This is a WHOLE THREAD for David R. to big up his new contribution to Pitchfork since I deleted it on a technicality from the Brief Lives thread.

Tom, Thursday, 27 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

However I should warn you David of the terrible fate of Ethan who crossed the tracks and now finds himself reduced to postcard-only communication.

A whole thread. And I didn't even have to START it. Gawrsh.

But, yeah, here I am, working my mojo. Right now, this is just a one-off thing (a piece submitted because of their "new writer" drive), but who knows?

Honestly, though, I figured naming Ida one of my Favorite Bands of the 90s would guarantee me a place in Pitchfork purgatory. (And I forgot about James Brown for my 60s list. Such a dolt I am.)

I think I'm paying right now, Tom - the secretary's radio is playing Shaggy's "It Wasn't Me". Damn them all to HELL.

David Raposa, Thursday, 27 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

And, yo, Mr. Moderator, there is an obvious 10+ word post on your regulated thread by Mr. Currie sitting there like a puss-tipped zit. Get thee deletin'!

David Raposa, Thursday, 27 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

side question: should i attempt to sub something to pitchfork?

not that i don't think i could get it picked up, but in that i am an ex-indie rocker turned disco, uh, queen...would my writing truly fit within a world where that basement jaxx review can be published? or would i be like rage against the machine...dismantling from the inside. ;)

jess, Thursday, 27 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Doesn't hurt to try, Jess. For all y'all, here's what you need to do.

David Raposa, Thursday, 27 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Dammit first of all everyone goes off to write for Everett True and now Raposa starts a Pitchfork recruitment drive! Vipers at my bosom! Write for Freaky Trigger instead!

(NB Momus' second post is legit because it's a side-post rather than one answering the qn thus is free of the limits)

Tom, Thursday, 27 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

ahem thomas, you'll be happy to know that i am currently preparing a piece for you and mssr. raggett ("the cold vein" vs. "the blueprint"), and if i DID end up writing for pitchfork, it would only be to sneak a review of a hi-nrg record in at some point. so no worries. ;)

jess, Thursday, 27 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My email is fucked but i would like to write from Freaky Trigger . It should be fixed by sunday if you can email me the specfics then ?

anthony, Thursday, 27 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i, of course, have written a piece on mercury rev that is off in ft- limbo. i am also reviewing several other projects.

fred solinger, Thursday, 27 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I, too, have an article floating with Fred's stuff in FT limbo. (Darn you, Nedward.) Believe you me, I'd be happy to write more for the Trig, if I could actually think of ideas & stuff that didn't strike me as ... well, silly.

Just like Quiz Kid Donnie Smith, I have lots of love to give. Fret you not, Tom.

David Raposa, Thursday, 27 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm too scared to attempt to write for anybody.

DG, Thursday, 27 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

looks like they miss out on my unique talent cos they only want people from the US. They'll be sorry.

Ronan, Thursday, 27 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

ronan, i'm sure it has to do with postage costs. use my addy and i'll post you the free cds. ;)

jess, Thursday, 27 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Listen, you complaining bastards, the articles *were* going to go up on Monday, only for me to find that once again I couldn't upload anything. So I duly mailed Mr. Ewing with my complaint, and he realized his error. The articles will be up tonight.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 27 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ned if you've got FTP you can delete all the shite yourself - it's in the /log folder next to the /docs one where the articles live. I dont mind you doing it, honestly! ;)

Tom, Thursday, 27 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

But what exactly is in there again, anyway?

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 27 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

BT Connect god bless it creates a daily log of traffic to my site, whether I want it to or not. It then counts this as part of my space allocation - thanks BT! When everyone was visiting Mike's MTV thing it meant I had to go in and delete it every day.

Tom, Thursday, 27 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

wow, if only the inner workings of rolling stone were laid this bare. ;)

jess, Thursday, 27 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ah, that's easy. Ask Fred for details. ;-)

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 27 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

the first song on 'hammers and anvils' is one of the best things ever. i really should get the album already.

keith, Thursday, 27 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You bet your ass you should own that album! And I dare say you'll love "Cole Porter" or "Mastercontrol" even more than the title track. I guarantee it!
