dud

anthony, Saturday, 29 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

the last thing i really wanna see is a little forest of blackheads on a lil white strip.

jess, Saturday, 29 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

But think about how those blackheads INFEST YOUR NOSE and clot up air passages and turn that object on your face into a withering, festering collection of scabby dried-up oil and pulsating, dying bacteria.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 29 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Was that the science bit? : )

Ronan, Saturday, 29 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I don't have blackheads even though I ride a bike in polluted air while wearing titanium dioxide sunblock. Alls ya gotta do is *exfoliate*. Either that, or use a hot (non-scalding) washcloth when you get home.

Kerry, Saturday, 29 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

what if the littel worms of black filth have dug in too deep for that Kerry my dear?

Mike Hanle y, Saturday, 29 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Every time I use a pore strip I just come out disappointed. There are never any big time black heads lurking, so instead I make my dad use one. His are always way more entertaining.

Mandee, Saturday, 29 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

you're gross

Mike Hanle y, Sunday, 30 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

what is Biore?

jel, Sunday, 30 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

pore strips..to take grime off you're face and prevent outbreaks. never used um tho

kevin enas, Sunday, 30 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I ain't never seen them do anything for anyone, I think they are full of shit when they say they do that.

Ally, Sunday, 30 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The biore is full fo shit when you're done

Mike Hanle y, Monday, 1 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

two years pass...
I love Biore. If I don't get the "forest" I feel cheated.
I like these and Q-tips.
I use these products on family members as a sign of affection. The dog doesn't like it.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 20:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I always feel cheated though! And you have nicer skin than me--how on earth do you get the "forest"?

Allyzay, Wednesday, 5 November 2003 20:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, there's plenty of forest in there, believe.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 20:53 (twenty-two years ago)

There was a five-minute period where I thought I might get addicted to these things. Then the wife ran out of them and we decided not to buy any more.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 20:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I know this is gross, but I like petting the forest, too.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 20:54 (twenty-two years ago)

(Stealing your wife's beauty products because you're bored: C/D?)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 20:54 (twenty-two years ago)

take a picture of your forest. am curious.

Dean Gulberry (deangulberry), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 20:55 (twenty-two years ago)

petting the forest

you know what THAT'S code for!

Annouschka (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 20:55 (twenty-two years ago)

There's a trick to getting the strip wet and applying it properly. I like their self-heating masks. When I'm mad at myself I'll put one on after shaving.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 20:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I like that too, felicity. It is a totally disgusting and horrible obsession. I stare at it endlessly too. I used to have an ex with really bad skin so I'd make him do it and then I'd stare at it for like a half hour and wonder what in the world was going on there. But it never works for me!

Allyzay, Wednesday, 5 November 2003 20:56 (twenty-two years ago)

you know what THAT'S code for!

TART

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 20:57 (twenty-two years ago)

This thread is proof that Mike is the best of all posters.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 20:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Ally, I guess your pores are just too small to grow a forest. You're lucky.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 20:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Bryan, I like how you deal with self-anger by using a Biore product. It is nice we are talking about our weird OCD behavior here. Thank you, Mike.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 20:59 (twenty-two years ago)

But they AREN'T, have you seen my CHIN? Jesus it is like Garbage Pail Kid skin lately. I guess it's just not on my nose. I feel left out and still you have much nicer skin than me so it makes no sense.

Why would putting on the mask be good only if you are angry? Does it calm you?

Allyzay, Wednesday, 5 November 2003 20:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Well Felicity, I always try to make a positive out of a negative.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Thank you everyone for making me feel better about cleaning my dog's ears with Q-tips.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I used to do that to the cat. We'd have to swaddle him in blankets and only have his head stick out and then clean his dirty little ears. Ugh, they were so nasty too.

Not my cat I have now, mind you, his ears seem clean.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Would you name your daughter Biore?

Aaron A., Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:05 (twenty-two years ago)

i used to have dreams as an adolescent of being able to step out of the outer layers of epidermis where the zit action occurs and be able to vacuum out or shave the disturbances from the inside.

when i learned of biore, i was like Dan P., intrigued at first but eventually lost interest when the free sample in the mail was exhausted.

after coming back from lunch, felicity's petting post made my stomach do a full turn (which is rare). congratulations, you almost made me puke!

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:06 (twenty-two years ago)

worst thread ever

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Noxzema would be a good name.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Someone would probably name their daughter Biore, I mean there's someone named Nivea out there for fuck's sake. "Would you name your child Noxzema?"

HAHA xpost

Allyzay, Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Ally, your skin looks really good but they have "face strips" now if you want to try the chin or the forehead. I get good forests out of those sometimes, too.

Don't even get me started on the eye crust of strange dogs.

Why thank you, gygax! Which part? The petting?

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:07 (twenty-two years ago)

"felicity's petting post" Duh.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:08 (twenty-two years ago)

the eye crust of strange dogs
Wasn't that the name of a Brian Eno song?

