"did anyone stop to think that maybe what they think at any given moment regardless of merit isn't exactly worth wasting more server memory on?"

gabbo giftington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 19 September 2003 18:57 (twenty-two years ago)

"but, by all means, continue the 'wackiness'."

gabbo giftington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 19 September 2003 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha ha ha best post ever just for existing

I like that Jess thinks in scare quotes so we know not to take him seriously.

Sorry, "thinks." And "seriously."

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 19 September 2003 19:17 (twenty-two years ago)

tep, you're supposedly a writer, right? you do understand the concept of quotation marks vs. 'scare quotes', right?

gabbo giftington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 19 September 2003 19:25 (twenty-two years ago)

anyway, there is nothing i like better than ilx taking 5 minutes to load because someone feels the need to announce they just thought about scratching their ass, but hey, sue me.

gabbo giftington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 19 September 2003 19:26 (twenty-two years ago)

If you think it's bad now, wait til next week.

Nicolars (Nicole), Friday, 19 September 2003 19:32 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha i can't wait for that guardian article to run.

gabbo giftington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 19 September 2003 19:34 (twenty-two years ago)

C'mon, jess, it was a joke. But is there anything you're not going to hate on ILE today? Does this thread somehow magically tax the server more than any other?

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 19 September 2003 19:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Horace: if I can get a job without even applying for one here I'm sure there would be something for you, especially since you, unlike me, seem to be competent. New job: should be easy. New city: Winnipeg's pretty fuckin' hot right now. New haircut: Five Bill Phil, baby! Nothing more fun than having a crazy 80-year-old Ukrainian with shaky hands snap your lid!

I'm thinking it probably was a good idea to skip out of work a little early today.

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 19 September 2003 20:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm definitely not thinking about scratching my ass.

oops (Oops), Friday, 19 September 2003 20:15 (twenty-two years ago)

. . .that Jess should eat a bag of dicks.

A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Friday, 19 September 2003 20:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Wheat Thins are good. Wheat Thins are very good. Mmm Wheat Thins.

(note: A bag of dicks does not sound good at all.)

Legendary Nothingness (Dee the Lurker), Friday, 19 September 2003 20:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Triscuits totally trump Wheat Thins. Fite!

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 19 September 2003 20:19 (twenty-two years ago)

mmm dicks. . .

i like triscuits and wheat thins both.

A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Friday, 19 September 2003 20:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Ew! Triscuits texture is vile and their taste is even blander than Wheat Thins. Wheat Thins and Kaukauna cheese spread have been a staple of my diet since before I can remember.

oops (Oops), Friday, 19 September 2003 20:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Triscuits come in flavors now! I haven't tried them, but it's true. Roasted Garlic, and Creme Fraiche Delight, or some such thing.

They're a cracker meant for cheeses, though, it's true.

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 19 September 2003 20:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Last time I tried Triscuits was over 10 years ago, and I didn't particularly care for them. Must try them out again. But Wheat Thins... ooh. Need to find out where they sell the low sodium ones, though. The regular kind has a bit too much salt for my liking. Oh well -- one can fleck off the extra salt bits if one chooses, hm? As for cheese -- hm, found out a short while back I can actually like cheese if it's smoked! Hurrah for smoked cheese!

Legendary Nothingness (Dee the Lurker), Friday, 19 September 2003 20:24 (twenty-two years ago)

the garlic triscuit is supreme yummy. must buy some now. . .

A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Friday, 19 September 2003 20:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Speaking of crackers that now come in dif. flavors, Cheez-Its Cheddar Jack and Garlic Parmesan are gooood. I'm a bit scared of the Tabasco ones.

oops (Oops), Friday, 19 September 2003 20:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Clearly CheezIts win.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 19 September 2003 21:04 (twenty-two years ago)

And right now, I AM thinking about scratching my ass. JUST BECAUSE.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 19 September 2003 21:04 (twenty-two years ago)

i was at Trader Joes and i saw the package of coconut covered dates, my gramma's favorite. i actually reached for them, to mail them to her --and stopped my hand in midair because i remembered she was dead. it was like an automatic motion to reach for them. i can't stand dates, she is the only reason i would reach for them, and i don't see them very often so i was briefly elated at seeing them--the elation ended abruptly.

it made me sad.

Orbit (Orbit), Friday, 19 September 2003 23:06 (twenty-two years ago)

The Tabasco Cheez-Its rock. Tabasco themselves -- well, McIlhenny (McIlheny? It always looks wrong), the Tabasco company -- have some kind of cheese crackers out, but the Cheez-Its are better. They're really addictive. The spice is not super-hot -- I wish I could find those pretzel nuggets I used to get with the habanero; Chile Today, I think? New Mexico Chile company? something like that -- but that makes them very easily munchable, and you can always toss a little Dave's on there if you need the burn.

I love those little kitty pics, Ally!! They really did a good job in helping turn around that one particular thread from being a disaster into being something lighter. I don't mind if they're in lots of other places, either. I think we all need cute little posed kitty pics in our lives.

