I've just seen pictures of both of them and they look quite similar. I don't like either of them, but maybe other people can be more say why one is better than the other.

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Monday, 29 September 2003 12:15 (twenty-two years ago)

that was meant to say "be more illuminating and say why one is better than the other"

Dworkin roxx. And I'm not even gay.

Man, you've been listening to too much dancehall!

There was that weird article Dworkin wrote in the Guardian about getting raped in Paris. When I read it, it didn't ring true at all and people have since gone into print questioning whether it ever happened.

I dunno, can't say I'm much of a fan of either. I read 'Possession', it didn't grab me much.

Franz Kafka, Monday, 29 September 2003 12:43 (twenty-two years ago)

by dworkin's line of reasoning it doesn't matter whether the story was true or not, simply because it could have happened...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Monday, 29 September 2003 12:50 (twenty-two years ago)

was Dworkin the one that talked about how all sex was rape, or was that MacKinnon?

Kingfish (Kingfish), Monday, 29 September 2003 12:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Andrea Dworkin likes Buffy!

I likedIntercourse and Heartbreak, they were good reads.

Possession is a dreadful novel and contains some of the worst "good" writing ever. so whoever Andrea Dworkin is she is better.

ryan (ryan), Monday, 29 September 2003 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I think Andrea Dworkin is the route of a lot of evil (see also my post on "Do women like to be dominated?").

I get really really sick of that 'woman as victim, only women bleed' branch of feminsim. If feminsim wants to continue achieving any practical goals (equal pay, end to discrimination, right to choose, protection from rape and assult) then surely all women should pull together and celebrate what it is to be female? I think Dworkin and others like her have led to a lot of women thinking feminism isn't for them because they like men, they enjoy heterosexual sex. These things shouldn't be stigmatised. Andrea Dworkin - definate dud.

AS Byatt on the other hand: I quite like Possession and The Djinn In The Nightingale's Eye. classic in a mild way.

Anna (Anna), Monday, 29 September 2003 15:04 (twenty-two years ago)

and it's female to be dominated right ?

byatt lookes funny in the author photo on the hardcover of babel tower - it's like she's trying to hide her increasing double chin(s). her previous author photos present her looking regal and thinner.

DWORKIN DWORKIN DWORKIN

thom west (thom w), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 12:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 13:02 (twenty-two years ago)

it's really fun to type

thom west (thom w), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 13:07 (twenty-two years ago)

the fact that dworkin is a demented pseudo-fascist doesn't stop her from being a lot more interesting than byatt. plus dworkin has a better name: people who use their initials drive me crazy.
