I've just returned from taking the dog for a walk, and I passed a horse chestnut tree or two. I have pockets stuffed with conkers now. Aren't they great?

Yep, it's that time of year again, where a young man's idle fancy turns to thoughts of walks on crisp Autumn days, and the pubs become chock-full of bloody students again....in answer to your question though yes, they're great.

conkers? what do you do with them? play like marbles sort of? as in, first person to hit spot 'x' or closest conker to spot 'y' type of thing?

You drill a hole in them and thread a string through. You let it hang and then take turns at hitting the opponets conker 'til it splits.