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Ugh animal eye crust, that's really gross stuff, my mom's Boston Terrier gets eye crust all over now, not just in the corners and it's really gross and when I'm there I try to clean him up a bit but it never quite works out, it just grows back.

I'm going to try this "face strip" that you speak of!

Allyzay, Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I've gotta agree with gygax; that was one of the most disgusting things I've ever read.

Sean (Sean), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Thank you.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think it was so gross but OTOH I have forcibly pinned down someone and popped a zit on their face before. :/

Allyzay, Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:12 (twenty-two years ago)

felicity,

please keep in mind the time-sensitivity of us on the west coast prior to making such posts in the future.

kthxbye,

gygax!

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:12 (twenty-two years ago)

popping other people's back blackheads = MAXIMUM FUN

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:13 (twenty-two years ago)

After 2+ years of having to look at dick and ball jokes, the women exact their revenge.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm so glad Bryan sees things our way.

I remember when I was a bit younger and had to go to gym class, I was a bit jealous of people who had blackheads cos they looked a bit fun to extract. I am sorry now that I was jealous (my skin problems were quite late blooming) BUT I still think extraction is fun. I will have terribly pocked skin when I am old, I am sure, because isn't it against the rules to do that?

Allyzay, Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Isn't it half of what dermatologists do everyday?

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, popping and extraction is actually fine if you keep the area clean and sterilized. Scarring occurs because of infection setting in.

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Well in that case, guess what I'm doing tonight!!!!

Allyzay, Wednesday, 5 November 2003 21:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Not a very substantial forest, and my chin still has many blackheads. Maybe you need to show me proper face strip procedure, felicity.

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Thursday, 6 November 2003 04:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, I was wondering where the petting the forest post was from. I too engage in this. I think I bought the S.O. some biore strips but I always got a much nicer forest out of it. It depends on the weather though.

Carey (Carey), Thursday, 6 November 2003 04:46 (twenty-two years ago)

At least no one has scanned and enlarged their 'forests' yet.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Thursday, 6 November 2003 04:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Is there a technique to master? I can get a much better Vegemite thru Vitawheats effect by giving my nose a little squeeze.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Thursday, 6 November 2003 05:00 (twenty-two years ago)

This was the best thread we've ever had.

Allyzay Subservient 50s-Type (allyzay), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 04:21 (twenty years ago)

It is a fine day when we can gross out the menfolk :)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 04:50 (twenty years ago)

I gave up on Biore though, their products never did anything for me! I never, ever, not once got a forest :(

Allyzay Subservient 50s-Type (allyzay), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 04:58 (twenty years ago)

I've never tried em!

Man, now my face is feeling all dirrty.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 05:02 (twenty years ago)

Anyone hit the mirror with post-squirt pimple-ball? Best experience ever.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 05:11 (twenty years ago)

Also I need a facial so desperately.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 05:11 (twenty years ago)

i can't afford facials so i use those biore thingies about once a fortnight. although i don't really get blackheads so i'm not sure if they do any good. placebo effect maybe.

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 05:15 (twenty years ago)

I do all of these things and this thread still makes me feel ill

Nellie (nellskies), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 12:21 (twenty years ago)

im wondering if it'd help to exfoliate before using the biore in order to take of all that dead skin which is covering everything up. you'd probably open up the pores and also make the adhesion of the "c-bond" a lot better.

that fucking forest is awesome. i like petting it too.

AaronK (AaronK), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 17:10 (twenty years ago)

I never got a forest either. I might as well have used duct tape. I have some peel-off nose pore unclogger mask from the Body Shop. It doesn't work either. The only time I don't have any blackheads is during the summer when I'm at the beach. The combination of sun and salt water does the trick. Too bad it's not lasting. My pores fill up faster than a fat man at a donut stand.

Je4nne Ć’ury (Jeanne Fury), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 17:33 (twenty years ago)

i want the korean ear cleaning spoon before i fly next

kephm, Tuesday, 29 March 2005 17:43 (twenty years ago)

one month passes...
OK my new thing is this product

http://www.drugstore.com/qxp138144_333181_sespider/loreal_dermo_expertise/renoviste_glycolic_peel_kit.htm

I have used it ONCE and it already seems to have done magic on my face (sun damage + smoking starting to show on my forehead). So now this is the thread to discuss these weird at-home versions of dermatologist/plastic surgeon office only products, like the microdermabrasion home kits and acid peels.

Allyzay is not appropriate for freedom (allyzay), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 21:18 (twenty years ago)

seriously biore ain't got SHIT on skin-eating acid.

Allyzay is not appropriate for freedom (allyzay), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 21:19 (twenty years ago)

NOOO, DON'T REVIVE THIS!!!!

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 21:21 (twenty years ago)

dude gygax you love it.

Allyzay is not appropriate for freedom (allyzay), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 21:22 (twenty years ago)

catchy product name there

()ops (()()ps), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 21:22 (twenty years ago)

it sounds like the title of a Stereolab song.

