And darn it, as RJG said over on the other thread where this was announced, this deserves its own thread! Hurrah for Alex and his wife! May the child HONOUR FIRE.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 8 September 2003 01:42 (twenty-two years ago)

ned telling a child to honour fire could be construed as criminally negligent, i think.

and congrats of course.

gabbo giftington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 8 September 2003 01:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Best wishes to you and your significant other, Alex!

Baby in NYC needs this

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Monday, 8 September 2003 04:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe Alex should hold some sort of contest or bidding war for ILXors ... and then winner gets to name the child. I'm sure this group could come-up with something appropriate and creative.

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Monday, 8 September 2003 04:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I think it should be named "Ally".

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 8 September 2003 04:12 (twenty-two years ago)

*laughing* I think that works.

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Monday, 8 September 2003 04:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I want to send the baby this.

'Miso in my sippy cup,
Tofu in my bowl.
Crab and avacado,
fill my California roll.'

(Yeah, I know that true sushi snobs look down upon California rolls, but hey, it's a baby!)

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Monday, 8 September 2003 04:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah!hmmmm...

Welcome to the daddy club, my good fella! 'Tis a very wonderful adventure you're embarking on. I must say!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 8 September 2003 04:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Congratulations! Anything your wife says in the next 9 months, agree with! Anything she wants, get her! She'll be tired and cranky and bloated and don't forget to tell her how beautiful she is. (And then stand back - if it's an uncomfortable day, she may try to hit you).

Ultimately, though, I wish you all the very best. Kids are so much fun.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 8 September 2003 05:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Congrats!

JuliaA (j_bdules), Monday, 8 September 2003 05:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Wow... imagine a child that's been played Iron Maiden in the womb. Just... IMAGINE.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 8 September 2003 07:06 (twenty-two years ago)

yay congratulations alex and yes many many back massages are in order for your beloved over the next months, along with foot and leg rubs, much tolerance for bizarre moods swings and so much joy as you see your little one grow!
its very exciting.

dads can tend to be a tad forgotten during pregnancy, all the focus turns to the 'tum'. remember you are the 'other half' to this new life, and deserve to be just as involved as your wife.
best of luck! i hope it goes well for you all :-)

donna (donna), Monday, 8 September 2003 07:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Congrats to the fiery Papa and Mama!

congratulations alex! great news.

H (Heruy), Monday, 8 September 2003 08:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Congratulations, Chris!!! Don't believe the hype, it's scary -- but not nearly as horrific as some people make it out to be (or maybe I just haven't hit that part yet). It is a life-changer though.

Thanks and kudos to you!!!!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 13:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Good thoughts for Chris! And Alex...yeah, it's unfortunate, but it might not have been as unfortunate if you didn't simultaneously look like you were recovering from a hangover, being homeless and getting two black eyes. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 13:24 (twenty-one years ago)

a hangover, being homeless and getting two black eyes.

Parenthood in a nutshell.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 14:21 (twenty-one years ago)

just you wait...

Really, it does my poor old heart good to see this bebe and her glowing parents. Enough to make me want another of my own.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 17:46 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks. We feel reasonably prepared to actually be parents, at least as prepared as we're going to get (I have half brothers who were infants when I was in high-school and college, so changing diapers, feeding, and all that won't be new to me). It's other stuff -- work/daycare logistics, costs, etc -- that seems daunting. There have only been a couple of times so far when the enormity of it all has made start to hyperventilate :-)

chris herrington (chris herrington), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw. :-)

I think that pink dress is the most feminine (as socially constructed) thing I've seen her in yet! Where's the black T-shirt for her?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 12 June 2004 01:11 (twenty-one years ago)

We have lots of conventionally "feminine" outfits for her, but she only fits into a few of'em. Some wiseacre friends of mine gave her a little black t-shirt that reads "Daddy Drinks Because I Cry" (which is all too true) and a little black smock/dress with the Ramones logo on it (complete with a pair of little black socks), but neither would fit at the moment.

I'm still waiting for the ILX onezie for her to arrive.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 12 June 2004 01:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw, mannnn. This had better show up soon, because I want to see what it'll look like!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 00:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Still no sign of it.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 01:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 17 June 2004 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

The hair is looking even more punk somehow.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 17 June 2004 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd like to explain the sickly neon green Izod by saying I had to go visit a mob of in-laws yesterday. I know. What a sellout I am, eh? In any event....a father's day pic.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 20 June 2004 21:54 (twenty-one years ago)

My God. I would consider killing for a shirt that color.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Sunday, 20 June 2004 22:04 (twenty-one years ago)

You should stitch a small 'honour the fire' bit below the alligator.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 20 June 2004 22:04 (twenty-one years ago)

And here I am being tackled and pinned by a pint-sized assailant.

Ahahahahahahahahahaa!!!

Je4nne Ć’ury (Jeanne Fury), Sunday, 20 June 2004 22:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I got the shirt in question at the lamentable new Bloomingdales in Soho (former site of....a moment of silence, please.....Canal St. Jeans). Someone gave us a 75 buck gift card, so I spent it thusly. I might rip that fuckin' alligator off of it, though. I do like the color, it must be said.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 21 June 2004 00:41 (twenty-one years ago)

"See, honey, when you sit back and listen to your Stranglers box set for your 21st birthday, THIS is how you need to appreciate it, with a beer in your hand!"

"Yeah right dad, turn on the Wiggles so I can rock out."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 01:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Very PINK in the second photo there

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 23:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Those are my sister's sheets at my mother's place, if ya must know (I would never outfit a bedroom with that color, personally). They are indeed an eyesore.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 00:17 (twenty-one years ago)

she is soooooooo cute Alex.

It makes me want a third.

Oh wait, I just remembered what it's like having two.

Enjoy these days. They go by so quickly!

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Friday, 16 July 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmmm. Wonder why it has a prob with that one image. Oh well.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 16 July 2004 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmmm. Apparently when the rest of the address is too long, the pic doesn't register. Not good. So much for the overhaul. Bring back IRC SRC, I say.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 16 July 2004 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)
