Or maybe he's saying that his repeated upstaging of those around him made people resentful and contributed to a film industry conspiracy against him.

Or maybe 'better than most of the people around him' and the absolute quality of Sid James's performances (not that high) are both constants and so to put him in better roles would create a logical paradox and space-time would fold in on itself.

didn't see last nights profile but have seen other episodes in the 'heroes of comedy' series. Usually directors will cut interviews in a way which allows the talking head to say (at certain times) one phrase and then the switch it to the next talking head.
