Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 2 October 2003 18:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I dreamt once I was having hot nasty sex with one of the guys I work with. And not in a good way. It still makes my skin crawl.

Otherwise, no, not really.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 2 October 2003 18:36 (twenty-two years ago)

When I was a waiter, I did quite often. The endless weeds scenario, where I can never catch up, the restaurant's a funhouse, and I keep discovering new tables I didn't know about.

I still get them every once in a while.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Thursday, 2 October 2003 18:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I like my job but I have bad dreams about it. Most recently (like two nights ago) I dreamed I had a screaming fight with one of my employees.

Does anyone have good dreams about their job?

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 2 October 2003 18:36 (twenty-two years ago)

No.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Thursday, 2 October 2003 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't have a job; thus I don't dream.

Getting into the swing of grad school, I've been dreaming about probability theory and randomized algorithms for a few weeks now. Its not so bad, though it would be nice if my proofs still worked after I wake up.

Barss (Jaacob), Friday, 3 October 2003 00:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Always always always. The kids never leave my mind. Not good or bad, just constant and foremost in my mind.

one time i spent hours looking for the perfect font. i was told by my wife that i woke up in the middle of the night pulling up the covers and looking at my feet. she asked what i was doing. i said, "looking for fonts, i know they're down there"

If I'm doing this it usually means that I'm either working too many hours, getting too stressed out, or just plain sick. The best time was when I was working at a fish and chip place, still new on the job, and I caught chicken pox. In the middle of the first night I was dreaming that I was just working away - picking up pieces of fish and chips with metal tongs and plunking them onto styrofoam plates, but I must have been running a very high fever and started to shiver uncontrollably in my sleep. Damn if this didn't mean that the food kept falling off the plates because of my unsteady hands! All night!

When I was a web designer I would sometime have dreams that were nothing but a computer screen and html being written. :(

A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Friday, 3 October 2003 01:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I still have dreams about video games. I wish that were my job.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Friday, 3 October 2003 01:52 (twenty-two years ago)

unfortunately yes. The big mistake is to then go into work and tell your colleagues that you've dreamed about work. I did this a couple of times and got a chorus of "how sad!". Mind you, the dreams about work are never straightforward...ppl who are not from my work always turn up in the office in my dreams and there are usually physical differences between the dream office and the real one, like for instance the dream where it was only possible to get from one end of the office to the other by crawling through tunnels in a series of giant breezeblocks.

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 3 October 2003 08:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Very occasionally. Either they're dreams about being horrifically kate or things otherwise going wrong (during stressful times), or sex dreams about coworkers (even rarer, very bad).

Archel (Archel), Friday, 3 October 2003 08:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Er. Horrifically LATE...

Archel (Archel), Friday, 3 October 2003 08:51 (twenty-two years ago)

maybe Kate dreams about being horrifically Archel!

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 3 October 2003 08:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I do, never good & bad, it just features in there sometimes!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 3 October 2003 08:57 (twenty-two years ago)

the last dream about work involved my manager from about three jobs ago being there, in the bright red cagoule which he always wore. This was the manager who made David Brent look good.

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 3 October 2003 08:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I sometimes dream that my old job is coming back to GET me.

adaml (adaml), Friday, 3 October 2003 09:00 (twenty-two years ago)

i dremt my sister was leading a community singsong at the notting hill carnival: the shouted chorus — which all present bellowed w.tremendous vim — wz "WE ARE TATUINE!!"

mark s (mark s), Friday, 3 October 2003 09:04 (twenty-two years ago)

How's the book coming on Mark??

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 3 October 2003 09:09 (twenty-two years ago)

actually now I think about it, the first dream about work I ever had was when I was at my first job In Oxford. I was in the corridor looking out of the window, except that the view out of the window wasn't what should have been there, instead it was a tropical beach in twilight and I watched as a parachutist landed on the beach. Then I went upstairs to the office, which for some reason was in semi-darkness. Seated at one of the desks was an old school friend of mine, gazing intently at the computer screen. When I went round to see what was on the computer I saw that he was playing a game.

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 3 October 2003 09:26 (twenty-two years ago)

i had a nightmare about a double-no-hitter on monday night, and i woke up in a sweat. and then i got annoyed with myself for having such a fucking literal dream, i mean, really.

maura (maura), Friday, 3 October 2003 09:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 3 October 2003 12:23 (twenty-two years ago)

dreaming IS my job

duane, Friday, 3 October 2003 15:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, usually right as I'm falling to sleep I'll have annoying thoughts of having to get something done--it's always more stressful and frantic in my dreams than IRL.

oops (Oops), Friday, 3 October 2003 15:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I think last night I dreamt of copyediting, ho-hum. It paled in comparison to the previous night's dream, where I met Tony Randall.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 3 October 2003 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Is there more to the dream than that? What was the situation?

oops (Oops), Friday, 3 October 2003 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)
