I was going to comment on the city of Beverly Hills, but seeing the blank question field I have to say I know nothing about any porn star named "Beverly Hills."

There was an actress once with the name Beverly Hills. This is crap in itself, and was compounded by the fact that she played Mick Johnson's girlfriend in Brookside. I mean, a Scouse bit-part actress with a name like Beverly Hills? WTF?

actually, the Calzer's post was about the city. I've only been next to the border, never actually been in it.

the poshness of Beverly Hills is far overrated. there are many parts far more affluent than Beverly Hills in the greater L.A. area: Bel Air, parts of Malibu, Palos Verdes, Laguna Beach, Newport Beach.. even more so when you get down to San Diego.. Rancho Santa Fe to thread. And let's not even mention the Bay Area for high affluence.

(well, for those of you who give a shit about affluent California neighborhoods all that much.)

It's also excessively green and cool. Driving on Sunset Blvd. from downtown to the beach is very schizo. You go from more rundown Silverlake, to west hollywood, then BAM.. it's dark, green, and toxically residential.. welcome to Beverly Hills.

I was on the VIP list for some media thingy in Rodeo Drive but, as I don't drive and my 'chaufuer' couldn't hang around too long (damn), I didn't bother staying. I just went along to check I was on the guest list which felt kinda cool. Doubt I could have afforded the drinks anyway - it looked like a really posh party.

It's good being on a PR list tho.

Calzer (Calzer), Sunday, 7 September 2003 22:41 (twenty-one years ago)

you were on the guest list but didn't get free drinks? Sounds like a gyp to me, bro.

Rolling Hills Estates to thread--so posh it's not even a CITY--it's private property, with its own laws--you can tie your horse anywhere, horses have right-of-way, etc. Right in the middle of the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

Highest median home prices in California (July 2003):

Malibu, $1,190,000
Beverly Hills, $1,120,000
Palos Verdes Estates, $1,035,000
Manhattan Beach, $1,015,000
Burlingame, $931,500
Laguna Beach, $893,000
Calabasas, $880,500
Mill Valley, $870,000
Del Mar, $868,000

Plus, none of these other towns have anything remotely as disgustingly extravagant as Rodeo Drive...

but BH is classic for one thing: ginza sushiko
