So, the divine Nigella Lawson has gone blonde. It does not suit her at all!

i went blonde once when i was sixteen. i looked v trashy. i always thought madonna looked better as a brunette too. peroxide stings. regrowth is ugly. fake blonde = dud.

LC dyes her hair blonde cos (she says) men are so much nicer to blonde girls, and now she has been both blonde and brown she reckons she is LIVING PROOF.

That's 100% false, DG. Men aren't nice to girls because of something as ludicrious as hair color, there are about 8 trillion other factors that come into it. I can state for a fact that I get much "better" treatment from men than my (naturally very light blonde) roommate. I have dark auburn hair.

Its my belief that if you do have light coloured or blonde hair, you are noticed more, simply because light, bright colours advance and darker colours recede.

But darker colors draw more attention to other things, plus it depends on the darker color and the exact shade you've picked.

I am, as many of you know, absolutely butt ugly, so other considerations don't even come into it. I have had every colour of the rainbow, but I do find that when I am light to honey blonde (as I am now) I get treated better and given more attention by both sexes.

I don't pretend to speak for everyone, however. Different colours suit different people. I think people will likely get more attention if they choose a hair colour which is most striking on them.
