"Hi, I'm Doug Henwood, this is Behind the News, we're looking, as we do most weeks at this time, at the worlds of economics and politics."

...So begins every ep of his radio show on wbai.

site for his magazine here (radio shows archived there as well) (listserv too): http://www.leftbusinessobserver.com

I'm a big fan of this guy. He's a left wing economist, a rare enough bird, and he and his guests get really deep into policy etc, all that boring sub-c-span stuff where power really lives. There are some stars too (Naomi Klein, Hardt, Alfred Stiglitz).

He's written a book called Wall Street that I haven't read, nor have I read any of his mag other than the free stuff on the site. Great links page, too.

Anyone else like/know of him? Do we have a house economist on ilx??

I've been meaning to read Wall Street forever, but I still haven't gotten round to it...

Yup, I'm familiar with him & I lurk on the really excellent listserv (i'm not an economic heavyweight, but boy is there some good stuff & debate on it - it's the best lefty forum I've come across - shhhh...).

Actually, I wish the list-serve would become a forum. I hate clogging my email just so I can be part of a conversation. But Henwood's radio show is must-hear, and I have a permanent link to his site...

twelve years pass...

@DougHenwood
The fascist threat is so great that we must vote for Hillary. The fascist threat is so weak that a vote for Hillary will crush it.

p sure Henwood has also said voting for Clinton is the only thing that makes any political sense in a contested state, although I'll have to track it down. I know Adolph Reed said as much on his show.

really don't get why folks rush to the Contested States caveat, when I expect there will be about six. Maybe fewer.

three years pass...

Well, it happened. I finally saw a Doug Henwood tweet outside of ILX.

(It was a reply to a Jeet Heer thread about Christopher Hitchens.)
