Political Pundits Talking About Pop Culture, C or D?

I'm so bored, I'm watching "The McLaughlin Group," America's most silly political talk show. They just debated an NFL kick-off party that was held on The Mall in Washington, D.C., and Pat Buchanan (of all people!) just said "Britney Spears is over the hill."

And now they're on to the California recall, so is politics now pop culture? Or vice-versa? And what do you think?

(I think it's hilarious.)

hmm, if I can find some, I will. Ol' Pat seriously said that about Britney, though.

yeah it is the best but I miss the Fred Barnes/Pat Buchanan/Jack Germond/Eleanor Clift lineup of my youth.

It varies, in my mind, between hillarious and pathetic/sad. Usually balances somewhere in the middle with 'well, it's better than Nick@Night now that they're no longer showing Barney Miller re-runs.'

"Death of the West" should be a Dennis Lyxen side-project.

The McLaughlin Group:

This show is brilliant, not for content, but sheer style. It's like a bulldog pit with neckties. Grrrr! *adjusts tie*

It should have its own drinking game!
"DISCUSS!" - take one shot
"X doesn't know what s/he's talking about!" - spin around, take a shot
etc etc

Supposedly McLaughlin himself actually was given his own celeb talk show type thing once about a decade back or something -- I've read a transcript of his interview with Brooke Shields. Hilarity!

Seems a lot of these guys look like bulldogs, Tim Russert and Chris Matthews certainly fit the description.

Even the political talk show hosts ignored the Democratic debate and switched on the game, it seems.. :)
