it's either going to be very very good (there's a spot open that a few people today alone have asked me if I was applying for), very very bad (I had a big public argument about 10 days ago with a colleague with more seniority who just happens to be said boss's v. good buddy) or something really trivial ("hey, horace, can we order more red pens?").

Actually it wound up being much ado about not much. It was basically one of those meetings where the bosses merely flex their managerial muscles and say that you're doing a good job while subtly letting you know that they're still better than you.

I was sort of disappointed. I really need to find a new job and if I'd been fired, well, I'd have a little more incentive.