More thoughts:

I wish I could sleep for a billion years. I know certain prayers are getting answered at the moment, but I wish certain other prayers would get answered as well. I wish I could find a rather good appointment time for something I need to do (J.Girl knows what I'm talking about) so I can actually do it. I wish so many things....

The shitty thing about praying for just one day without thinking about Patrick Swayze's "She's Like The Wind," is that there's really no way to appreciate it when it happens.

Where in the hell is my hairbrush? Why does it always walk away just when I want it? I mean, when I don't want it, it's always laying around somewhere, kicking back, taking-up valuable horizontal space so other shit can't get stacked there. And it's only when I actually need the damn thing that it slithers off. It's all part of the plot.

Oh.

It was under a stack of books.

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Friday, 26 September 2003 11:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Aw, they yanked the piccie. New piccie!

http://deanna.ladyinterference.com/ilx/pnrwcclothes.jpg

I hope no one recognizes this. *laughs* Not like people don't already know how predictable I am. Ok, what's up with what Kingfish posted? Is that what he was really thinking at the time? Or was he being snarky? If so, who was he being snarky to? I'm lost. Not like it'd be hard to be lost at this time in the morning. I can't believe I overslept. I need to be more disciplined. Ok, so I have San Antonio as a Friendster. Yay. I hope whomever's doing it approves my testimonial. It pretty much summarizes all my feelings about this place. Hm, I think I should skip breakfast today so I can have lunch. Hm.

Legendary Nothingness (Dee the Lurker), Friday, 26 September 2003 11:37 (twenty-two years ago)

note, i am not snarky. i post stupid pictures.

And if I don't hurt her,

So I'll not pull her tail,
Nor drive her away,
But pussy and I,
Very gently will play.

That Mother Goose was one kinky lady!

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Friday, 26 September 2003 13:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Well then, Kingfish, go right ahead and keep it up. :)

Oh good, San Antonio approved the testimonial I left it. It reads:

Ahh, San Antonio. I love you and hate you at the same time. You are an absolutely inescapable part of my identity, as I've lived within your borders for all but four of my years. I am constantly frustrated by your limitations, yet at the same time I don't know what I'd do without you. I have been to your schools, your supermarkets (usually H-E-B), your bookstores, your Tex-Mex hangouts. I've even weathered the storm of the condescending 09er just so I could have possibly the best sushi in the world (Koi Kawa, don't you know). I can't get S.A. out of my blood. Damn you for being so much a part of me.

And in other thoughts... I can't believe I made it through today. Today was just about the longest day in my entire life. I'm seriously hoping nothing happens tonight and I can have a relaxing evening. A night like the day I had today would be nightmarish.

I'm wondering what I used to post to ILX, and why I can't think of anything much to say anymore. Or maybe I just said nothing much more often. Oh well. I'm also thinking it's weird to be back at university again. And, I'm glad that it rained. It's October, I'm glad about this as well.

"The overworked and equally dubious motto 'Peace Through Understanding' is curiously reflected by one of the more frightening exhibits, the underground home, sponsored by the Underground World Home Corporation. The pamphlet given to each paying visitor notes that 'the Underground Home is . . . protected from the ravages of nature, the physical and psychological assaults caused by our industrialized society and the population explosion . . . but most of all, it offers the average man the proverbial island unto himself. The utmost in security (it) lessens the likelihood of human intruders, protection from storms of all types; is impervious to nuclear fallout.'"

Are you surprised Kate? Or was the title 'Fame Academy is shit'? Now then I would be surprised is nobody answered!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 08:00 (twenty-two years ago)

How is Fame Academy more shit than Big Brother? And how many threads were there about Big Brother? Or Pop Idol? Etc?

Why is HSA so formal in his emails? He almost never emails me. That's weird.

kate (kate), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 09:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I found your thread yesterday Kate, I added a post that says 'Dammit, found this thread too late'. I rarely visit ILM and for some reason it didn't occur to me that a Fame Academy thread would appear there rather than here. Oh well.

Apparently some dictionary compilers include made-up words so that if another publisher copies their definitions, they can prove the plagarism. Today I am thinking: "What are these words?".

Alfie (Alfie), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 09:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I am thinking that I have never been interested in "Reality Programs" especially "Reality Music Programs" in the slightest until they started including token indie kids to appeal to my demographic. And then one of the token indie kids won. Ha ha!

Oh my god I am part of a demographic that wins TV gameshow mentality popularity contests. Shoot me now.

Oh, and there was a book about map-makers that employed the same technique, Alfie.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 9 October 2003 07:09 (twenty-two years ago)

WHY WILL THIS BLOODY THING JUST NOT WORK?!?!?

(And why is this database so clumbsy that it takes 20 minutes to run a report? I bet that has something to do with HOW FREAKING LONG IT'S PROBABLY BEEN SINCE ANYONE RE-INDEXED IT!!!!!!!!)
