i love dragging out the quilt for winter but this year i think i capitulated too early

jones (actual), Saturday, 4 October 2003 13:04 (twenty-one years ago)

it's been very mild here so far, heating hasn't gone on yet

Ed (dali), Saturday, 4 October 2003 13:05 (twenty-one years ago)

When did duvets become the thing that everybody has? They're kind of troublesome. What's wrong with, I dunno, a bunch of wool blankets or whatever? I mean, I love duvets but putting the covers on them makes me feel like a clumsy child.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Saturday, 4 October 2003 13:09 (twenty-one years ago)

It's quite chilly today Ed.

v.gallo: "I've paid a heavy price in aggravation and cash to invent my aesthetic world. For example, it would be nice to have a big puffy down comforter on my bed. They're so goddamned warm. And my New York apartment is goddamned cold. However, they're too fucking puffy. I made a beautiful iron bed frame. It has tiny pink roses painted on it. It's very subtle, utilitarian. It requires a very flat, thin, gray Amish blanket to have its full effect. So I freeze at night, but when I look at the bed during the day, it's perfect."

(ha trife i meant "[island where they had the scarface-dvd-release party the other weekend]" only i forget where that was now)

jones (actual), Saturday, 4 October 2003 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

(oh god if i've somehow just introduced race to the blanket thread, kill me now)

jones (actual), Saturday, 4 October 2003 14:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Is that a black eye? Clever.

I got it in my head yesterday that I wanted to take up quilting, despite having never owned a sewing machine.

Hawaiian quilts are beautiful:

we have a little fleece blanket that really only covers one person (and only if you're small like me), it's really just for covering your legs while you're on the sofa. Mr teeny calls it our special teams blanket.

I've recently been introduced to Doonas. They're nice. They're also fun when the cat is having to fight The Doona Monster who lives underneath and looks a lot like my hand.
