Most tea.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 1 September 2003 04:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Pesto always smells great, but makes me nauseous when I actually ingest it. Same with turpentine.

Jesse Fuchs (Jesse Fuchs), Monday, 1 September 2003 04:10 (twenty-one years ago)

many liqueurs (-eat +drink)

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Monday, 1 September 2003 04:10 (twenty-one years ago)

the elephant in the room here is VANILLA EXTRACT

trife (simon_tr), Monday, 1 September 2003 04:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, trife wins. If you could map this, like, "Oh, that smells eleven funktons worth of good, but oh oh oh, it actually tastes forty-five funktons worth of bad," vanilla extract would own.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 1 September 2003 04:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, barring the entrance to the thread of any perfumes, colognes, etc. I've accidentally inhaled cologne more times than I'd like to admit, and sometimes coffee doesn't quite wash the taste off your tongue.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 1 September 2003 04:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Umm... Bacon.

turkish delights

Emilymv (Emilymv), Monday, 1 September 2003 06:41 (twenty-one years ago)

i was surprised in my first trip to London that you could actually get turkish delight out of a snack machine in the subway. This, Edmund's sinful apple-of-Eden that he throws his autonomy and innate goodness away for could be snapped up for 50 pence?? it seemed too easy. it was. EUUUGHH.

in kindergarten we had a cool teacher who had a bunch of stuff and we sat in a circle and she passed it around. on the first pass we were just to smell it, and on the second we were to taste it. cinnamon was the biggest headfuck for me.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 1 September 2003 06:51 (twenty-one years ago)

definitely bbq. been smelling it all weekend.

I would also say myself but as sweet as i'm sure my pussy smells I'm w/out a doubt it tastes soo much better. So GET IN ME muthafuckas. . .

(ps, that's the post you were waiting for? right?)

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Monday, 1 September 2003 10:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I suppose durian is the classic counterexample.

tracer machine-made fry's turkish delight tastes better once you realise it is made of sweetened petroleum jelly in solid bar form (with a delicious chocolate covering)

All food. If I could enjoy the smelling as much as I enjoy the noshing I would be a much more snake-hipped Lara!

Lara (Lara), Monday, 1 September 2003 20:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Turkish Delight is yum.

The top ten things that are better to smell than eat are:

10: Coffee
9: Coffee
8: Coffee
7: Coffee
6: Coffee
5: Coffee
4: Coffee
3: Coffee
2: Coffee
1: Coffee

Christine 'Green Leafy Dragon' Indigo (cindigo), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 00:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Tobacco. Sorry, but I love the smell of un-burnt tobacco.

Gasoline. Ditto. Not sorry about it, either.

Vanilla extract.

Bacon is great, smelt or eaten.

Matt Maxwell (Matt M.), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 01:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Your mother seconded.

Also, those candy-coated nuts you smell on the street. Never quite as tasty as they should/could be.

ModJ, Tuesday, 2 September 2003 02:08 (twenty-one years ago)

custard

(can never escape the sense i'm eating puss)

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 10:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Gotta third bacon here, which is not to say that a good slab of bacon doesn't taste good, but rather that it almost never lives up to the smell.

Has anyone mentioned garlic yet?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 22:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Alex in vampire shockah!

Coffee is so otm.

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 22:08 (twenty-one years ago)

flowers
-- tokyo rosemary (rosemarygilber...), September 1st, 2003.

Flower tacos, anyone? Yummmmm.

Francis Watlington (Francis Watlington), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 22:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Sauteed onions. It's a great smell, but the heat destroys a lot of the bite that onions have so you get some neutered, blander sweetness instead.

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 23:25 (twenty-one years ago)

And yet I have a craving for some right now.

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 23:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Forgive me, I misread this thread as 'stuff that's often better to smell than to eat... inspired by my wank tonight'.

I'll get my coat.
