOUR! Anyways, I've been meaning to not-be-waiting-tables-anymore for awhile now, so I guess maybe its a good thing. I'm 23 and I need to be doing something a little bit more worthwhile than bringing stupid tourists their underspiced kungpao chicken and overpriced spicy tuna rolls anyway.

is there any reason you could not do the same? presumably he knows the ropes and can warn of pitfalls, and introduce you to it in the best way?

gareth (gareth), Saturday, 30 August 2003 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

phil-two (phil-two), Saturday, 30 August 2003 12:51 (twenty-two years ago)

We can't know if you'll regret it, but it sounds as if it had to come sometime, and I really hope you come out of it well.

hm, $250/hour sounds like good money. Do you have to be good looking to get that?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 30 August 2003 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Whoops pt.2: I set my alarm for 9:30PM instead of 9:30AM, thereby missing my first day of my new crappy job. Though I just emailed the guy and he said it's okay and to come in on Monday. And mentioned to our mutual friend that he thought it sounded like I was on drugs.

phil-two (phil-two), Friday, 5 September 2003 19:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think I'm meant to work for a living.

Hooker or pirate, that's the life for me!

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 5 September 2003 19:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Phil a band is a great way to lose money, not to make any.

hstencil, Friday, 5 September 2003 19:28 (twenty-two years ago)

i was trying to make a joke about the two of us not wanting to work for a living, so we should start a band, or something. claaaang! owell, ill be here all week folks.

hstencil, Friday, 5 September 2003 19:44 (twenty-two years ago)
