Geoff Dyer: God or God-like?

Ok, I've just finished reading Yoga For People Who Can't Be Bothered To Do It, and it is really so SO fine. Funny, sad, insightful, both the best travel book I've ever read, and a complete betrayal of travel writing as a genre. His books about John Berger (Ways of telling), on DH Lawrence (Out of Sheer Rage), on men's ability to mess up any opportunities they get to be happy (Paris Trance), on World War One (The Missing of The Somme) - these are all superb too. Why is he not better known?

i've only read the colour of memory, which i enjoyed
some of the writing in it really annoyed me actually, but as the book went on i got used to the fact that some of the characters had really annoying ways of saying things, and i ended up really enjoying it...
one of my friends has the jazz book, but beautiful, which i am going to read once i get a loan of it...
