is american wedding any good?

trife (simon_tr), Saturday, 6 September 2003 22:45 (twenty-two years ago)

the funniest thing ever is a gesture wildred hyde-white makes in "the third man"

i. whw is with his mysterious woman companion who never once speaks
ii. he realises holly martins is a writer and can therefore give a lecture to his cultural group
iii. he turns to his mysterious companion and raises his index finger and his eyebrows, in a single gesture which means "hang on right there darling, i've just had a brilliant idea i'll tell you about in a minute, meanwhile i have to hurry acxoss the room and talk to this man neither of us have ever seen before"

"the third man" is a good movie anyway, but this one gesture would make it worth the ticket even if the rest of it was lame beyond belief -> bcz it is the funniest thing ever

Stifler is such a fully realized character (esp. in the first film) that I'm worried Seann William Scott will never be satisfactory in any other kind of role.

I still gotta see the Rundown though.

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 6 September 2003 22:56 (twenty-two years ago)

trife (simon_tr), Saturday, 6 September 2003 22:56 (twenty-two years ago)

yes exactly, she is only mysterious in the sense that no one else ever refers to her and she is like 750 years younger than him and seems to have no interest in anything he is doing

mark s (mark s), Saturday, 6 September 2003 22:56 (twenty-two years ago)

i heard he gets killed in final destination!!! i hope for the sake of the stifler look he gets peed on first or something

trife (simon_tr), Saturday, 6 September 2003 22:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Third Man is great, but it's been so long since I viewed it I can't remember that scene.

What happens when he finally ends up giving the lecture? Doesn't he like stumble into the lecture room by accident? If I recall, hijinx ensue..

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Saturday, 6 September 2003 22:59 (twenty-two years ago)

he's kind of annoying in Final Destination. Worth seeing anyway.

he kinda looks like Vanilla Ice pretending to be Millar.

Best description of anyone ever, Anthony.

I keep misreading this thread title. A lot. I think I'm starting to enjoy it.

god, the american pie movies really are some high point of american culture

trife (simon_tr), Saturday, 6 September 2003 23:33 (twenty-two years ago)

i wonder if he was funny when he claimed he "had his eye on deniro" in US magazine.

nathalie (nathalie), Sunday, 7 September 2003 07:55 (twenty-two years ago)

before acting, he worked at the San Diego zoo. and he appeared in one of the greatest movies of all time (D,WMC?). most feminine BMOC-type ever.

(The Third Man is a classic if you like anti-American double-time detective story hoohah with Nazi-flirting moral relativism as the glamour. Just a noir, I guess. i thought whw's mysterious woman companion was different each time? shows how much i pay attention.)

gabbneb (gabbneb), Sunday, 7 September 2003 12:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Stilfer also was the guy in "Road Trip", who got off on anal stimulation and was not made to seem less studly. Dan Savage proclaimed the movie to be progressive b/c of facets like this.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Sunday, 7 September 2003 15:44 (twenty-two years ago)

One could make a good case for the first American Pie being pretty progressive too. ESPECIALLY in the context of teen sexploitation comedies.
