I have no idea quite what a fishing genius entails, and how you become one, and what makes one fisherman better than another (in a competetive sense, obviously).

he was world champion. Mind you Alan Scotthorne and Bob Nudd have both been world champion 4 times each, Bob's got an MBE but other than that any recognition? about two seconds on sports personality of the year. For shame.

I just remember sitting watching Tom fish many years ago and he was so efficient, so in tune with the fish it was like watching a fishing machine. And he seems like a nice bloke when he's on tight lines.

I could talk about this a lot more, no doubt to everyone's boredom, but I'm going home because I feel like shite

he must have been a fish whisperer.

More like jaw-dropping amazement.

Oh wait, there's boredom now.

A good fisherman knows where and when to fish, and what bait to use and so forth and consistently catches fish. But I wouldn't use the term "genius" to describe this. I think "master fishman" is a more appropraite term.

Jel has reduced me to tears.

I'm in the middle of complete emotional turmoil but this >> he was so efficient, so in tune with the fish it was like watching a fishing machine << has cheered me up a bit.

"Championship Bass Fishing" is a killer PS1 game

Lately I've been horribly depressed, as unfortunately I came in second in my fantasy fishing league.

Hey Andrew, now you know how I felt about all the comics threads ;o)

What I meant was theat watching Tom fish, he knew when to cut back on the feed, when to increase it going in, when to shallow up and fish up in the water. 90% of successful fishing is about decision making apparently.
