This reminds me of the time my professor nominated herself for an academic award that was named after her.

Nicolars (Nicole), Thursday, 25 September 2003 16:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I nominated myself for Media Person of the Year at the Westo Cdn Music Awardes.
I didn't make the shortlist. But I had my acceptance speech written, thanking myself for obviously knowing a winner when I see it.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 25 September 2003 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

i thought he was dead? he's not dead? isn't he dead?

Nellie (nellskies), Thursday, 25 September 2003 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Edward Said is dead. Charlton Heston is still among us. Winning awards.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 25 September 2003 16:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I like Charlton Heston alot, but it seems a bit odd to name an acting award after him (you'd think maybe Katharine Hepburn with her passing so recently)

cinniblount (James Blount), Thursday, 25 September 2003 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm surprised to read he was involved in civil rights marches during the sixties

robin (robin), Thursday, 25 September 2003 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, i 'm always getting Mike Hanley Awards, but why wouldn't eye?

Mike Hanle y (mike), Friday, 26 September 2003 02:20 (twenty-two years ago)

The Hollywood actor, 79, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, received the award at his home on Tuesday.
Which means he won an award, and has to ask himself... "Who was this guy the award was named after? What did he do to deserve getting an award named after him?"

cinniblount (James Blount), Friday, 26 September 2003 23:28 (twenty-two years ago)

RJG (RJG), Friday, 26 September 2003 23:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Heston wants to be more like Ronald Reagan. Thats all.

hilarious! know any aids jokes?
I can't tell if you rebuffing me for being heartless or if you're genuinely trying to egg me on to be tasteless.
Look. My comment wasn't aimed as an insult towards anyone who has been debilitated by Alzheimers. But it *is* a crack on Heston.
Heston always got on my nerves. I haven't put my finger on why yet. But he just does.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 27 September 2003 00:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, it beats winning the Cockburn award, I suppose.
