As I've said before, I'm going to NYC next month and I have nothing to do on the 11th, 12th, and 13th of October, and I'd love to hang out with all you fabulous New Yorkers at least one of those days.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Thursday, 11 September 2003 13:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Okay, seriously, do New York ILXers hate me?

Melissa W (Melissa W), Thursday, 11 September 2003 15:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I think Vicky's in NYC around that time too.

chris (chris), Thursday, 11 September 2003 15:34 (twenty-two years ago)

If I lived in New York I would go for a pint with you. But I live in Dublin. so I can't.

DV (dirtyvicar), Thursday, 11 September 2003 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Melissa, the problem is most of us (the ones who showed at FAPs at least) don't check ILX much anymore! I promise--I only check sporadically, Mary's in London on holiday, I haven't seen a post by Felicity in ages, Tracer just moved, Yancey doesn't read anymore, Matos moved to Seattle, I haven't seen bnw or Daddino posting much either, I know they're both quite busy generally...etc etc. It's not personal, I only just saw this thread, I can attempt to rally el troopo together for the 11th, that's a Saturday, in the evening?

My problem is that your trip happens to fall coincidentally with my dad's birthday so I might not be around but in all honesty things are going to probably fall thru so I SHOULD be around.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 11 September 2003 17:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm always up for a drink. I think there are a bunch of shows that weekend too. I think Beulah, Yo La Tengo/Aislers Set/Sun Ra Arkestra, I think also Stars/Essex Green? or was it Grandaddy/Super Furry Animals...

phil-two (phil-two), Thursday, 11 September 2003 17:41 (twenty-two years ago)

See? What about Carey and Nitsuh and any other recent transplants? I'm sure we can get a group together. Though I won't go see Yo La Tengo.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 11 September 2003 17:48 (twenty-two years ago)

yo mel! what ally said -- i will prob be out of town for some of the days you will be here (which is why i can't offer a place to crash), but i'd be down to get a drink if i'm around!

geeta (geeta), Thursday, 11 September 2003 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe Millar and his shark-jumping friends would like to come.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 11 September 2003 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll likely be in NYC sometime in Oct.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 11 September 2003 17:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 11 September 2003 18:55 (twenty-two years ago)

phil-two (phil-two), Thursday, 11 September 2003 18:56 (twenty-two years ago)

actually, i may be able to show up to this FAP. as i said, "may" -- can't promise, but it may be doable. esp. since i have a month's notice.

Tad (llamasfur), Thursday, 11 September 2003 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Thursday, 11 September 2003 20:39 (twenty-two years ago)

felicity (felicity), Thursday, 11 September 2003 20:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Melissa, what did you have in mind?

Carey (Carey), Friday, 12 September 2003 20:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I have no idea...I've never been to NY.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Saturday, 13 September 2003 00:18 (twenty-two years ago)

how much time do you have? should we come up w/ tourist recommendations?

gabbneb (gabbneb), Saturday, 13 September 2003 00:33 (twenty-two years ago)

That Mark Ryden exhibit sounds cool. I wish he'd show in Chicago sometime.

jaymc (jaymc), Saturday, 13 September 2003 00:36 (twenty-two years ago)

My only free days are the 11th, the 12th, and the 13th... Every other day is completely full. I don't know if I'll much be in the mood for the tourist thing or not. I just want to have fun and meet people.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Saturday, 13 September 2003 00:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Wait, you don't have ID? I've noticed more and more places carding suddenly in the Bloomberg Reign of Terror...

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 15 September 2003 15:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Vicky's there on the weekend of the 25th.

chris (chris), Monday, 15 September 2003 15:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Sounds like it'll be a Fancy a Pepsi to me. Though if those dates fall on a sunday or monday or something, most bars don't card/care. Well, actually, of the last few places I've been to, only Lit, Hole, Pianos, Bar-13, and a couple of homo-bars carded me. Welcome to the Johnsons, Magician, Great Lakes, and places in Williamsburg didnt....

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 15 September 2003 17:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Sunday or Monday=I cannot come but you're right about the not caring. There are plenty of places that won't card but it can be spotty--like I've seen sitches in which one week the bar carded, next time it did not, etc etc and my main concern is picking a bar, telling everyone to meet there, and then people not getting in cos of carding? Melissa is a girl though which dims likelihood of getting card.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 15 September 2003 17:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Magician cards me!

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Monday, 15 September 2003 17:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Who cards you there?? There's never anyone working the door?

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 15 September 2003 17:18 (twenty-two years ago)

The bartenders!

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Monday, 15 September 2003 17:21 (twenty-two years ago)

mel getting a fake ID in NYC is E-Z, this is not a problem at all! there are actually places that say "IDs made" on their signs outside

top spots for fake iDs:

* st. mark's place (just south of 9th st and just east of Bowery; take the 6 train to Astor Place). ask around if you don't see any ID signs.

* west 4th st and 6th ave, i'm sure the tattoo parlors around there will do one, or know a place that will (west 4th stop on the F train)

* hell's kitchen: 8th ave and 9th ave between 40th and 50th street

suzy (suzy), Monday, 15 September 2003 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

There's a pretty good fast place right by the Christopher Street 1/9 subway station as well.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 15 September 2003 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yeah, that smoke shop on west 4th street between 6th/7th ave makes cheesy fake IDs for cheap.

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 15 September 2003 17:52 (twenty-two years ago)

bada boom bada bing

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 15 September 2003 17:55 (twenty-two years ago)

two weeks pass...
I will be fapping for Melissa in New York.

grraham, Wednesday, 1 October 2003 14:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think I'm coming, sorry.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Thursday, 2 October 2003 04:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh well. I will. 10th-13th. Come say hi.
