I want to post after that, but it's so final, I can't bring myself to do it.

me too, but the seal's already been broken.

oops (Oops), Saturday, 30 August 2003 23:39 (twenty-two years ago)

GODDAMNIT

ModJ, Saturday, 30 August 2003 23:41 (twenty-two years ago)

A certain poster's feminist critique really struck a nerve with me, made me see the error in my ways. I have changed my email address to reflect this.

*laughs ass off at 'new and improved' ending*

oops (Oops), Saturday, 30 August 2003 23:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Yay chaki! Who took it upon himself to do it bigger and better

ModJ, Saturday, 30 August 2003 23:49 (twenty-two years ago)

chaki, that's spectacular. No, it needs its own word, it's chaktacular.

Tep (ktepi), Saturday, 30 August 2003 23:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Chakirriffic!

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Saturday, 30 August 2003 23:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Kingfish (Kingfish), Saturday, 30 August 2003 23:55 (twenty-two years ago)

much as i enjoy the clinton the end pic, i am sad that the other thread has been locked.

gareth (gareth), Saturday, 30 August 2003 23:59 (twenty-two years ago)

why? what good was coming out of it? i think we've all had enough meta the last few days to tide us over for quite awhile.

oops (Oops), Sunday, 31 August 2003 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

And it was funny.

ModJ, Sunday, 31 August 2003 00:01 (twenty-two years ago)

the key point.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Sunday, 31 August 2003 00:03 (twenty-two years ago)

chaki you've reaffirmed my faith in humanity (if not ilx)

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 31 August 2003 00:14 (twenty-two years ago)

(in fact, it's a good thing i found it funny considering that there was no grounds for someone locked a thread that they didn't start and didn't fall within guidelines.)

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 31 August 2003 00:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I was going to pot this to _that_ thread (you know the one) but someone locked it, ack!!!

Most of us were newcomers here at some point, loads of us have spoken out on lots of issues, lots of us have argued with older posters: why are you getting all of this? It's not because you're a woman, or a feminist or hitting such issues strongly - there are many such posters here who everyone likes. There must be an explanation, you know...

-- Martin Skidmore (lonewolf.cu...), August 30th, 2003.

Hear, hear. I was a newcomer less than a year ago and still post more on ILM than ILE but I've still put my foot in my mouth a fair few times, some of them I still don't know exactly what I've done wrong.
I find that I'll have a disagreement with someone who I've not noticed before then I'll keep noticing their posts and eventually get a better idea of why they said what they did. Martin is a case in point, I think it was you I got into a discussion about that RnB generator thing (sorry if it wasn't you) but after reading more of you I think you're kind of sweet and your differnet experiences have led you to a different place.

Just the other day I posted what I thought were quite funny photos which some ppl took as me having a go at a dwarf. It wasn't, I just thought they were funny/hugely-improbable pics and lots of people I know IRL thought so too, but my sense of humour came across wrongly or whatever so just I've stepped back, no bigee.

Orbit, please try to relax and come back to this later. It's not that everyone's having a go at you because you're new or female but you are coming across as a bit aggressive.

We've got no history but just on this thread there are lots of things you've said that I must disagree with eg you ARE posting anonymously, albeit consistently. There are many people here whose names and something about their real lives everyone knows - they're not disconnected from their non-net selves. My own full name is in my email adress for example.

Suzy is another person I've had run-ins with but she usually has some very interesting things to say, I think my problem there is not knowing anything about her at all before jumping in at the deep end and the fact that we both clearly have very strong and often diverging views.

TLML is right Suzy, those Chan Marshall threads had some very interesting discussions about media representation, particularly of women, that I'd very much like your opinion on. I ignored the thread about Chan on ILM but then a thread called 'women and the body' popped up on ILE related to it and together they make very interesting reading. Will you take a look?