Allyzay is not appropriate for freedom (allyzay), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 21:27 (twenty years ago)

OHhhhhh!!! I want this.

h0t h0t h0rsey (Carey), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 21:35 (twenty years ago)

I will get you a box as a housewarming present!

Allyzay is not appropriate for freedom (allyzay), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 21:37 (twenty years ago)

though not a weird dermatologist-at-home product, i enjoy biore face wash with the tiny green balls in it. i don't know what they are but sometimes i find one in my hair or hidden inside my ear. fun!

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 21:37 (twenty years ago)

i sometimes wonder what I would look like if I botoxed the fuck out of my face. this is how dedicated I can be to Halloween.

h0t h0t h0rsey (Carey), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 21:39 (twenty years ago)

i think that once i quit smoking i'm going to go to the DOCTOR'S OFFICE and get a real super strength peel and teeth bleaching and various other HOLLYWOOD TREATMENTS, as a reward to myself.

maybe i will go hog wild and get enormous breast implants and collegen lips too.

Allyzay is not appropriate for freedom (allyzay), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 21:41 (twenty years ago)

my friend went to Coney Island last weekend to check it out for the first time. I had told him all about the Shoot the Freak game and about the freak that runs around. He was very disappointed that the freak was just some dude with padding. I said yes, it would have been much better if he had had a huge lobster claw. Ally, you should get a lobster claw.

h0t h0t h0rsey (Carey), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 21:44 (twenty years ago)

what about that new thing from Japan called SKII. Like, how that found that dudes who work in sake plants have the youngest looking hands from touching sake and so they made a formula from sake and rice and whatever else. I am going to start lying about my age right now.

h0t h0t h0rsey (Carey), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 21:46 (twenty years ago)

I wonder if they have perfected the surgery yet, to turn a person into a mermaid. Cos I'd get that.

xpost I'm just going to drink a lot of sake. Not for health, though.

Allyzay is not appropriate for freedom (allyzay), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 21:47 (twenty years ago)

Cos I'd get that.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 21:50 (twenty years ago)

actually if he had a swiffer as an arm he would have been really useful like edward scissorhands. i never realized drugstore.com has sex toys.

h0t h0t h0rsey (Carey), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 21:50 (twenty years ago)

IT DOES???

sex toys, face eating acid, eye liner. perhaps best place on all internet.

gershy, Tuesday, 6 May 2008 02:46 (seventeen years ago)

I used these for years and nothing happened. I stopped using them years ago and nothing happened.

Autumn Almanac, Tuesday, 6 May 2008 03:04 (seventeen years ago)

I was packing today and found an old cache of 'em. I think I'll go put one on!

kate78, Tuesday, 6 May 2008 05:07 (seventeen years ago)

Try them on different parts of the body and report your findings.

Autumn Almanac, Tuesday, 6 May 2008 05:38 (seventeen years ago)

Never used these. Hell, I don't even wash my face, really.

RabiesAngentleman, Tuesday, 6 May 2008 06:42 (seventeen years ago)

Does ilx have a moisturising discussion? Because I have things to talk about that go beyond rhinoblackheads.

Autumn Almanac, Tuesday, 6 May 2008 07:00 (seventeen years ago)

Apparently these Biore strips are really bad for your skin.

Popping other people's blackheads is secretly super fun.

Abbott, Tuesday, 6 May 2008 19:02 (seventeen years ago)

secretly? No secret about it. I think I was a chimp in another life. I often search L for anything I can scrape, pop or otherwise investigate. I should have been an esthetician.

ENBB, Tuesday, 6 May 2008 19:03 (seventeen years ago)

what? bad for your skin how? i do these

Surmounter, Tuesday, 6 May 2008 19:04 (seventeen years ago)

Popping other people's blackheads is secretly super fun.

this is true but I could never because it is also incredibly gross, also because of residual trauma from parent picking my adolescent blackheads so I am BREAKING THE CYCLE

elmo argonaut, Tuesday, 6 May 2008 19:07 (seventeen years ago)

ok my aunt tried to do this to me when i was younger and i had A BRUISE

ON MY CHIN

it really was awful.

Surmounter, Tuesday, 6 May 2008 19:08 (seventeen years ago)

I just did it to John for the first time in the 3 yrs we've been together and OMG wow. And now they're all gone and it's kind of sad.

Abbott, Tuesday, 6 May 2008 19:10 (seventeen years ago)

googling biore has exposed me to a world of zit-popping youtube videos that i would have rather not seen

and what, Tuesday, 6 May 2008 19:11 (seventeen years ago)

E
W

i really can't even imagine popping a blackhead, i mean, they're so damn small! terrifying

Surmounter, Tuesday, 6 May 2008 19:15 (seventeen years ago)

OH DEAR GOD WTF

that is like uploading videos of peeing contests: PRIVATE.

Abbott, Tuesday, 6 May 2008 19:15 (seventeen years ago)

zit-popping youtube videos

I have seen these and some of them are so horrible. I agree with Abbott - private.
