Oops - html is fucked up, but the link works.

Kerry (dymaxia), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 17:34 (twenty-three years ago)

it's still a 1 in 90,000 chance. Better than winning the lottery but not better than nothing.

hstencil, Tuesday, 2 September 2003 17:36 (twenty-three years ago)

We beg for the sweet release of catastrophic destruction.

Dale the Titled (cprek), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 17:37 (twenty-three years ago)

that's actually 1 in 900,000 stence. and that's a difference that really means something to me! uh, wait... maybe it doesn't

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 17:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Cprek that could totally be a birddog lyric!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 17:42 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm a little troubled that my initial reaction to this was a disappointed "2014! that's ages from now!"

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 18:02 (twenty-three years ago)

don't the odds against usually increase like by the day and exponentially after first sighting?
unless of course...

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 18:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Play a game of rock, paper, scissors. If you win, then roll seven six-sided dice. After that, if ALL DICE produce 1's, then the chance of this asteroid hitting the earth is slightly worse. Again, they will (")gather data(") and find out more.

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 18:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Wasn't there another asteroid that was due to hit in 2019 or so? I think that one was found to pose no threat. I expect the same will happen with this one.

Mandee, Tuesday, 2 September 2003 18:27 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't know about usually, though I imagine yes, but in this case it has been stated to be yes.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 18:30 (twenty-three years ago)

DB, remember I have stoneskin cast on myself before you start rolling those dice.

Still that made my hair stand straight up.

s1utsky (slutsky), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 20:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Still, notice how the media downplay the danger: no one will believe til a giant ball of rock and fire appear in the sky, one night

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 22:16 (twenty-three years ago)
