TS: Bathroom vs Toilet

I think toilet is more logical. What's the point of calling it a bathroom if you can't take a bath there?

because it's proper to make no reference to the sick and disgusting bodily functions that happen there.
bathroom is a clean word, toilet is shitty

"Loo"

Bathroom, of course. Cause its a wonderful room filled with many things you can do: fix your hair, read a book, adjust your pantyhose, floss, play with bubbles. Of course you can take a bath there! Or are you trying to differentiate between the type of bathrooms that have showers/tubs and those that don't? The "bath" part implies the healing-cleansing aura of the space. "Toilet" is ridiculous. You wouldn't call a family room "chair" or something, would you?

"pisser"

Kingfish (Kingfish), Thursday, 2 October 2003 18:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I really hate 'restroom'... I'm not resting, I'm peeing!

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 2 October 2003 18:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I like saying 'the little DJs room' occasionally. Obv insert your own occupation where appropriate.

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 2 October 2003 18:39 (twenty-one years ago)

but for men, it is a restroom. it's like a day-spa.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 2 October 2003 18:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Also, TS: "I'm gonna go to the bathroom" vs. "I'm gonna go take a piss"

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 2 October 2003 18:42 (twenty-one years ago)

vs. "I'm off to wank."

Chris P (Chris P), Thursday, 2 October 2003 19:58 (twenty-one years ago)

"Toilet" comes from the idea that it is where you'd groom yourself. Only later did it become synonymous with the commode. (Although I think "commode" has a similarly tangled history.)

Annouschka Magnatech (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 2 October 2003 20:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I'd prefer "restroom" to either of the titular aforementioned in reference to a public facility, and "bathroom" overall when talking about a room in the home where one can do a variety of things, things I'm fairly certain I don't need to list.

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Thursday, 2 October 2003 20:37 (twenty-one years ago)

"sorry, suzuki's wang cannot come at the mo' for it is resting in the toilet"

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Thursday, 2 October 2003 20:43 (twenty-one years ago)

depends on the situation, it is vitally important to get these things right, one wrong move and I would be disgusted so I treat others the same.
