The thing is, the catholic church will continue to use you as a faceless stat when they say they are speaking for the catholics of the world. When they condemn usage of preservatives, abortion, equality between sexes etc, it's in your name that it speak. When it refuses any social evolution, it's in your name that it speak, etc...for those born christian without desiring it, debaptisation is the way to go to clear things up.

I'm sure I'm one of the many baptised catholics who doesn't practice because I disagree with the organised religion, but can't quite bring myself to say that I don't believe that there is a God. And to me that's what debaptisation is saying.
Putting it another way, just because I don't believe in many of the teachings of the catholic faith doesn't mean that I can make the huge leap and become debaptised.
