This Wednesday - Horse And Groom, Great Portland St, no special reason or anything, just because I've nothing on this week. Who's in?

Also TONIGHT I need to go to the Fitzroy Tavern to pay them the hire fee for this -

London ILX Wedding Party FAP - Details

- so if anyone fancies a quick pint or two I'll be up for it.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 29 September 2003 13:30 (twenty-two years ago)

The joy of being Tom Ewing of Tom Ewing's Network of Sites (TENOS for short) is that you know someone will come along and dutifully paste up the appropriate link to show people the pub you've unilaterally nominated as the FAP Venue.

The Horse and Groom is on Great Portland Street and let me say now so I don't have to on the night that I saw the Manic Street Preachers play there once:

Tim (Tim), Monday, 29 September 2003 13:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Blimey Tom, I'm meeting my chum there tonight about 6ish so I'll see you there! NB he is a GOFF if anyone else wants to come along for pointing and laughing opportunities!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 29 September 2003 13:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Wooooo SPOOKY coincidence no?

Tom (Groke), Monday, 29 September 2003 13:47 (twenty-two years ago)

It must have been that HP Lovecraft book I was reading this morning exerting it's spooky powerzzz. Oh no!! The DOOR!!! The HANDLE!!! Ect!!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 29 September 2003 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

toby (tsg20), Monday, 29 September 2003 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Having just this minute seen this, I don't think I can make tonight. Wednesday is more than likely on. I cannot predict my exact arrival time as I am on a training course that day, but I'm sure we'll cope.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 29 September 2003 20:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm up for Weds. Might well be my first sober FAP.

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 07:48 (twenty-two years ago)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Might do...

Dave B (daveb), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 15:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't make either, sadly, but might be around for frolics next week. Have fun!

Erm, Dave, shouldn't you be at AFCW vs Chessington United tomorrow night?

Mark C (Mark C), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 15:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Tonight is my only chance for a QNI in the next YEAR (well, week) so no... mustn't.... can't. Wouldn't mind though. No!

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

haha, well i'll stick my head in the Glasshouse in about 2 and a half hours and hopefully i will see someone i recognise in there. there's Champions League football to be watched tho so may hunt down a pub with TVs if no-one's in the Glasshouse by 8

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 15:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I posted this on the Carey thread but hey....

I will be visiting wonderful Milton Keynes on business this weekend (oh joy....). I'm not sure of the travelling time/distance, especially worried about the intricacies of getting back to Milton Keynes in a drunken state...but if anyone wants to meet up for a wee pint or two this weekend, please shout out....

smee (smee), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 15:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I might pop into the Glasshouse. I mean whats the worst that could happen eh.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 15:20 (twenty-two years ago)

that's the spirit(s)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 15:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Smee, I'd normally be keen to meet you, but I expect to spend pretty much this entire weekend at a friend's place.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 08:19 (twenty-two years ago)

so are we still going for a pint tonight then?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 08:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Why would we not be?

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 08:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, I am.

Ricardo (RickyT), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 08:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Me too but I will be along in a Gareth kind of fashion (ie late).

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 08:25 (twenty-two years ago)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 08:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm coming too.

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 08:34 (twenty-two years ago)

i will be there sometime between six and seven, i guess (it is october = first london number theory seminar of term = i have to go over to king's to listen to a talk on `Twisted Zeta-Functions, Stark Conjectures and Hilbert Symbols' = i will be gagging for a pint).

toby (tsg20), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 09:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Or several I should imagine Toby!!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 09:24 (twenty-two years ago)

(heh toby I went to a maths seminar at king's last night called "Genetics and Insurance" about the possible creation of an uninsurable underclass. I hope yours is as interestingly weird!)

Sam (chirombo), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 09:30 (twenty-two years ago)

might drop by if only to explain to Tom just what the hell is hapening with my 'drugs' epic

dave q, Wednesday, 1 October 2003 09:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I could be persuaded.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 09:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 10:12 (twenty-two years ago)

so, i was looking a that FAP link for tonight, which led to wondering what pub this link:

http://www.fancyapint.com/thepubs/pub1.htm

would represent, and i was pleasantly surprised...

oh, me = early obv. i've been here since half past c0cking 8 so even if i walk i'll be there SO first ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 10:32 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.fancyapint.com/thepubs/pub28.htm, how about this one for a future FAP, it's Sam Smiths so I ought to be opposed but it looks very nice, I walked by it on monday.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 10:38 (twenty-two years ago)

The first day of my training course finished at 5, so if today's does the same, which I expect, I'll be there before 6. Anyone know just where it is on Great Portland Street, i.e. a nearby cross street, so that I don't have to start at one end.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 11:12 (twenty-two years ago)

yet another one I'll miss . Why do I have so much *stuff to do*. I have about 2 bloody evenings free from now until the beginning of December ,and it's not fun stuff either - mainly work and college, college and work....

When I finish this course (Dec 3!) and get this wretched product launch done (January) I will FAP every day! Of course you lot will have all forgotten all about me by then ....

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 11:21 (twenty-two years ago)

It's a little bit more than halfway up Gt Portland St from Oxford Circus as I recall, Martin. Try New Cavendish St maybe?

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 11:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Toby seems to be doing a PhD on "Naming Conventions in Prog Rock".

Mark C (Mark C), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 12:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I understand exactly what Toby was saying. Don't you go down the Maths = Geek = Prog Rock line. There's more of us than you. And we have slide rules.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 13:20 (twenty-two years ago)

(and giant pulsating branes (that we keep in our backpacks))

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 13:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah, that explains a lot. (Off to Baker Street Lost Property dept to se eif anyone has handed in a backpack full of pulsating BRANE).

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 13:47 (twenty-two years ago)

i feel unreasonably ok considering the six pints i drank last night. i think i may have talked about the magnetic fields at rather greater length than i should have, though.

toby (tsg20), Thursday, 2 October 2003 07:12 (twenty-two years ago)

23rd october for karaoke, then?

toby (tsg20), Thursday, 2 October 2003 07:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I really should know by now that hiccups are nature's way of telling you to go home.

Ricardo (RickyT), Thursday, 2 October 2003 07:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Who is this "Dr C"?

the pinefox, Thursday, 2 October 2003 08:31 (twenty-two years ago)

some boring old fart who never goes out. And he listens to prog rock.

a well-wisher (Dr. C), Thursday, 2 October 2003 09:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Matt DC didn't arrive and I had a CD for him. I was most upset.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 2 October 2003 10:10 (twenty-two years ago)
